My first impression: “Hi, we’re Darlington. We sound worse than every over-the-top-pop punk, wannabe-hardcore band that you can possibly fathom.”

After only listening thirty seconds into the first track, “Disneyland”, I decided that I would have to make a conscious effort to give Darlington a fair chance at a decent review. But honestly, listening to this CD all the way through was almost as entertaining as having my wisdom teeth pulled without the benefit of anesthetic.

To begin with, the lyrics of this record can be easily compared to a bad junior high flashback. With song titles such as, “Boobs Boobs Boobs”, “Dorkin’ Around”, “Joe Queer Sucks”, not to mention the handful of tracks named after girls; one would have to ask themselves, “how old are these guys, anyway?” The guitars are less than average, and the singing is unbearably nasal/off key; but if I had to choose a favorite track it would be number nineteen. It’s a full radio interview with Christy and Stevie of Darlington. In it, Christy admits to, “only writing about girls”, “secretly wanting to be in the Backstreet Boys”, and having “recently bought a Spice Girls’ CD”. It’s absolutely fascinating.

Frankly, I don’t enjoy giving bad reviews. I try to stay away from putting a band down, but in this case it was inevitable. You’d either hear it from me, or you’d hear it from some other poor soul that has this record. I’m only thankful that I didn’t have to pay for it. I’m even more thankful that I’ll never have to listen to it again.

In closing: This band does not deserve to have the name “Morrissey” in its CD’s title. Morrissey is amazing, and this record is terrible.

It's a good album, as long as you don't take yourself too seriously like everyone on this site. MRR will probably love it.

Another fashionable "album" made for 12 year olds who watch Nickelodeon. Lame.

Oh he is. Christy used to be a model, I think he still is but i'm not sure what his agency is anymore. The whole band is bad like that. Have you seen Stevey Stress's Poison drummer pics? I think Deep Elm put some up. Omar is also in a doo-wop band complete with suits, tattoos, and hair relaxer. Darlington is causing quite the controversy here, good.

Darlington sounds nothing like those crappy over-produced bands. They are good, they've been around for a while and they still rock. They earned cred. from me at least.

    My Score:

Never heard this band but i don't think ill like it. I hate bands like Simple Plan, New found Glory, Suum 41, Good Charlotte, Blink, Get Up Kids, Allister, the Vines, Weezer.....you know, all that corny, weak, unoriginal pop garbage released in droves this year. So I think 'll stick to listening to the few good records this year.

    My Score:

Darlington is awesome. They are a punk band though. If you think that drive-thru records is what punk is about then you won't like them because they sing too "nasally". Darlington is a rough, snotty, catchy, pop punk band. The reviewer's diss of Darlington is like saying the Ramones suck compared to Journey because Joey can't sing like Steve Perry. Take this album for what it's worth - A great catchy, snotty punk record. Not a junior high prom drive thru makeout record.

morrissey is the greatest dude ever! seriously i dream about being able to write shit like he does. come on the guy really said "hand in glove the sun shines out of our behinds", "you have never been in love until you've seen sunlight thrown over smashed human bones.", and of course the truest song ever "some girls are bigger than others"! pure genious. as for this band who cares they ain't mozz.

Don't listen to this garbage, go buy "Rise Above" or the new Amen album for some real, good hardcore punk rock. Not this or morrissey's crap.

I think Morrissey and all pop punk bands suck (besides Ramones and maybe a couple others), but that is just my opinion. It doesn't mean you don't listen to Minor Threat. I listen to a wide range of music, but i just don't like Morrissey or new pop punk.....sorry.

    My Score:

Bah Morrissey, Smiths are amazing and that is that. Pop punk is overdone and flooded with 'sound the same bands' and that is that. So in conclusion Morrissey other band members (The Smiths) = amazing .. this band and most other pop punk bands = not amazing.

I'd have to say that this band and Morrisey have one thing in common- they both suck terribly.

Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at 3:32 AM (EDT)
    My Score:

People who are into Morrissey don't like harder music. This is true of every single Morrissey fan, according to that one silly guy. Just like how people that like Bright Eyes will never ever ever like Minor Threat. There's no such thing as diversified taste and all you who think there is... well, you're retarded.

Theres a reason this band has been around for a million years, switching between chicago/dallas due to lack of acceptance from either scene, and still have no street cred.

I bought the european version of this album cause I didn't want to wait till they released it in the US. Darlington is one of the greatest bands out right now. If you're into stuff like screeching weasel, the queers, lillingtons, vindictives etc, you will love this record but if you're into stuff like Morrrissey.....well you should have already known you weren't gonna like it too much
