Well well well, I must say I'm very disappointed by this album. The whole album in my opinion is very bland. It seems as though there's a Propagandhi clone on the same label as Propagandhi. Zero Down did a very poor job of trying to clone Propagandhi. They are not intelligent enough to pull off the political issues they are trying to convey. The words they are using are big and lenthful and because of this most kids will actually think they mean something, when in fact they are just big words that mean nothingness. I can get through the first 5 songs but then it just becomes one really long song after that...nothing to special, and whoever did the layout work for the album better check out the credits because the lettering is very blurry. Try not using BOLD on such a small font. Not one of the greatest fat releases, very mediocre.

terrible, terrible review. It's one of the most misinformed and half-assed reviews ever. Stretching a bit when she starts nitpicking the font in the liner notes. This is one of my all time favourite CD's by a band i don’t think anyone knows enough about. I first heard one of there songs on a snowboarding video a couple years back but i just got the CD last month. It has a very unique sound and unlike a lot of "punk" music, the lead singer doesn't sound like a whining little b*tch whose nuts haven't dropped yet. I would definitely recommend buying this CD. Whether this album sounds like other bands or not doesn't matter a damn to me. The music, singing and lyrics are all amazing and I'm sure that anyone who likes this genre at all will like this album. Extremly pissed off and relatable lyrics this reviewer should be fired i cant for the life of me figure out what drug you were on when you wrote this review but zero down is nowhere near a propaghandi clone so i suggest you take the propaghandi cd out of your cd player and actually listen to the lyrics in zero down This cd is one of my favorites. It is not political, it talks about Jim Cherrys(RIP) life. Good from beginning to end, 30 times over. Also on a side note, this reviewer is aweful, I wouldn't let her/him review anymore cds. She should also get her head out of last chances ass. fuck you all this album rocked. they didn't try to be political or anything and of course it sounds like strung out jim cherry the vocalist wrote most of strung out's songs. bummer he died though. zero down could have released tons of more good albums. its not anything like propagandhi, its dumbed down stupified strung out. probably cuz of jim cherry. but its still an awesome cd. This album sucks. It is so bland. There is no variety. Don't waste your money on this. Buy some Strung-Out or NoFx or even fucking Allister for shit's sake. I really don't understand this review, I don't think this album was trying to be political. This album is just about personal life experiences. I think the songs are powerfully written and you can really see that in the way the band sings and plays. This is my favorite album of all time, because I can identify with all of the songs. That's the point of music; to convey a feeling, whether it be anger, deperation, happines, sickness, or rage at the current social status quo. This album does it beautifully, and thats what makes it great. i saw these guys live a few months ago and was very impressed. they were opening for sick of it all/afi and no one really got into them. they do sound really full for a 3 piece. down this road is an awesome song. shitty review. Good album, The cover art rules...You dont know how many times i have wanted to do that to my computer! The band sounds so full to just be a 3 piece. The drummer is amazing....he ranks up there with byron, jordan, tony, and all the other amazing drummers of today....if you dont feel like spending $18 on it...order it from fat..its just $10 This album rocks........ I really dig this album, and not just because it's on Fat. I've interviewed Jim, he's a nice guy, and very personable at their shows. He's an amazing songwriter (see Strung Out, of course) and the songs on With A Lifetime To Pay are (lyrically)very poised and tell stories about his life that just happen to be social criticism. He had a tough period in his life after getting booted from Strung Out and the songs reflect the desperation and confusion he was feeling. Musically it might be somewhat derivative, but it points towards promising future releases. I just want to know how they could leave "Down This Road" off the album...that's a killer tune. The real reason I thought this was disappointing was because it features Jim from Strung Out, who's efforts in Strung Out and Pulley were great. The fact that he was kicked out after Twisted By Design and before Sonic Defiance makes me wonder how much of a songwriter he was, since the songs went from memorable and great, to kind of bland in Defiance. i thought this was pretty good for a debut album. my bet is that their next one will be a lot better, then everyone and their brother will be sportin' zero down t shirts. i've heard the hole album and i have to say, that zero down is just a typical fat-band, i like some bands on fat, but the most sound the same, if strung out would have released "a lifetime to pay", it would certainly sound the same, zero down is just another fatwreck-band, and the kids like everything on fatwreck... Hmmm i pretty much liked this album.Better than the latest strung out crap.It's not worldshocking,but what is at Fat Wreck these days,besides the new Propaghandi. I can't believe this review. Zero Down is a clone of Propagandhi?!? Hardly. They sound more like Strung Out or Pulley, and they are not as politic-driven as Propagandhi at all. Nevertheless it IS possible for a band to be politically aware and not be a clone of Propagandhi or another political band. "lenthful" and "nothingness" are not even words... |
