From the fine folks at Fat Wreck Chords: Shit howdy. We've posted our e-card for the RAB comp and you can hear about 5 different sound samples from some of the unreleased songs on the comp. Descendents, Alkaline Trio, Anti-Flag, etc. Fun times, fun times. The thing's out 4/20, until then you'll have to settle for 35 second samples: e-card

Punk Rock, Diversity, and the Gonzo Conservatives
By Dave Smalley
In 2004, punk rock fans don't have to all be the same. Sheep are the same. Lemmings are the same. But punk rock fans should never demand sameness, be it from the left or the right. A healthy democracy depends on a free thinking, engaged citizenry -- and a healthy punk rock scene should be the FIRST to welcome ideological diversity.
I call punk rock conservatives gonzo conservatives. This is not your father's conservatism. Gonzo conservatives have done and seen things their fathers never could have imagined, and right alongside punks on the left. Gonzos are inked and scarred and concerned about problems in the world. They love the Bad Brains and the Sex Pistols, and grew up believing the very essential punk rock notion of "think for yourself." Some have been part of the punk rock scene for years, and helped it grow show rest of comment 21+ Replies

Something's wrong. This has been up for around half a day and there's still only 30 comments? That must be some kind of record for a Punkvoter article. C'mon kids, start bitching about Fat Mike some more. - Kirby 2+ Replies

The Alk3 songs sounds like a watered down Strung Out song to me. I like it though. -duped 1+ Reply

Dude, Fat Mike has openly stated that he plans on losing money on this whole venture. He's (supposedly) planning a free tour to support the cause 1+ Reply

In response to Dave Smalley's post above:
"Let's be truly a colorblind society, and let all people's talents shine, regardless of the color of their skin."
I agree, but those living in poverty do not have an equal opportunity for their talents to shine due to the economic circumstances in which they reside. Thus, affirmative action was created in an attempt to level the playing field. I think the way to solve the "race" problem in affirmative action is to make it class, rather than race based. Then minorities will still benefit from it, as well as whites. Did you know that there are actually more poor WHITE PEOPLE than black people in this country? (Due mainly to the fact that there are more whites in this country.) However, there is a higher percentage of blacks that are in poverty in comparison to whties. I don't know the numbers, but basically this means that if w show rest of comment 3+ Replies

Response To Punkvoter.com
Not too long ago, I was made aware of a list that appeared on the website punkvoter.com called 15 Reasons Why You Should Hate The President.
The website recently posted its “three clear objectives”: ((1) To activate punks and other disenfranchised young people to participate in elections. (2) To vote Bush and the Republicans out of office, and (3) to build a coalition of informed voters who can individually and collectively influence public policy.
These objectives clearly show you the agenda of Punkvoter.com, but they show more than that. Punkvoter.com’s motives are not the pursuit of truth, but their collective contempt towards George W. Bush and all Republicans. Objectives 1 and 3 are contingent on objective 2. This explains the “15 Reasons Why You Should Hate The President” - a flawed attempt to influence the reader to despise President Bush and Republicans. show rest of comment 1+ Reply
