Contests: Gimme Skelter

Buddyhead Records recently released Gimme Skelter, a compilation featuring exclusive tracks from Cave In and Weezer [and a bunch of bands your older brother thinks he cares about like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Le Tigre, Mudhoney, and more]. I convinced the label [between coke snorts] that some of you want this CD but are too poor to pay for it, so we came to the obvious conclusion of whoring ourselves out to buy copies for everyone. When that didn't pan out, we just decided to give away 5 copies of the record as well as a Gimme Skelter poster, promo cards, and stickers to 5 lucky winners. To enter, simply send an email to CONTEST CLOSED with your name and address. One entry per person, please. I'll draw the 5 winners next week.

I meant more in terms of using their site to promote bullshit. And I think taking cash would promote it further, as long as it didn't compromise their opinions and the content of the site, but again, I don't know these cats, so I could be completely wrong. -sickboi

It's like this: All they do is promote their own shit and tear down other people's crap. Making fun of good charlotte is fine and dandy. In fact It's pretty fucking funny. When you do it while you're putting out a record on the same label as Sarah Mclaclan (which has ties to management of Sum 41, and Barenaked Ladies) you look like a fucking hypocrite. As far as keeping it real, Lookout! distributes all their records for them. I have no problem with that (Lookout!'s fucking rad as far as I'm concerned). But then writing some rant about how bands like The Bronx and The Kinison are fake for being on majors comes off as a little holier than thou, when you don't even distro your own records (which is alot of the work behind running an indie). I won't even say shit about the Icarus Line being on V2 (they've been around for years, played in other bands for almost a dec

Yeah, the dudes at BHead like tearing into shitty bands almost as much as I do personally, but the bands they back and put records out for...aren't all that awesome. Remeber the Text CD that they shilled over for months? It blows bad. Drive like Jehu? weak. I do happen to agree that FMinus is badass as well as the F'ing dwarves, but whenever I see any record with the buddyhead logo on it I immediately put it down. Same thing goes with the Icarus line and the rest of the Buddyhead stable (except shat). Buddyhead should make a full time job out of fucking with Fred Durst and stop wasting their money putting out shitty records and compilations. -Ken

The Text CD was a disappointment, I agree, but Drive Like Jehu? Yank Crime is awesomely outrageous.
