The Bronx back up The Killers in World AIDS day single

The Killers have released their forth consecutive World AIDS Day single with all profits going to benefit the (RED) organization and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa.

The song, "Happy Birthday Guadalupe," features guest vocals from Mariachi El Bronx the all-mariachi alter ego of The Bronx. You can preview the single on iTunes here.

Yeah, they used to be so out of the system, dude! I also want them to be like when they played Johnny Depp's club and got signed to a major after 5 shows without a single note of music recorded... You know back when they were STREET!

OK, he relinquished what ownership he had left in 04, so that would have been a year or 2 after the Bronx. Regardless, it wasn't some exclusive place to play at that point. It wasn't much different than it is now; just another venue in W. Hollywood.

I have a friend whos favorite bands are Against Me!, Andrew Jackson Jihad, and Cobra Skulls, yet for some reason he has a mega-boner for The Killers. I don't understand it.

I've heard this argument so much. But aside from the vocal reverb, it's not that similar. Musically, the killers are much much poppier. Slicker production, keyboards, and many more effects. Really, take away the vocals and you'd probalby never compare the two.

Yes, The Killers have alot more stuff going on in the mix but I remember alot of people on here complaining about "underproduced" production on '59 sound so there you have it.

You've heard it alot? I never argumented about it but I have a few generic hwm fan friends and my mom listens to that Killers record alot so it's just a very obvious comparision for me. Have you ever just sat down and listened to them back to back?

For the record, I enjoy The Killers record alot more than the Gaslight record.

Oh, you again. The Bullet Treatment super fan, right? So Matt wouldn't be caught doing something with his friends if he was playing in the other punk band he's not really in, right? It's also funny you have Spinnerette as one of your top bands. I like them, but here you are giving a punk guy shit for doing a song main a dancy pop band and for one of your top acts, you have what was essentially a punk band who changed their name and style to become a dancy pop/rock band.

Also, lookingforcorpses, the spinnerette thing obviously means that she got into the bronx by seeing them open for Distillers so she "graduated" to them and then when the bronx weren't cool enough for her she just hopped over to Bullet Treatment..

HAHA, I'm pretty sure this is, in fact the girl who had no idea who's on what record and was giving other people shit because she's "a true fan."

Good call on the second point, as well. She went from Rancid to Distillers, got into the Bronx that way, etc. Excellent observation. You'll see in another recent news story, she comments about having never heard of the Stitches but seeing as they're playing with Bullet Treatment, they must be good.
