This was a rather disappointing release for me, I have heard some really good things about this band, people saying that it was bringing back the early style of hardcore, I thought that the band has potential but on this release just sounds like all the other generic hardcore. I think the band that they sounded a lot like was a softer New Society of Anarchists, or for most of you, Poison Idea, with out all the technical metal parts. I think this album rocks! The reviewers problem is that he listens to CKY and they suck! If you like hardcore punk check this out! The 4 Squares cd is very catchy, and, on the contrary, sounds pretty damn good...See (and listen) for yourselves why these guys may take over Portage Park!! I have no idea who CKY is, or what you're talking about, this is a fucking all-out in your face amazing record, which totally takes you back to early-mid 80s hardcore puck rock. I'm not sure what this reviewer was listening to back then, but it sounds to me like he has his head up his ass. I agree CKY rocks the shit. I'm seeing them live in NY. i have their split 7" with the bollweevils. the songs really rock, this is one release i've actually been looking forward to hearing...this review has taken me away from it a little...but i'm still anxious to hear it. I went on over to Redline Distribution the other day when they had that news article up here and I checked out some of the MP3s while debating what I should order. I listened to the 4 Squares, but it didn't exactly do it for me, eh. I got Supersleuth instead and a ton of other great stuff, so go there now! |
