Published on January 24th 2003 Have you ever had an orgasm so earth-shattering you almost fainted? Given the average age and maturity level of the users on this site, it's not likely, but all joking aside - that is exactly what listening to this album will do to you. Bringing to the table a mirage of influences, ranging from Poison the Well, Remembering Never, Until the End, Shai Hulud and even Bad Religion, Evergreen Terrace is not one to disappoint any fan of the grindcore scene. Every song is like a fist to the center of your face, and it rarely slows down to give you time to recoup, and that's been a growing rarity with all the emocore bands emerging out of ratholes you never even knew existed. If in-your-face/shut-the-fuck-up kind of music is what you're after, look nowhere else than right here. Donnie... is an amazing track. one of my favorite albums to date. even though as talked about previously on this page, i enjoy a fair deal of grindcore and i also love evergreen terrace. heh if you have something to say, pussy, why don't you try not clicking the 'anonymous' button when you do it? fucking piece of shit im not mexican but i like mexican food what the hell are you talking about? fans of grindcore shit wouldn't enjoy this band at all. if you'll notice, morons, i never said evergreen terrace was grindcore. i just said if you _liked_ grindcore, this wouldn't be too far of a stretch. suck my balls. Anyone who follows rules from a book written 2000 years ago (supposedly) probably by someone jerk off trying to get people to follow him. How much blood has been spilt over religious conflicts? More than any other cause! The crusades, the ongoing conflict in the middleeast, when euorpeans first settled the americas they cowardly murdered all the natives, much because they thought they were "animals" for having different (and might I add more peaceful) beliefs. ET isn't on a major label for one thing, and if you aren't going to define hardcore don't say this band isn't hardcore. I don't really think they've dumbed down the genre or the niche they've found in said genre. I also think we'll be seeing far more pop punk kids picking up Open Hand's latest CD than this one. That's not a shot at Open Hand, but they're more accesible soundwise than ET. the following comment from your pal, exhaustra fortyminuteswest. & everybody else. Lyrics are half of what makes music enjoyable...I sure as hell couldn't listen to a band that is racist or religious, because the lyrics promote ignorance. Usually MUSIC is a combination of the listener relating to the lyrics and loving the music. I n many cases, the lyrics are EVEN MORE important if they speak to you well. In Bad Religion's case, not only are the melodys awesome and the playing superb....but what set's Bad Religion apart from ALL other bands in all genres is Greg's extremely intelligent lyrics and the issues they tackle. It's pretty cool stuff, I'm taking philosophy & sociology courses for a masters right now and I have emailed Greg many questions for his opinion and he has answered...it's cool having frontmen who can do more than drink themselves into a stupper. you stupid fucks and to the kid who wants to know how a Christian band is influenced by bad religion you are a retard. the may are may not believe in what Greg graffin has to say but that’s just lyrics and the lyrics aren’t the music. I draw influence from straight edge bands but im not straight edge, oh my god isn’t that an amazing concept. and just to add this cd is amazing "there's really no difference in evergreen's 'hardcore' and the latest pop-punk sensation. they dress the same, they act the same, probably went to (or are still in) the same high school together. their albums get marketed to the same kids, same zines, same sites, shit they'll be label-mates on island or epic sooner or later. there's no more meaning in one band screaming over a double-bass pedal or one band harmonizing over an acoustic guitar...IT ALL SUCKS. sure evergreen doesn't sound exactly like poison the well, but FUCKING CLOSE ENOUGH! don't you people want something different? are you really ok with listening to the same crap band after crap band? newsflash...punk, hardcore, whatever you're calling it this week, doesn't exsist anymore. punk is now just an idea and the musical translations we are being bombarded with are weak parodies of their predecessors. remember when punk was dangerous? exciting? no, i guess you don't. Dude, if Ilived in your town I'd make it my mission to beat the shit out of those little god boys. Before I moved to college, the only scene in the town I lived in was Christian hardcore. The fans suck. They're generally violent straight edgers or vegans who like to do lots of spin kicking and high kicking. They punch people intentionally and start fights. I love to dance, but I wasn't getting anywhere near those washed up Christ jocks and their intolerant attitude. They'd probably have beat the shit me if they ever found out I didn't believe in their religion. Anyway, this was the only band I ever got a cd of at one of these shows. They kept the music interesting and their lyrics weren't all of that "Christ help me kill the blasphemers". That was their old cd. I haven't heard the new one, but if it's like the old one it's not straight up chugga-chugga-chugga, their music's pretty good even if their scene sucks. pretty good dancing music? maybe if you're into shitty kickboxing. booo kickboxing. that shit is lame. mosh. hm...i don't hear the "bad religion influence." umm, only one guy in the band is christian..its good to see you want everyone to know how uninformed you are though...and it was released on eulogy how could a stupid christian band name a great band like bad religion as their influence?! Probably good dancing music. Anyone know what label this album is on? Like soneone said before... Evergreen Terrace is the street the Simpsons live on.... and thats good enough for me. Great CD, but these guys sure as hell are nothing close to grindcore. i dig evergreen terrace... but uh this review didn't exactly make me go buy their album. maybe you shoulda described some of the songs a bit.. I used to be in a band way before these guys also called Evergreen Terrace. Then I left the band and they changed the name to The Full Nine, but not that one. Therefore, I automatically hate both of those bands for stealing our names. They rock. yeah id like more in the review, like why it stands out from the other bands. OK review, amazing band, amazing album. FLA in the hiz-ouse! |
