I just booked at the Howard Johnson on Priceline. It's 70 bucks and refundable - it doesn't appear to be walking distance from any of the venues, though. I stayed at the Hampton last year, and it was fantastic. I sure wish I could stay there again.

defintely not quality inn. i stayed there two years ago for about 70 a night. it was dirty but wasnt THAT bad- plus i could have walked if i needed. booked it again 4 months in advance last year- got an approval via email. had my credit card stolen about a week before fest but didnt even think about the hotel reservation. got an email the day before fest stating that my reservation was confirmed and that they were looking forward to my stay. drove the 5 hours to gainesville to be told that my credit card had been declined and instead of calling me, they simply gave the room to someone else. when i asked about the email confirmation from the day before- they said those were automatic and didnt really mean anything. they did absoultely nothing to help- said i could stay at the other quality inn about 10 miles out of town but they wouldnt guarantee rates or even

It depends on the jurisdiction, but in a lot of places, yes, you can, though it's uncommon as far as I know. I would be more worried about my bike getting stolen but that's just me.

No- it won't go on sale until fest releases them-but Im not banking on a space there after they sold out so fast last year

I stayed 2 nights at Occupy(don't know if that'll be an option this year), and 2 nights and some motel about a mile and a half down the road on university, can't remember what it was called. i want to say the gator lodge. $40 a room and we had 5 of us sleeping in there

A couple got married at Red City Radio last year.

It's not the car's fault that you take up so much space.

I don't remember disliking much about the afterparty. It was an awesome way to end the weekend.

I see I'm not much help, hahaha.

tons of people who had rooms there couldn't get in last year, and missed out on something special, so probably a better system or something, other than that, another amazing fest!

I know I'm the Arbitrary Complaints Guy, but seriously, the afterparty was really awesome and well put together. I don't even think anything needed changes. The free cupcakes and beers were amazing.

After party was fucking awesome, wish I remembered more.

That was the best part of last year's Fest. It would be the ONLY reason I would stay at the Holiday Inn this year. Oh yeah, and make sure the Flatliners play the Holiday Inn show; they were amazing. Fake Problems would be a great addition to it as well.

I honestly can't think of one bad thing to say about the after party. It sucks that everyone isn't invited, but if it wasn't then it'd just be like the rest of Fest (which is awesome). I stay at the holiday inn every year because I know the environment I'd like to be around. That night everyone brought what they had, shared and had a good time. It was a little sketch with the guard for a second, but the guy organizing (I forget his name, but I'm sure he works for AP) did a superb job defusing a very delicate situation. Seriously, if it's anything close to last year it'll be fantastic.

Have less cool stuff so I don't feel left out for not going.

The only thing I didn't like was that the hotel staff were unsure how to deal with letting people into the hotel. Everything else ruled.

The only thing I did not like about it was THe Replacements cover band not playing. I was so drunk and bummed.

I think it was super shitty that people who were staying in the hotel but didn't have wristbands couldn't even get in the hotel to go to their rooms.

It was perfect. The covers were all a really great addition so it wasn't like seeing that same band again.

A better way to get in / no big line.

Was tons of fun though!

Everything is refundable, dude. It's just nice to know you have a secure spot you can rely on if the Holiday Inn sells out as fast as it did last year once it's opened for renting (which it will). A lot of people travel some pretty extreme distances for this event.

It's $400+ a night right now. I'm hoping they drop that to something much more reasonable as soon as the other hotel rates are set. They'd be foolish to try and charge that much when there's tons of other options available.

Shouldn't all the real punks behave like squatters throughout the Fest's duration? A hotel? Breakfast in bed? Go find a cardboard box and a dumpster!

I'm sure it's fine. It's cheap and sufficient for a crash pad. I stayed at America's Best Value Inn last year for way cheap and it was totally fine -- nothing special, but totally fine. Unfortunately, America's Best appears to have blocked out that weekend so you can't reserve there for FEST (at least not yet). Econolodge is about 2 miles from where the shows are, but you can easily walk it or bike it. (Or drive, if you must!)

Yeah, kind of misjudged the distance it's like 2.2 miles and according to google about 44 minutes walking. It's totally doable but, it's an open reservation so it can be canceled. I've got a double room(up to 5 persons) and I'm alone since my dear friends in Sweden apparently have the worst music taste... Awesome rate thou about 55/59 $ per night!

I'd be up for lending a bike! Is riding a bike "intoxicated" a felony in Florida?(it is in Sweden)

I'm not sure exactly what the penalties are for getting busted biking drunk. Just don't be that guy. If you are that obviously drunk, you will probably get hit by a car or crash into a wall first.

It's good (or bad) enough for Less Than Jake to have written a song about it.

Fest 10 was my first year but EconoLodge was great. We had a double room split between 6 people and it came out to around $75 total for 2 nights. The 2 miles doesn't even seem that far because it's just a straight walk. It's just past the university but I recommend biking or taking a bus. You can sneak into the Holiday Inn for the aftershows if you really want too.

I think it was $75 for the weekend at FEST 10. I'd expect it to go up a little bit, but not sure.
