Epitaph Records -- Millencolin

Alot of bands say they're making the music for themselves. Usually I think thats a buch of hogwash, but this new Guttermouth album was surely not made for their long time fans. From the 14 tracks I count 5 pop punk tracks. Campfire Girl #62 and Scholarship in Punk open the cd and are the two best punk tracks. Then there are the songs Gusto, Contagious, and Foot Long which are country music. Not like Dixie Chicks country, like fast cowboy music. These are still cool songs.

The rest of the cd is filled up with and irish drinking song, a b 52's rip off, a 1950s rock/jazz type track, upbeat surf/ska song, a terrible slow attempt at whatever style smashmouth plays. The final track Lemon Water is just a joke track but is really funny.

Guttermouth are no longer offensive (i cant really remember any swearing on the entire cd). Guttermouth no longer play double speed punk songs. But it is still in essence a punk record, which is very funny and unlike pust Guttermouth cd's apart from one fault the whole cd is really listenable. The members of Guttermouth are almost 40 and it looks as though they are ready to mature ... a little.

Has everyone forgot that these guys were one of the first bands to build this scene up. This is a really good album. Of course this is a departure from the past. We won't be hearing any Bruce Lee VS the KISS Army anytime soon. But good music is good music. This record is fun from start to finish. Don't buy into this hype from jaded whinners that live in the past way to much. So, keep your personal "opinons", and I use that word very loosely, where they should be...in the crapper!! For christ sake just review the friggin' album.

So Guttermouth, the Guttermouth we all love, is no more! Their pissed-off screamy old-school sounding shit is still their best (The first full-length, "Friendly People", and most of "Gorgeous"). Dammit, give me a whole album of sons that sound like "BBB", "Viva America", "Diamond-Studded Bumblebee", "Jamie's Petting Zoo", and "Where Was I" and I'll be stoked! STOP PUTTING OUT THE POP SHIT FOUND ON THE NEW ALBUM, THE PREVIOUS ALBUM, TERI YAKIMOTO, AND MUSICAL MONKEY YOU PUSSIES!!

The last album grew on me and is pretty cool actually. It's got wierd songs but it's better. I think people need to lighten up, for years they sounded like the super popular california sound when fat and epitaph were really big. Everyone seemed to like that style a few years ago, the only real thing that's different is they were really offensive, but it was funny. I think everyone here has become too sensative because they listen to too much dashboard.

Wow, somebody actually bothered to comment about the Dixie Chicks reference in the review. When I think of the dixie chicks I think of country... so whats the problem with that reference... thats what most people think of. About the album, I havent heard it but I havent ever liked anything that Guttermouth did. They are too obssesed with being "funny" and "offensive". I dont remember ever hearing a Guttermouth song that I actually enjoyed.Ill give it a 2 just for trying to change a little bit... from the explanation in the review though it doesnt sound like they changed to anything worthwhile...-pat41

Seeing as how the Dixie Chicks don't play country, it's irrelevant to preface your country comment by mentioning them. Pop music about sleeping with someone you're related to isn't country. Idiots.

I don't even usually bother to comment here, but I really don't like this album, so I will.

First, I should mention that unlike most people it seems have posted on here, I usually like Guttermouth. I really like Gorgeous and before. The last album wasn't too great, but had some decent songs...

...this album however, is awful. As the reviewer mentioned, if you're into the country-ish sound or, as someone else said, Blink on Epitaph, you'll like it.

If you like Guttermouth when they rock, you probably won't like it.

i have a friend who loves these dorks and has burned me 2 of their albums. of those 2 which i have since thrown away to make room in my case i remember like .....4 good songs. perfect world, lipstick...uhh thats single off the last cd. ok 3 good songs off those cd's. these guys suck. they remind me of nofx if they quit trying. its like trying to be funny, witty, offensive but failing miserably, and being igonered by all but idiot punk kids who will say corporate america is evil w/ a camel in their mouth and a diet coke in their hand. fuck this shit.

No no no no no .....

Awful album. I could write this. Some of the songs are catchy, but theyre only catchy because theyre pure sickly sweet pop.

    Didnt like this at all

Bring back the harder, faster, more interesting Guttermouth
