What do you think of conservativepunk.com? They are punks getting back into politics too. As much as I frown when reading their collumns, I think it's healthy that there are different views within the punk community, and that punk is prevented from being entirely synonymous with left wing politics. We shouldn't deny the conservative tradition of punk, from Agnostic Front's "Public Assistance" to Black Flag's "White Minority". We don't have to like it, we just have to aknowledge it as a part of the history of punk/hardcore.

Patriot as in one who loves his/her country? Absolutely nothing! I love the idea behind America, I love that I can come on this site every fucking day if I want to and say "fuck george bush!" and I don't have secret servicemen or police knocking at my door! I love the fact that a woman can have a child out of welock without being punished or tortured. I don't like the fact that this country was founded on racism, I don't like the inequal distribuiton of wealth, I don't like the overuse of militarism as a solution to foreign affairs and I don't like the cold-hearted ploticians who make decesions that affect the population based on the interests of a sample. There is nothing wrong with loving one's country, there is a problem when that love turns into violence, racism, selfishness or xenophobia and I think there's been a little too much of that lately.

yeah, but then ya got ya people like Phil Knight, whos net worth is just under $6million, but his companies wealth (nike) for the large part comes from the exploitation of cheap asian labour, who get paid under $2 a day. Nike can more than easily afford to pay the workers a living wage.

Ok, some very basic economic stuff: Heavy taxing of disgustingly rich folks means pumping more money into the government's budget. Granted that these money are not used to bomb the shit out of a third world country or sending a 30 billion $ space shuttle to Mars to take pictures of rocks, but rather given to the people through social goods, these money will put YOU (unless you're rich too) in a better economic situation. You won't have to buy private health care / health insurance, you'll get it for free. Who cares how much Bill Gates makes? Millions of Americans.

The point is that the parties involved want george bush out of office. No one said they were all poor or all drove broken down vans to shows, they just don't like bush. Other than the fact that many oft those bands make shitty music, I don't see what everyone's big problem is.

Jello's character is just as questionable as Fat Mike's. Just because DK was a better, more credible, or more punk band band doesn't give what he says any extra truth. The fact that many people involved closely with him in his 2000 "campaign" quit and/or said negative things about him is something to think about. Jello is a fine entertainer, but he has more in common with Michael Moore than the average punk.

Both state opinion as facts, say most of what they say for shock value/to get a rise out of people, and refuse to accept the arguments of others. What's the difference between Moore's Oscar's speech and the rhetoric that many of the people who post here throw out on a daily basis just to piss people off? That's not cool, dude. Punk bands shouldn't need the help of these kinds of stations. It's important for the underground (or semi-underground in NOFX's case) to be independent and to avoid ending up owing some slick commercial radio station favors.
