Have you ever had an orgasm so earth-shattering you almost fainted? Given the average age and maturity level of the users on this site, it's not likely, but all joking aside - that is exactly what listening to this album will do to you. Bringing to the table a mirage of influences, ranging from Poison the Well, Remembering Never, Until the End, Shai Hulud and even Bad Religion, Evergreen Terrace is not one to disappoint any fan of the grindcore scene. Every song is like a fist to the center of your face, and it rarely slows down to give you time to recoup, and that's been a growing rarity with all the emocore bands emerging out of ratholes you never even knew existed. If in-your-face/shut-the-fuck-up kind of music is what you're after, look nowhere else than right here.

    despite this being like 2 years old, it caught my eye. this person is retarded, same goes for this whole chain of responses. but this person in particular because of the last sentence mainly. the belief is that one goes to hell because he/she does not believe in God and has not accepted Him into his/her life. the Bible says that everyone sins, everyone is born a sinner. the person who wrote that is an imbecile.

    whatever, either way, this is a "hardcore" band and hardcore is a place where people are to come together and to be united. to share what they believe, whatever that may be, and to have equal and mutual respect for others and what they believe in. it's these stupid kids that come on these damn websites every day to try and put down someone else over the fucking INTERNET that make me laugh and realize how retarded this country, and scene, is becoming.

    Who's to say what's accurate? Anyone who follows rules from a book written 2000 years ago (supposedly) probably by someone jerk off trying to get people to follow him. How much blood has been spilt over religious conflicts? More than any other cause! The crusades, the ongoing conflict in the middleeast, when euorpeans first settled the americas they cowardly murdered all the natives, much because they thought they were "animals" for having different (and might I add more peaceful) beliefs. Religion in general brainwashes people from birth, or people who are weak chose to find solace in "god".

    first of all, you are way off. religion is a very long-lasting tradition, and you are probably the most presumptious person i have ever heard from by saying that it is fascist. it is obvious you do not know much about religion. maybe if you knew anything about any religions besides the most common, because your statements do not represent very many. i dont see how you could possibly see how you could be so ignorant. what you are assumingis that you are right, and everyone else is wrong. this is EXACTLY what you are criticizing religions for. this would make you a hypocrite. how do you know you are right? you are being IGNORANT. i dont know how better to explain this.

    Anybody who believes in an organized religion is a facist....you know why? Almost all religions believe that "sinners" go to hell and that "divine command" is the ultimate power. That is ignorance, pure ignorance. Just as racism and censorship is ignorant. I don't "hate" anyone, even though you said that I do. I just think people need to use their OWN minds a little bit more and let go of the bullshit, ignorant restraints that surround them. I see it everyday, people putting other people down for doing things that all humans should do.....like having sex. I've seen many religious bastards bag on people for fucking a lot or before marriage, it's just stupid, weak bullshit. Life is short, get off with attractive people as much as possible.     hardcore is about fun, genuine positivity, circle pits, diy and most of all FAST MUSIC.

    all the shitty bands you people listen to and refer to as "hardcore" dont have any of that. bands like what happens next?, tear it up, lifes halt, etc. all stay true to what hardcore is about. no metal riffs, no tough guy bullshit, no kickboxing crap. just fun fast music.

    you are correct about open hand, they have much more of a marketable sound than evergreen does. and i know that they're not on a major, but with so many bands being picked up these days, it just wouldn't surprise me.

    ET isn't on a major label for one thing, and if you aren't going to define hardcore don't say this band isn't hardcore. I don't really think they've dumbed down the genre or the niche they've found in said genre. I also think we'll be seeing far more pop punk kids picking up Open Hand's latest CD than this one. That's not a shot at Open Hand, but they're more accesible soundwise than ET.

    i did not and do not claim to be some sort of uber-punk. while my statements were harsh, i feel that they are justified (at least in my head anyway...). sure ET is a good band, great musicians, catcy songs, super-cool jumpkicks on stage, etc; i don't argue with that. i do have problems with bands that find a niche, copy it, and then dumb it down. ET is not a real hardcore band, i'm sorry. however, i'm not going to define hardcore for you because 1. it's not possible to define a musical movement (re. 'emo') and 2. hardcore is long since dead. neither will i list bands that i like because 1. i have no idea where to start (how about we start a top 5 hardcore LP list?) and 2. i actually listen to some of these bands that i'm typing about. hypocrite? sure, why not; i've been called worse. i was just trying to mix it up a bit, get some kids to think outside the box. did it work? anyone care? this whole thing is ours, you know. punk, hardcore, whatever-core shouldn't be on TV, shouldn't be in the mall. take part! form a band (who cares if you don't play!), make a zine, put on a show. see? it all works without major labels, booking agents, and websites.
    i'm done. here are MY current top 5 hardcore LP's in no particular order.

    Lyrics are half of what makes music enjoyable...I sure as hell couldn't listen to a band that is racist or religious, because the lyrics promote ignorance. Usually MUSIC is a combination of the listener relating to the lyrics and loving the music. I n many cases, the lyrics are EVEN MORE important if they speak to you well. In Bad Religion's case, not only are the melodys awesome and the playing superb....but what set's Bad Religion apart from ALL other bands in all genres is Greg's extremely intelligent lyrics and the issues they tackle. It's pretty cool stuff, I'm taking philosophy & sociology courses for a masters right now and I have emailed Greg many questions for his opinion and he has answered...it's cool having frontmen who can do more than drink themselves into a stupper.

    I don't see what straight edge and veganism has to do with christianity. I'm a "straight edge" (as in I don't drink, smoke or eat garbage....but I do "fuck"...not the cult straight edge shit), plus I'm a vegetarian, mainly because it's healthier and the way they kill animals is fucked....enough fat people in this country already, they don't need more beef. But I think Religion, especially christianity, is fucking stupid. Anyone who believes that shit needs to crawl out of that rock they've been hiding under.     Before I moved to college, the only scene in the town I lived in was Christian hardcore. The fans suck. They're generally violent straight edgers or vegans who like to do lots of spin kicking and high kicking. They punch people intentionally and start fights. I love to dance, but I wasn't getting anywhere near those washed up Christ jocks and their intolerant attitude. They'd probably have beat the shit me if they ever found out I didn't believe in their religion. Anyway, this was the only band I ever got a cd of at one of these shows. They kept the music interesting and their lyrics weren't all of that "Christ help me kill the blasphemers". That was their old cd. I haven't heard the new one, but if it's like the old one it's not straight up chugga-chugga-chugga, their music's pretty good even if their scene sucks.

    I used to be in a band way before these guys also called Evergreen Terrace. Then I left the band and they changed the name to The Full Nine, but not that one. Therefore, I automatically hate both of those bands for stealing our names.
