Rick Froberg's Obits are calling it quits. The group announced the split on April 1st, which is of course a difficult day to announce anything given the level of untrue nonsense in the air, but they've since reinforced the news that after 3 full lengths and 9 years the garage rock act is done. The Brooklyn based group released I Blame You in 2009, Moody, Standard and Poor in `11, and Bed & Bugs in 2013, all on Sub Pop Records. There's no word yet on a last show, although the band had previously been listed to play with Mudhoney on Brooklyn's Bell House on July 12th.

Froberg was of course a member of such influential acts as Pitchfork, Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes. He was joined in Obits by drummer Scott Gursky of Shortstack, guitarist Sohrab Habibion of Edsel and bassist Greg Simpson.
