Epitaph signs The Getaway

with this information from the Getaway's mailing list: "Well, The Getaway is proud to announce, "We have signed to Epitaph Records!" The boys flew out to Cali. over the past week to finish up the deal, and to soak up some rays. They just wanted to say thank you to all the fans that have believed in them all these years. This is what they had to say:

We're really stoked to be on Epitaph. We're kind of still in disbelief. We feel it's quite an accomplishment because we've never released an album, never toured, and only really have a handful of songs. Right now we're focusing on writing material for our debut album. Epitaph is an amazing label and we're honored to be working with them. Also, the song "promise" will now be available for full download at www.mp3.com/thegetaway."

From our sources this has been in the works for the past month or so. We're also quite pleased to learn from someone higher up in Epitaph that this older news article that was submitted by XxLoserDanxX helped bring the band to the E's attention... `Nuff said...

Congratulations. I rmember talking to Judas maybe 2 months ago, and he said that they had been getting attention from labels, but wouldn't disclose the info. I have been waiting for this news a while now. These guys seriously rock. You guys are lucky SOBs. I would kill to work with Epitaph, even if that means being their janitor. Preferably, I would rather be one of their bands. I hope to see you roll through town soon.

I've known the Getaway for almost a year now and even then they were getting help from Drive Thru records. I'm so proud of them, couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of guys. They will definitly become one of Epitaph's premiere bands, just wait until they get their cd out!!! Rock!

definitely a pop punk band, and the vocals sound a little too much like Fenix TX but they're good. quite good. i like what i'm hearing a lot. good song writers. i think i'll buy this album when it comes out if i see it anywhere.

I don't get it - "we've never released an album, never toured, and only really have a handful of songs" - and you get a record contract? What the fuck? Whatever happened to bands that work their asses off? Oh yeah, they all break up and then people start to care about them 5-10 years down the road when they're in other, crappier bands. (note: I am in no way suggesting that the Getaway sucks. In fact, if my work PC had speakers, I would go get that mp3 and check it out right now. This band may just be the best thing since sliced bread, but still....)

actually this band has worked their asses off. theyve played throughout the northeast for about a year, built a sick fanbase, and recorded an ep which they were going to release in may. but epitaph asked them not to and to save the songs for thier debut album. so yeah they only have a 6 song ep right now. but they have all worked their asses off and put everything they have into this band and they deserve everything they get

just cause you play shows a lot and release an EP doesnt mean you worked your ass off.....its bands like Belvedere that tour non-stop and record wheneven they can spare time from the road that deserve to be signed to epitaph

So whats up, Epitaph and Drive Thru are now vying for the worst bands in pop punk? Seriously, this should make bands like jawberaker, embrace, and husker du roll over in their grave. These bands are butchering the whole concept of interpersonal lyrics.

also, if you guys wanna hear some other songs by them... go to mp3.com and type in fizzlewink. fizzlewink is the band they used to be that Ryan and Andy were in... and PJ :-( Anywho, the getaway still play's some of these songs live still... like Short and Sweet... amazing song.
