Billboard is reporting that a two-disc deluxe edition of "The Harder They Come" will be released on August 5th. The album, soundtrack to a 1973 Jimmy Cliff film, was instrumental in introducing ska and reggae to the world music scene. The first disc contains a remastered version of the original 12 song album, which featured tracks from Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker and Toots & The Maytals among others. The second disc collects classic early ska and reggae singles by the artists from the original soundtrack (Cliff's "Vietnam", Dekker's "Israelites" and the Maytals "54-46"). New artwork is being added, as well as essays by reggae historian David Katz, the film's director/co-writer Perry Henzell, Island founder and reggae icon Chris Blackwell and Clash bassist Paul Simonon.
