A Wilhelm Scream has released their new self-titled Paper and Plastick EP via iTunes. It is expected to be available through the label on vinyl via the webstore on November 20, 2009.

I'm pretty sure the vinyl comes with a cd version, but I don't think a cd alone is being released.

AWS told me via Myspace that only their Euro labels will be releasing just the CD, thus my dislike for Paper and Plastik.

Highlights for me: AWS, Dopamines, Static Radio NJ, Flatliners, Off With Their Heads, Monikers, Arteries

Missed due to lines, timing, etc: Banner Pilot, Dear Landlord, Copyrights, Sidekicks (I think they had a show), Ruiiner, Shook Ones, Liquid Limbs

Another wildly popular band that I cant get into. I saw them with Riot Before and their live show didn't help my pre existing disinterest in them.

Talented musicians for sure but just not doing it for me.

Just downloaded the full EP (yes, I'm gonna go for a legal purchase when it's out) and I gotta say that "Skid Rock" probably is the best song of 2009. The other songs are almost equally brilliant (especially the slower, sometimes HWM style "Fun Time"), but SR just rips so fucking much because of Mike and Brian. I doubt any tech punk fan can wish for anything greater. It's easily the most technical song AWS have ever written. And it may be their best overall. This EP is golden and contains some of the best music released in 2009. I am so happy this band exists and never disappoints!

1. Great fucking ep
2. I know they recorded this at home, but the production is less than stellar and leaves much to be desired
3.two years wait, and we only get 5 songs you recorded at home? that sucks.
Im super hungry for a full length now
4.I feel like the bpm needed to be bumped up a little bit, the live tempo of these songs sounds much better
5. I will be listening to this non-stop for awhile

I guess it was predictable that the production would be worse than usual, but they tried their best and did a fair job. Maybe they re-record some songs or refine their sound for the next full-length, which will hopefully be produced by Bill Stevenson & Jason Livermore again. I guess they will at least pick the stand-out track "Skid Rock" for the upcoming album. As to your complaint about just 5 songs: they played their asses off on many tours and still managed to write a couple of brilliant songs in the meantime. They also probably don't wanna reveal too much new material as a new album will be released next year anyway, and their major concern should be to deliver a monster of a record that time, since everyone's expecting alot from them now. AWS stand for top-quality. They deserve that much time.

I understand they need time, but they released fucking mute print in 2004 and then ruiner in 2005, and ruiner was such a step up

Wow, Paper and Plastick actually does something that is fan friendly for everyone. Im gonna buy this on I-tunes and then burn it on to an un-environmentally friendly CD that will end up in a land fill some day and I could not be happier about it.

So does Paper+Plastick not do pre-orders? I want to order the freakin vinyl+CD and get it as close to the release date as possible, but there's not even an entry for the thing in their store. Kinda weird for something coming out in 10 days. Promotion this release has been pretty terrible in general. I wouldn't have even known this was on iTunes today if it weren't for this posting on punknews - there's not a single word about it on P+P's site, AWS's Myspace, or AWS's Twitter account. This band is great and has the potential to do very well for themselves, and I just don't think P+P is the right place for them. Not that they should sign to a major, but what about Fat or Epitaph or something?

I'd suggest Bridge Nine. AWS signing to B9 would render the label a real band powerhouse and surely the most respected one in the punk music scene. I guess both Fat and Epitaph have lost alot of their former glory in recent years, especially the latter.
