Ah, "Nothing Gold Can Stay." Back when they were A New Found Glory. Back when they were indie. Back when they weren't as pop-oriented as Good Charlotte, and were less poppy (but still poppy) like The Ataris but with more of a middle-ground melodic punk sound like No Use for a Name. their only good album. their only one. i don't think this cd is that good. i think sticks and stones is better. all the songs sound alike but the bounus track is hilarious. it's somthing my friends and i would probably do I don't care how not punk or how punk you are for saying you're not punk, this shit blows. Hi, my name is Ben. I will admit that New Found Glory is unoriginal (for the most part). Essentially they are what other bands we like to call "pop-punk" look up to. They have taken this genre of music and mastered it and have gained their success becuase of it. nfg is fucking lame man whoever reviewed this cd needs to get a new taste in music or fucking die! yeah... um this is waay better then their s/t. that was pretty shitty, this i feel is close to sticks and stones and i have no idea which one i like more. i know this music is a little poppy... im not saying its not, but theres a lot worse you can do...so i wish everyone would just stop trying to pull bands like these down... obviously they have some fans cause their making money. and why should you be mad that they're making money? huh? well whatever, but nfg is still pretty good to me, and i know all you guys have their cds too.... so dont even lie. Yeah, what he said...with the raping and the breaking of toes...yeah! ..yea. Kill new found glory! rip their guts out, eat their flesh, rape their girlfriends, break their toes!! OOOPPSSS. I meant to give it a one below~! WHAT?!?! U fucking idiot, no one said anything about a mohawk you littel stupid kid, fashion has no place in music idiot. The whole point is that NFG suck- as a band, not a punk band, not a rock band, but just as a band they suck period. No childish punk bullshit because that just simply shows how dumb you children are, there's real music and then there's music made for money and without creatvity- NFG is that. Fuck this poor excuse for music. It's an insult to you and it's an insult to me- my intelligence is insulted by the dull, repetitive lyrics and my ears are insulted by a barrage of uninspired tripe with zero originality- if you listen to this crap you simply must be deaf! i forgot how much everyone loves to pull down bands ...music must be dead or something. doesn't seem like there's many bands that people actually like...... they are gonna be ....too popular, or not punk enough.. but does wearing a mohawk really make any difference to anyone these days? im not saying i hate punk because i love it.....but only because it was really good and influencial in its original conception. it annoys me that everyone is trying to be punk now..... be yourSeLf!!!! When I think of New Found Glory I think of bubblegum and Teen magazine- YUCKKK!!!!!! Scroll waaaay down to that first post by CHIMERICALBURST. I absolutely wholeheartedly agree. I'm not going to credit them with being the most inventive band around, but this band definitely does something for me. "I don't understand the constant ripping of NFG. Sure, their self titled and sticks and stones weren't that great, but to tell me that NGCS is not their best work ever is ridiculous. Sound Quality? That's what punk is supposed to sound like, unlike that over manufactured sound that bursts from their last 2 albums. There isn't a song I don't like on NGCS, and Broken Sound is such an amazing song. Sure rip on NFG for becoming mainstream. This band is crap, i dont completely hate them but its very true that these guys are just the backstreet boys with guitars..... NFG is a horrible band with absolutely zero talent. Their vocalist has his voiced fixed up so much in the studio its amazing. If you're into that pop (no, not pop-punk, just pop) sound, then I can see how you might like them, but the fact that they fix themselves up so much on their album and then can't recreated that sound live is embarassing and pathetic to say the least. There are bands with far more talent who can give a great live show while still recreating the sound of their album. Besides, how fun can NFG be to watch? they walk back and forth on the stage. Thats their live show...walking...back and forth...gay. Stating that something sucks because it is "uninspired" or whatever the other shit you said was is just stupid, and definitley elitist. How do you know that they werent inspired to play this? How do you know that they had no emotion, and no inspiration to play this kind of music. I for one feel like New Found Glory is great. You dont have to feel the same. You dont have to accept it as punk (neither do i) but you cant go around claiming it is uninspired because you just have no proof of that... just the same as I have no proof that it is inspired by soemthing.-BostonMusicGuy Yea...this band just sucks. Not because they are mainstream. but because they really suck. I saw them live and they were the most boring band ever. The lead guy did not hit one high note, so the vocals sounded like shit. The funniest thing ever the guitarist said "ok everyone mosh, this songs really heavy!!!" and the song sounded like good charollete and everyone started pogoing. whatever happened to the circle pit????? to the person who credited tom for playing rhythm and lead parts, i'd like to see him do that live. anyone who can play a lead part can do both on a recording. FUCK that. I like their cds. It's not complicated but it's catchy. You guys take your music a little too seriously. They play pop music, so what? If you dont like it, dont listen to it. And society is stupid, but it has nothing to do with liking a certain style of music. Dont get me wrong, people are stupid, but mostly by the way they act. I don't really like the other 2, but this one is more raw and has a better overall feel. People may hate NFG, but this CD isn't exactly the mall punk soundtrack the other 2 are. I like New Found Glory... all of it. The lyrics on the new album are a huge step ahead from the self titled. The guitar work... well im not that great with guitar so I wont complain. To whoever said that they arent trying to further their music, maybe they are and their idea of musical progression is different than yours... ever think of that???-BostonMusicGuy the name's kinda ironic, isn't it? This goes for all of their album. How many songs can you write about breakups and girlfriends? Obviously these guys are trying to reach that level of idiocy while trying to cash in off society's mental slump. Seriously everyone its not that bad no wait yes yes it is. -real punk 3 It's funny, cause i rember a couple years ago, i was in a band that sounded like nfg, not cause i liked it, but i knew a guy in the band who said they were in desperate need of a drummer, so, to help em out i played for em, for about 2 months. The whole 2 months in this band, all thsese guys would talk about is "New found glory, this, New found glory that" , and aside from the band members, they were gettin quite the buzz from people hearing them and whatnot. So, i'm pretty open minded, i like a lot of diffrent music, so i was like "Well, ok, i guess everyones raving about how great they are, i'll check em out" Boy, was i surprised............when i heard the WORST SHIT I'VE EVER LISTEND TO. fucking shit, this album is horrible, and as they've gotten even more overproduced they started sucking even more. Well, this story was pretty pointless, and honestly, you can like this all you want, i could give two shits who likes what band, i just felt like givin my two cents, which, really actually doesn't matter anyway. Blatz to the Future. This album shows NFG's potential. Too bad they went the route of Blink 182 and tried to attract fans instead of developing their music further. Each album after this is a step backwards in terms of lyrical quality. The musicianship is much better on the self titled but Nothing Gold's lyrics are superior. Sticks and Stones is a joke. The lyrics are shallow and the guitar is weak, there is no rhythm at all. Its pathetic. I think its safe to say they sold out or are pretty close to doing so, which is unfortunate. This was a good review. Don't know about the album, but this reviewer needs to do more for this site. Hey, I've got nothing against melodic music, but this sucks. NFG sucks This is the best New Found Glory CD by far. Now lets wait for the comments by the "real punks" about how much NFG sucks. this is by far the best album this band created, musically, lyrically, and in terms of credibility. the lyrics are crushingly more complex than any of the albums that followed, and their songwriting went from inventive and enthralling on this record, to the same four power chords over and over with the records that followed. their successive records were enjoyable but not as impressive as this one. |
