Alkaline Solo

An anonymous reader tells us that: "Double Zero is now selling the Dan Andriano (of Alkaline Trio) and Mike Femulee (of Smoking Popes, Duvall, Alkaline Trio) split in their web store." and representing the last third of the Trio, Matt Skiba's scheduled split with Kevin Seconds is due out in September on Asian-Man.

who is Mike Femulee?? was he the old drummer? anyways, the Skiba split was on sale at Warp Tour and I don't know why I didn't buy it. I bought the new Asian Man comp there for $1 and one of his songs was on it and it was awesome.

i think its an error, its felumlee. he played on the infirmary album. as for being the old drummer, i dont recall hearing anything about him leaving.

i dont know too much about this band so i could be wrong,but isnt derek grant the drummer now?

yeah, derek grant's playing drums for them now. they've been going through drummers like spinal tap since glen, the original drummer left.

They are like a punk-rock meneudo. Skiba is the only origional member left.

I would hardly call them a punk rock menudo. Ya, Skiba is the only original but Rob Doran only did a few songs on bass, it's been Dan ever since. And Glenn, Mike, and now Derek have been the only official members. They played with a lot in between Mike and Derek but they were all temps from other bands.

i don't think any of their drummers have spontaneously combusted on stage though...but i could be wrong

after not really liking the last alkaline trio record compared to their old stuff, I actually really like the Skiba solo stuff, and if Dan's stuff is as good maybe the next trio record will be a doozy. thats right. doozy. wyzo

I liked the split a lot. Even though Matt did a great job, I seem to be partial to Kevin Seconds' tracks.

Dan's stuff is a lot like Tuesday. It has the two best songs I've heard from him in a while on it, the other being a remake of Let The Stars Play. Overall, I love the split.

You could buy the EP at doublezerorecords.com and download them to your computer as mp3s. It's only 8 bucks and with free shipping.

its really cool that they offer the mp3's for sale on the site, but seriously? the whole reason behind all the file sharing is because cd's are too much to begin with. You would think it would be a lot cheaper than 8 seeing as there really isn't much in the cost of distributing it, or the fact that there isn't an actual CD, sleeve or case being sold. Its just data, a bunch of code and thats it. Sounds over priced to me.

he meant that once you order the EP for 8 bucks, you can download the mp3's as well. so basically you're paying for the actual physical EP and the ability to download the whole thing to your computer.

That is correct. For 8 bucks you get the CD with no extra cost for shipping.

My band opened for Kevin Seconds's new band "Go National." Not that anyone cares, I just think it's neat that we played with an actual respected punk icon (if you want to call him that).
