"Nothing Else", the new cd by the band EPOXY, is a killer album. It is fronted by Brett Kimberlin, a former political prisoner, who wrote all the songs in prison. His angst and energy is palpable, and the three band members are stellar musicians. This is gritty, raw punk rock at its best, and it puts to shame all the flavor of the year bands such as the VINES, STROKES, and WHITE STRIPES. Please login or register to post comments. well well, i must say that i have been validated by punknews itself. your review of the epoxy cd is amazing, and it really tells the story in a nutshell. youre right, this band is going to be huge. and the thing i like is that this band is going to bring punk back into the mainstream, and slay all this numetal, hip hop, shag the chick crap weve been so barraged with for all these last few years. their playing sets a really high standard for musicians after years of kids not even being able to play except a drop d retard guitar. great stuff, and i hope every reader gets into this cd. alexa i got a copy of the EPOXY cd from interpunk, and i had my doubts at first, there is a lot of talk about this cd and i figured it was all hype, but this cd is amazing, every song is awesome, there is so much going on, and the lyrics mean something, and the angst is palpable, the bass player is alien he is so good, and the drummer sounds like hes shooting a machine gun. i am usually pretty jaded about new bands, but this one sounds real, in a way that i havent heard in years, yes years, the inside of the album cover is really cool, theres a keyhole in a door, and you open it up to all the original hand written lyrics, with all the scratches. and i couldnt believe all the heavy hitters who helped out with the cd, a lot of nirvana vets, fugazi vets, government issue vets, pj harvey, and some anonymous famiso incognito, this is an outstanding band with something to say. i love it. alexa. you're calling the White Stripes a "flavor of the year"? According to your review, the two don't even sound comparable. And next time, try writing more than 3 words for your review. The album cover makes it look like some dance music compilation. Judging a book by it's cover, I'd pass. |
