Q: Do you own a gun?

A: I do not. I go by the old Scarface (Hip Hop) adage, "If you pull a gun you best be ready to use it." Certainly there are certain situations where you'd want to own a gun, but they are so few and far between for me, I don't have one. Really, for the most part, except in certain circumstances, guns attract more problems then they solve. For most home defense, a baseball bat or big dog will do just fine.

Though, I should add, that when I worked in the produce industry, at about 3am, the store milk delivery man was a victim of an attempted mugging where three muggers forced him into the back of his truck to rob him of his route money (little did they know that all milk orders are paid via invoice/mail). That's not the type of circumstance where you expect to get out of. Without question, him carrying a gun saved his life that day.

So, in some circumstances, having a gun for protection is necessary. But otherwise, you don't need one.
