VariousPunk-O-Rama 7 (2002)Epitaph Records Reviewer Rating: Contributed by: BrandonSideleau (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on June 29th 2002
Well......what can I say? Epitaph has over the past 10 years become the largest and most recognizable punk label in the world, with Fat Wreck Chords not far behind. And, since 1994, they have released a punk o rama compilation every year (with the exception of '95). Each of these comps featured various artists from the label's roster and "usually" included a fair amount of unreleased material. For the most part the compilations were good, and occasionally great- but times are changing and more poppy music has found it's way to Epitaph. Please login or register to post comments. What? no B-sides from bad religion (still) >_ people who are new to punk buy punk comps, thats what i did, i bought about 6 or so comps, and sorted out what bands i wanted to buy the actual cds of, now i just find new random punk albums released on here, and buy them if the band is good, if they get a good review, if its cheap enough, or if a friend reccomends it. In my opinion, punk comps are made for people interested in the kind of music, but not sure what albums to buy, much cheaper, and usually get a lot more songs per comp. Millencolin sold out a while ago kingpin, their new stuff is just to please the masses. that BR song really really really sucks. this cd blows, except for the pulley & millencolin songs. Why should anybody who listens to punk buy this cd (and no, i dont know anybody who does not lsiten to punk and buys a punkorama or simialr compilations, so in the end its for punk fans)? I mean the earlier samplers had many more songs, and also many had unreleased songs, but this is version is the worst in my oppinion. Nothing new, nothing you might not have heard yet, cause the good songs are on good cds, that people should hae bought or downloaded already. Brett, PLEAAAASE, next compilation add unreleased tracks! People dont want to throw money out of the window. And yes The Defense is a fucking good song, but as i already said, who didnt listen to it already? This is the crappiest Punk-O-Rama album for years, utter crap. "The Defense" gets this CD up from the deepest gutter though. Never begin a review with the words "What can I say?". Just do us all a favor and don't say anything at all. That's how a dumb reviewer starts every third review. Or, "When I first heard (band name here) I thought _____" | Features
