Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: How do you feel about people shouting out songs for bands to play? One time I saw American Steel open for Alkaline Trio and someone shouted play "Stupid Kid". true story.

A: Eh, I'm kind of on the fence. I know, deep down in my rotten soul, that it makes very little difference. For every one time a band has played a song at the behest of a shouting fan there are probably thousands of times that doesn't happen and that guy just annoys everyone around then. You need to figure, most of the time (especially if the band has a lot of releases) the band has a set list figured out in advance and has been practicing a select number of songs. Maybe it's more than just the songs on that evening's set list but it's probably not their entire catalog. So there's a good chance they couldn't really even play the song you're shouting and if they did, it would probably be awful.

However, Justin and I did see Chuck Ragan one time and got really drunk and kept shouting for him to play "Cursing Concrete" and he did and it ruled…So I guess when it does happen, it's kind of amazing.
