| Appleseed Cast / Ten Grand / Damn Personalslive in Iowa City2002 live show Review by: Jason Brizzi See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on November 12th 2002
This show was about what I expected. Two very good bands and two alright bands. I had high expectations for The Break, actually, because they've played some shows with bands I like and am friend with such as City of Caterpillar and local friends here said that I'd like them. Anyway, it turned out to be a pretty exagerrated pop punk band along the lines of NFG and others. The singer moved and jumped around the stage, it got pretty ridiculous and corny quickly. It's not that I don't like pop punk either—The Crush is one of my favorite bands, for one. All the songs just blended together and I got very bored with it. At any rate, they just seemed pretty out of place at this show, with bands like Appleseed Cast and Ten Grand. Please login or register to post comments. Just a note on 'Lost Songs' - it's old material they never released, *not* an indication of post-low level owl. Haha. It's Jason Brizzi. What's the hell are you doing here? Anyways, Ten Grand is sweet. It's funny that Phish's Keyboardist has their old name now. That is the same Ten Grand. if were talkin about the same 10 grand, (formerly called the vida blue?) then i saw them here in mankato. and they were not...good. Yeah dude the Damn Personals are straight up rock'n'roll. They are the shit! If you ever have a chance to check them out DO NOT miss it they rock hard. The first time I ever saw the Appleseed Cast live was 4 years ago...this small place in Fort Wayne called the Backdoor....still to this day one of the most amazing things I have EVER seen...and I had never even heard of them...I bought an album and didn't like it... I dont think the break is all that bad. It's kinda early 80s pop punk stuff that's pretty catchy. the appleseed cast is fucking brilliant. There is nothing "emo" about the Damn Personals. Straight up rock and fuckin' roll. Great band. I can't really comment on the other since I'm not too familiar with them. |
