I can be honest and say that I'm pretty sure we don't have a bass player. I think our bass player, Jesse [Buglione]… he would probably sit in a room with me and say, "Don't say that," but he's basically quit our band. He's made it pretty clear that he can't keep touring because he has to have a real job and make a living. He has a child and a mortgage; that's real stuff, I get it. I totally get that, I don't think anything bad about that at all, but that makes it hard for me to be motivated about doing things with the band because there's only a few original members in the band. You can find the full interview at Exclaim.
It's a weird thing when I think about that band. It's hard to give any kind of good answer. It's always just kind of a little bit of sadness. But I'm always up for doing something with that band. I would really be into doing the one-song thing with that band. because making a record is such a drag with a band. It just takes so much time. I think something like what I'm going to do is a great idea for Lagwagon. It would be super easy for us to get together once a month and write and record a song, or do two or three every few months.

In a recent interview with Exclaim Lagwagon's Joey Cape commented in the future of the band, mentioning that bassist Jesse Buglione has (more or less) quit the group:

FUUUUCK I heard this about a year ago from Joe Smoke or Fire... I didn't want to believe it's true. Jesse B is a great bass player, and when 4+ Replies

Well this fucking sucks. First thing I woke up to this morning was my "I Think My Older Brother Used To Listen To Lagwagon" poster and I was thinking of how awesome they were and when they might tour again. Goddammit. 1+ Reply

Lagwagon is such a good live band. I see them calling it quits this year since Joey doesn't want to continue with such a lack of original members. They've made their stamp on the punk music. I hope they can stick together. 2+ Replies

Complaining about your band is a circular narrative in many ways where it kind of sums up the human race in a time capsule.

Cape has seemed pretty bored with lagwagon for the past few years anyways.

Didn't Chris Rest join another band anyways? Kinda over Lagwagon with they're whole inconsistency in the last decade. I would be stoked if he got BA back together and hit the road! 5+ Replies

Who's got a smoke for the Caper?! I'll always have fond memories of you, Lagwagon. 1+ Reply

I find the use of 'that band' to refer to lagwagon a bit odd. 2+ Replies

I did see this coming, but I still don't believe it... I could find it easier to deal with if Joey's material was anywhere near as good as Lagwagon.

Back in 2006 I had tickets for the Lagwagon/Lawrence Arms/A Wilhelm Scream show in NYC and had to cancel at the last minute. I still have yet to see any of those bands live, and I'm wondering whether I ever will. 2+ Replies

This fucking sucks, though its been obvious Cape hasn't had his heart in Lagwagon for a while now. Lagwagon is one of my all time favorite punk bands,if they do break up I hope we get at least one more LP and one last tour. 1+ Reply

lagwagon kept breaking up and reuniting inbetween the last few albums anyway, i don't see what's different this time.

i hate when musicians quit music to do "real stuff". i'm not a big lagwagon fan, but i consider music to be pretty "real" stuff that has had a real impact on my life. 6+ Replies

Its funny but every album they put out is better than the last in my opinion, Resolve is so amazing yet with every album they get less and less popular! 2+ Replies

This makes me sad. I've always missed Lagwagon on their UK tours for one reason and other, they've been one of my favourite punk bands since I was 15 and pretty much introduced me to Jawbreaker, with their cover of Want on their b-sides album.

i think the 2-3 songs every few months would be awesome... just make that 4-5 songs for an EP every 6 months or something. 1+ Reply

This band are as boring as shit now anyway, how many times can a band make the same record over and over. They may have thought it'd keep the 'true fans' interested but to be honest i think it just bores them. 3+ Replies

What pisses me off is that Joey is justifying his lack of interest in the band (or being part of the creative/production process in a band) on the fact there aren't many original band members in the band anymore..

Sounds like a DRAGwagon.
Still don't get this band or the appeal of Joey's solo work. Of course, I was never into Fat's "every band must sound like NOFX, who aren't that great to begin with" phase.
