Fuck you buddy I went to there hsow last nite and it was like the 5th time I've seen them, Itook three of my buddies that are into mainstream music and after last nite I think they will be Moneen fans for life, they are incredible live and have fun, something that is forgotten on this website. I've seen a lot of bands live and there nothing like the Get up Kids live. I was a big fan of the Get up Kids and was dissapointed with there live show, they had no energy whatsoever. I guess your just into bands that sit there and have no energy, great. But don't go talking shit without the facts to back it up. Moneen is one of the best live acts today. I've probably seen about 80 to 100 shows and the only band that measures up to this type of energy is Dillinger Escape Plan, In Flames, and The End.

those good prices are designed to knock the indie stores out of business... they charge less than the competition simply because they have the ends to do so... indie stores can't be expected to compete. paying the 18 bucks for a record of a band you support is what helps build a better scene. at least thats what i think. fuck best buy.

Supporting your local indie store does not build a better scene. Yes, it puts money in the pockets of people who will actually see the bills you pay as direct revenue, but a record store is still a distributor. A distributor is not a major element of a scene, neither is a building your band can post a flyer, just as a telephone pole is not a major element of a scene. The scene is not a product, but rather it is made of kids like you and I who go to shows and enjoy music, but also have to put food on the table. Shopping at Best Buy is not crippling any scene. It is financially reasonable for the guys that only make minimum wage, and we live in a world of economics. To deny that would be to isolate ourselves from society, and I don't think many of us are punk enough to become hobos. show rest of commenti completely agree with your perspective. i have been in the same position as you, only lately i piss away my cash on weed rather than records, and i don’t hold the fact that you bought a record at a store like best buy against you... and not to be a cock, but "raviolli" only has one L... ravioli. i think that its interesting to note that labels that have "major label" distribution, ie drive thru and vagrant, are the labels that jump at the chance to stock the shelves at best buy with discount product. labels end up with the same amount of cash in their pockets, and are guaranteed plenty of sales right off the bat, so they have no problem doing business like that. independently distributed labels, such as jade tree and deep elm, for example, rarely have releases on hand at stores like best buy, and when they do, i can guarantee there will be no 6.99 price tag on them. i cant help but feel that the more "pop" oriented labels are pandering to our scene by slapping an affordable price tag on their products, and it is a fucking calculated move to support the entities that they would like to support (SONY, warner brothers… whatever) because they get better deals on the things they REALLY make money on. i’m saying that deep elm and jade tree don’t make televisions, hi-fi systems, or even have huge film studios that release DVDs. they are exclusively about the music… other independent labels, like epitaph and fat, tend to keep their prices constant. at the best buy in my town, the new nofx, lagwagon, and strung out releases were all $12.99, the same price as at my local indie record store. in my eyes, this is a consistent way of doing business, and, while not necessarily supporting an indie scene, is still much cooler than putting smaller stores out of business. once there are no more independent stores, i bet that best buy would have no fucking qualms about charging us out the ass for releases from the same labels they support now. if my local indie store had the capacity to put out records at the same discount prices as best buy, i believe they would. they care about the music, not about discount stereo equipment. i realize that demand has a lot to do with this... far more people are willing to buy the $6.99 alkaline trio release or (jesus no...) the $5.99 mest cd than the new joan of arc or ester drang records. its interesting to wonder what the business practices of deep elm and jade tree records would be if the demand for their records from the general public were higher, and they had the capacity to be in drive thru/vagrant's shoes. i feel that epitaph and fat have stood behind their claims that they are indie labels, and despite whatever criticisms the general population has, i respect them for practicing what they preach. they could do whatever the fuck they want, and kids would eat it up, but they have ethics. sorry to ramble on like this... but the point i'm trying to make is that supporting best buy goes beyond supporting your local record store. major labels are supplied with cash, while indie labels are forced to struggle for survival, and then they go fucking broke. best buy does not struggle for shit; it only creates problems for hard working people. for the most part, with vagrant being an exception, “major” punk labels tend to put cash ahead of quality and ethics (as of late, victory fucking records.) and best buy facilitates and condones this deterioration in our music scene. if i like a band that’s on a major label, i will buy their record, because in the end, it is all about the bands getting paid. at the same time, if i’m going to do this, i would much rather put the cash in the pockets of an indie record store, giving them MORE power to pick up MORE product from MORE indie labels with good, honest bands, because it could only help strengthen the music scene that I have supported for the past six years. i realize this is long and overblown, and this is the last paragraph. the key to the music we listen to is unity... a bunch of fucking people banding together to help support each other... everyone works as hard as they can and everyone sees the meager fucking profits. at the same time, the creation and propagation of an art form is supported. i don’t expect everyone to go out and support independent record stores all of the time, but i think if more people considered the consequences of their actions on a bigger level and bought indie whenever possible, we could only benefit. the problem comes when EVERYONE goes out to best buy and drops their 6 bucks on a record so that they can still buy raviolli. peace

i initially posted the comment about best buy. and i stand by it. i like what you said. it comes down to who can provide the best price. besides, most of the crap my local indie store carries is Kansas City based hip-hop, not Vagrant bands. if they had it in stock, it would cost me 18.00. no thanks. best buy never has hit me with more than 15.00. and a lot of their cds are far cheaper than that, like the new Brand New cd was 9 bucks last week. if people really want to support a band, then buy the cd at best buy, and then when you see the group at a gig, just hand them the difference and you will be giving them more than they would get through the indie dealer. i gotta be honest though, i really don't care if the local indie record store stays in business or not.

I like this song, as well as the album's title track a lot. They have really grown on me, and I really knew, in terms that albums I didn't think I'd want to buy, I should have picked up this album over Brand New's the other day, which is only decent at best.
