Media: Cursive: "Discovering America"

Cursive have released a new single, with proceeds set to benefit the American Indian College Fund, the nation's largest provider of private scholarships for American Indian students. The song "is a caustic appraisal of the mistreatment of the American Indian community."

It's ok, but not their best. I've been listening to a lot of Cursive lately. I'm surprised by how well Mama, I'm Swollen is holding up.

I hear Tim Kasher is recording a non-good life solo album. I wonder how that's going to be.

Mama really impressed me. I was skeptical when I was able to buy it for a dollar before I even knew they were working on it. But I love it almost as much as the two previous...almost...

I got the joke from here http://www.punknews.org/article/24751 and because everyone is hating him because he 14 or 15 or 16, or because he looks like a girl, so I figure why not make people go huh when I saw him play a squat in Poland, and I gave a different reason I hate him(I don't hate him just to claify, I have never even heard his voice or any of songs)

Hey I didn't know who he was until he did that ad for PETA2 and I saw the video of that 14 year old kid going on a huge rant on him. I meant the whole thing as a big joke1.

"waaaaah i like when art stays the same forever, i hate when bands mature and change their sound and progress! life is static and music should reflect that!"

seriously though, decent song. the drum sound is very cool. mama, im swollen is their best record since happy hollow, which was their best record since the ugly organ, which was... you get my drift. just because they sound different doesn't mean they aren't great pieces of art.

I agree with what you're saying, but I absolutely fucking hate when people use the term "mature" to describe a change in musical style/tone. It implies that the band's previous material was somehow "immature" and undeserving of attention, and the majority of the time that's just not true.
