Garrison sound like a lot of other bands. That's not necessarily a bad thing; most bands sound like someone else, it's almost impossible to help. It's up to the band to pick good bands to mimic, and Garrison go with some good ones. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
fucking brilliant record! first of all, you don't even know what kind of music i listen to, so i'm not quite sure why you are making fun of my taste in music. second, whoever said i liked fucking garrison? i've never even heard anything by the band. I even wonder if the Descendents fall into your tired brand of pop-punk. i guess they might be sucky too.... nothing compared to Garrison anyway...... no you see, MxPx is actually a GOOD pop-punk band who've been around and made a name for themselves(10yrs??). these bands you've been "keeping an ear out" for bite the big one. sorry, dick. riiiiight and anyway...THIS record is phenominal! yeah, mxpx is pretty sucky too. there's more out there besides this tired brand of pop-punk, buddy. keep an ear out. If the Ataris are "garbage", then i'd like to know what you think isn't garbage. the ataris suckiness makes me forget how ugly they are. seriously, the stuff is garbage. to the person who said the Ataris are the "ugliest band ever". since when are you looking at their faces when you pop in the CD to LISTEN? they fucking rawk and you suck. i think the reference to quicksand was totally off. the ataris are definatley the ugliest band ever. more people like hum than i ever thought. they used to practice two houses down from me. crazy crazy. I just got this record, and i think it rules. it reminds me of Drive Like Jehu.... I think their songs are original, but maybe has a very influenced sound.. i dont think they are trying to rip anyone off, or copy. Hum owns. this band rocks. additionally, its nice to be reminded every now and again that people other than me like hum. how about you review 'you'd prefer..' next? damn fine record, damn fine. right on iodine, gregor samsa and this are 2 of my present loves. -cheryl out of 500 bands i could go see garrison makes number 486 on that list. not bad, just not quite good. Oops, you're right, their producer did the new Cave In EP, not Jupiter. My bad. Fixing now. "hooray" for iodine. casey horrigan is amazing. nicely said, scott. oh and their singer is hot! are you insane!?! i think this record is excellent. garrison are one of my fav. bands. the quicksand ref. is appropriate but they have more swervedriver going on in what they do. and minus point for the reviewer for not realizing andrew did cave-in's new ep not jupiter which was done by brain mcternan. mimicing a band is not cool. influence is one thing, mimicing is another. i think it's 100% possible to do something at least relatively unique. you can take a sound that's been done and do it your own way. but blatantly copying other bands is not cool. i've never heard garrison, so i don't know which they do. i'm just stating a point. Thats not a problem, pretty boy these guys write excellent songs. ALL of their past records have been great. the only problem i see with this band is that they are the band that wins the award for "ugliest band ever". |
