Karl Alvarez joins All Systems Go

us that according to Bad Taste Records website, Karl Alvarez of All / Descendents fame has joined All Systems Go. He will be replacing outgoing bassist Thomas D'Arcy. The band will get together in LA later this month to start playing new material as well as rehearsing for a full U.S. tour early next year.

Wow, that is some crazy ass news. Karl Alvarez is an amazing song writer. He's wriiten so many kick ass tunes(I'm the One,Thank You,Coolidge,Nothin,Breathe etc). Well it good to see he's keeping busy, Chad's out on tour with Drag the River, Stephen lives in OK and is touring with MXPX, Bill is always recording bands. I hope this doesn't mean the end of ALL.

I think its the same, maybe. This one has ex-members of Big Drill Car.

Yeah it's the same band. The exclamation point was used on their first album only I think. Anyway, it's the band fronted by John Kastner, ex-Doughboys (probably my favorite Canadian band of all time).

The Descendents will not tour to support their album. Milo hates touring. Stephan told me they're not touring when the EP and record are released on Fat.

The official or semi-official word from the message board at Allcentral.com says there are going to be a few scattered one-off shows depending on Milo's schedule (it's not that he hates touring, but that his job keeps him busy and he doesn't have much time to tour), but probably not an organized tour.

Yeah, Milo probably makes more on his weekly paycheck than he does on an entire North American tour! Fucking biochemists! I'd like to see Bad Religion and the Descendents get together for the "we're smarter than you tour"!

do you think milo really cares a lot about $$? i am sure he does to a point but i dont think he has lots of bling bling and dozens of cars. so i am sure if he wanted to tour and not make $$ being a biochemist he could. but he chooses not to and likes doing the biochem thing rather than touring.

you know... i tried to like this back, but there's just nothing that keeps me interested in them, the songs are really really bland and could be written by any highschool band, and bad taste does jackshit for their bands.. ...but i tried, i really tried.

Look here fellow. We can't possible with the situation we are in right (6 people working days and nights to cover Europe...) now market an album in the states, therefore we do mostly European deals (which I might add is our main territory) and if we have worldwide rights with an artist we license the album to a label in the states that can work the record better over there. That is probably why you have never seen any ads over there....duh. The latest All Systems Go album for an example have yet been released in the states and will be early next year on another label. Thanks for your precious time. Martin

Let me put something straight here. Wasn't Bad Taste the label that picked up Danko Jones and ASG! which are actually 2 Canadian bands? How can you say they don't do anything for their bands, when these band's homecountries didn't even notice them? Anyway, Bad Taste was one of the few labels that I have been following for punkupdates.com since the start and they have been sending out plenty mails in all these years. Maybe you guys should subscribe to their newsletter. Anyway, I'm from Europe, that's true, but isn't it obvious that it's difficult for a label these days to fight their way through all the US label promo campaigns that are running? I just want to thank Martin for his continuous efforts to reply to any questions ever asked by me. And isn't his dedication obvious? I didn't see too many label people posting on this here website.

Add the Four Square rock combo to the list of Canadian bands on the BTR roster. Four Square was the best unsinged band in Toronto in my opinion. It was only a matter of time before someone picked them up! Kudos to Bad Taste, Four Square rock!!!

I was a huge BDC fan and a huge Doughboys fan...but when I first listened to All Systems Go at Bill Stevensons's house (scene points) I thought is was only ok with a couple good songs. Then someone sent it to me and after a few listens it became my one of my favorite records of last fall. Give it a few more listens...

I can't get into their new album, but their first record on Coldfront was one of the best of that year. I hope with Karl in the band that they start writing more of those ol' power pop songs like on that record. Members of Big Drill Car, The Doughboys, and ALL- this is like a Cruz Records class of '87 reunion!
