Yea I worked at a place in Boston called Burrito Max back in the day. It was a fun place to work. Everyone that worked there was in a band because we could cover each others shifts to go on tour. Travis from Piebald was my boss. Some folks from the unseen worked there, as well as a bunch of other band. There was a practice space pretty close top fenway park and we kept all the bands fed. Converge is an amazing band. I would love to be able to see them live again.

Hopefully in the spring when we head up to montreal for pouzza fest.

My favorite beer is called coopers and its made in Australia. Its all we drink when we tour there. You can get it in the states but it doesn't taste the same because its unfiltered and I don't think it ships well.

My favorite Avail song is Lombardy street. That is a tough question. Love that band.

I was going on an acoustic tour by myself and I needed something to sell for gas money, so I recorded some smoke or fire songs acoustic in my buddy dave segals bedroom in Boston. I burned copies and sold them for $5. I never planned on releasing it. Neil from Anchorless records is a great friend and he really wanted to release it. Brendan has been a good friend for a long time, and he was into it. Rest is history.

There has been talk of re-releasing the workers union EP on vinyl. I'm sure that will happen at some point. We've been talking with FAT about releasing a B-sides album as well. We just wanted to get a few new releases out on the label first. We have a ton of material that hasn't been put out yet, so I would like to see that happen.

I love the when the battery dies album. We were young and it was our first record and we recorded it in like 2 hours. There's also been talk of releasing that on vinyl as well,

That band can do no wrong in my opinion. Everything they did was genius to me. I think we're going to cover one of their songs at the acoustic show we're playing at the fest.

My favorite song off of the speakeasy is "Monsters among us". I love the way that song came out. "1968" is a close second.

Right now I am working on writing a solo album. It's really different from the smoke stuff. Smoke or Fire is heading overseas in the spring to tour the UK, Europe, and Russia and we are trying to have a new release for that. If we don't have time then we will record a new record when we get home.

Toronto is amazing. I just played an acoustic show there a couple months ago. I think the club was called the horseshoe?? Great city.

Haha, no. It was just something different to put on a hoodie. Our new hoodies for this tour don't have anything on the front and I kind of wish they said smoke.

Yes. The tour is almost done being booked. I haven't seen the dates yet but I hope Spain is on there. We were supposed to play spain with strike anywhere years ago but that show was cancelled.

I like playing crying shame a lot live. It's a more laid back song, but I love playing it when the crowd all sings along.

Favorite band to tour with was AVAIL. We were lucky enough to do 4 tours with them and they are the greatest guys ever. Hell, they introduced us to the claremont in atlanta. Either you know the claremont or ya don't.

On a side note we are having a blast on the tour we're currently on with Teenage bottle rocket and masked intruder. Fun guys.

I'm going to have to say Japan. Touring there was like being on another planet just because the culture was so different, and there was barely any english. In most countries in Europe even if you don't speak the language you can kind of figure out what you need to but there were times in Japan I felt pretty helpless. It was one of the coolest experiences ever.

What you want to do is Blanch (or parboil) your pork bones. In other words put your pork bones in a stockpot, cover with water, bring to a boil, then discard the water and rinse your bones. Then put your now rinsed bones back into a clean stockpot. I like to add some rough chopped ginger and scallions. Cover with water and bring to a boil, reduce heat and allow to simmer gently for 6 to 9 hours. The longer the better. After it finishes simmering remove the bones and filter through a cheese cloth. Refrigerate overnight and then remove the top layer of fat.

I write pretty much the same for everything, but when you add drums and loud guitars it sort of changes where the song goes. I write almost everything on acoustic guitar. The stuff I've been writing lately for my solo project is very different. I'm not sure if that was on purpose or not.

Yea the tour we're on now is the first since we went to Australia a year ago. There have been a lot of personal things in the band and I think we just needed a break to get our lives together a little bit. We are planning on being out on the road a whole lot more, and Chicago will be one of the places we hit for sure. I was actually considering moving there recently.

Anyone who knows the fake problems hitting the turkey story....woo. I'm not gonna tell it here though. Too funny.

I wrote the words to that song pretty much start to finish on the back of an envelope in a couple minutes right after a band member quit years ago. I loved the song right away. I was surprised it works so well solo, but i enjoy playing it so I'm glad thats the case.
