Bouncing Souls post final song of 2009

Bouncing Souls have posted the final track in their song of the month series. Titled "Never Say Die/When You're Young," The band explained the track: It's a battle cry for the lifers to keep carrying that torch and burning it bright, but it's also directed at the youngest ears of tomorrow's generation. Find the truth inside, express it, and never give up.

The band is also promising to compile all twelve songs into a new CD, Ghosts on the Boardwalk, which is due out in January on Chunksaah Records.

Me too. Haven't bothered listening to any of the songs, don't feel like I'm missing anything. My streak of seeing the souls at least once a year ended this year at 8. I'm ok with that.

Oh, yeah. Yeah there will be booze and shit, don't know on the opening band. I just bought a jug of wine for the show so if you see someone that looks like he's working, but is carrying a jug of wine, say hello.

There's a bar set up (Goose Island beer then Red Bull/Absinthe cocktails pretty much) so it'll be frowned upon. I'm only bringing the jug of wine because I'll be working and probably sharing with others helping out, trying to make the last one of the year special.

I was really disappointed with most of the songs. I liked "The Mental Bits" a lot, but overall, very, very weak compared to the gold record.

Odd. I actually feel "The Mental Bits" (along with "Airport Security") are the weakest tracks.

Great song. I've loved this release experiment from them. It seems to solve one of the fundamental problems bands/brands/everyone faces in the fast paced short attention span media cycle that we're in: regular content creation.

I'd much prefer that bands release small amounts of content regularly rather than disappear for two years between putting records out. I'd love to see most bands get onto a 2/3 EPs a year cycle with lots of digital goodies in between. Sure, compile that shit into records for the people that need the 12 song-at-once hit, but in the meantime you've got lots of new material out to keep the fans engaged.

There was an interview posted on here earlier this year where they said they would eventually release it on CD even though they originally didn't want to because people were not buying the digital singles and it was a financial disaster that backlashed on them.

The once-a-month downloads (which I bought all of, because I'm better than that dude sitting over there... no, not you... yeah, you), definitely had me listening to the Bouncing Souls a LOT this year.
Not that I wouldn't have anyway, because they've been one of my top 3 favorite bands for like 12 years, but every time a new song was put out I listened exclusively to Bouncing Souls for days.

They should put out a new song EVERY month until they die. I would very much like that.

As for this new and final track, I love it soooo much. What a great way to finish 2009! That second half is, dare I say, "epic".

Great song, awesome bookend for the series. Unlike some of the posters in this thread, I've really taken to their "single per month" idea this year. When I saw the Souls last year in Ft. Laud, I talked to Greg for a few mins and told him that I was super apprehensive about the whole idea, and we got into a discussion about music, and collecting, etc.

That said, I was wrong about my initial reservations about it. Getting a new Souls song on the first of each month was Awesome. My only complaint is my having to wait for the bonus songs ... but hooray for the vinyl nerds.

Oh ... "Gasoline" is an awesome song. Awesome.

I wish they released the CD in December, just to keep this organized... does this music count for 2009? 2010? Year end lists... 4EPs? 1 album... but in 2010?
