Sonic Youth to appear on Gossip Girl

Sonic Youth is set to make an appearance on a Season 3 episode of Gossip Girl. The episode is set to air October 12th and will feature the band performing their classic track, "Star Power," from their 1986 SST Records album, EVOL.

Apparently, music historian, label owner and Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore is a fan of the show along with his wife and bassist Kim Gordon. According to Moore:

It's sort of our dose of Shakespeare every week..

You're forgetting that Sonic Youth appeared on Gilmore Girls back in 07 or something, alongside Yo La Tengo and Elvis Costello. If you knew anything about Sonic Youth, you'd know that throughout their entire careers, they've embraced junky pop culture phenomena and turned it into art. The article probably says this, but last year, Thurston played a noise show with an episode of Gossip Girl playing in the background. It also might say something that Thurston and Kim's daughter is 15 or 16, so props to the parents for letting their kid feed off their fame.

Yeah, but to be fair, it makes sense that they'd be on Gilmore Girls, if only for the nature of the pop culture references. How many other shows like that would reference X or Bad Religion?

As for the Starbucks comp, you couldn't even find it in stores and barely any were sold. The band has said that only a few hundred or so were printed. Trying finding it for less than $75 on ebay if you're lucky.
