...rather than starting in the studio and starting from scratch and having to put it all aside while were touring, Dexter met with [producer Bob Rock] and they kind of looked at some of the old stuff as kind of a starting point for the new album really. We're going to write a whole new album so it is not going to be rehashed b-sides. Plus there's a lot of stuff, over the years we have written a lot of stuff that has potential but we just never flushed it out completely. So we are not going to just put out crap just for the sake of putting crap out.The band will likely hit the studio early next year with producer Bob Rock, who produced last year's Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace. The new record will likely mark the recorded debut of drummer Pete Parada, formerly of Face to Face and Saves The Day.
The Offspring guitarist Noodles recently spoke to Clink Music Magazine about the band's upcoming plans. Of interest was a comment that the new album would feature reworkings of material left on the cutting room floor from their prior three full lengths. Noodles commented on the process

I remember after ixnay on the hombre came out reading an interview where dexter said the band would break up before they got older because "40 somethings in a band is weird" 1+ Reply

Remember how good of an album Senor and the Queen was? Just sayin. 2+ Replies

So rather than coming up with new crappy songs, they are going to take songs that weren't "good enough" to make it onto their last few disappointing albums and stick them on a "new" bad album. Wow that's lazy.

Really how much more lazy can this band get, it probably only takes them 5 minutes to come up with each of those shitty songs they've released in the last 12 years. This band sucks now, I can't even listen to their old shit which I used to love.

Well no, of course it's not just for the sake of putting crap out. You're putting this crap out to make money from the dipshits that actually buy it. Fuckin' "Noodles". 1+ Reply

I look forward to any Offspring release. You guys can say what you want, but the first 4 or 5 songs off their last album were some of the best songs they have ever written. 2+ Replies

I wish they would write another album like Ignition. That is one of my fav punk albums of all time.

Does the world really need another Offspring album? After Americana they're all the same but not as good.
ReelBigMike (October 31, 2009)
well since im not a cliche punk elitist who thinks everything after Smash sucked, I Can't wait for the new CD. Rise and Fall was probly one of my least favorite albums from them, but I still like it. I can still hold out hopes that they recapture the awesomeness of Americana and CO1. | Features
