Epitaph Records -- Millencolin

Perhaps Green Day’s best effort to date. While most folks I know prefer the "38/Smooth" through "Dookie" era of Green Day, "Warning" proves to be the most consistently listenable album the Berkley Boys have put together thus far.

Yes, for fans of pure punk rock, I would recommend you look elsewhere. This is the pure pop side of Green Day. Songs like “Warning”, an acoustic pop number, “Macy’s Day Parade”, a syrupy ballad and “Misery”, a demented Primus-influenced waltz will most likely scare off the remaining punker than thou folks who still hung around after “Time of your Life” off of the "Nimrod" album. What I think is great about this album is its total lack of punk fury. In the wake of a new batch of mainstreamer punk like Blink-182, Sum 41 and A New Found Glory, Green Day could have easily just released another "Dookie", and raked in the cash.

Instead, they come out with their most experimental album ever, and it rocks. Say what you will about Green Day, but they are truly modern punk stalwarts, and deserve a special place in the punk history books.

This is a great album. I never said it was punk. However, Good music is good music and no one wants to hear you whiny bitches complaining about how nothing's punk except bands that make no money.

Well, they are still better that all the other radio-frendly pop-punk bans out there.

What's wrong with a band doing something different? Some of Green Day's best work is in this CD. I don't know why everyone thinks that the same formula has to be chewed up and spat out to fans, more disgusting each time around.

I just don't understand why everyone loves green day so much. What is it? They're not talented. Why do people buy their albums? They can't even compare to bands like Rancid, Operation Ivy, or AFI.

green day writes great songs, no matter how fast, loud, or distorted they are.i've never heard a bass line as catchy as warning, and all of the lyrics are awesome. in my humble opinion, green day will never make a bad album.this one isn't their best, but they're all good.

While I hold this album as one of their least appealing, I applaud the effort of writing a review that will be a target for the angry young men that populate this board. Be careful not to make a grammar or cognition error, you will be sacrificed. Funny how some people allign "punk" with synic. (cinic, cynic)(sic)
