Dont you love the excitement you feel before going to a show? Well that was doubled for me as I was on my way to the Further Seems Forever record release party at The Factory in Ft. Lauderdale. I'm from Orlando, so going to a show somewhere other than the normal venues is exciting; espcially when it's a south Florida band playing in south Florida, there's that "hometown" excitement. nice review Ha! This reviewer must be about twelve! Liking Ska, not knowing Elliott (even if you don't like them they've been here forever) and being sad and retaliating when someone gives you tips for your next review. Ha that is funny shit. It was a good review. to the comment below, i bet seeing taking back sunday and early november on a sunday in early november was like typing "yahoo" into yahoo.com. fireworks! Hey Hey guess what I saw both The Early November and Taking Back Sunday on a Sunday in Early November....it was crazy Did anyone here listen to Falling Forward? I think the singer from Elliott was in Falling Forward. "Don't you just hate it when someone - who is obviously suffering from a staggering lack of self-esteem - makes a half-witted, absolutely moronic comment on a web board (ie; go cry into a pillow, or count to ten before you burst) which is intented soley as a means to belittle, and then is doubly compounded by some knob who thinks it was the best thing ever, and the only thing left for you to do is shove the words "ooooooh kaaaaay" into a bazooka and shoot them into outer space? Yeah, me too." i still love elliotts "false cathedrals". but note the "still". i was really excited to see them live but that new guitar player, the one who prances around like a stripper onstage, ruined it for me. constant guitar noodling over good songs CAN be ok, but it wasn't. they suck live. i can listen to "false cathedrals" all day but i got impatient seeing them live too. get rid of the new guy. Don't you just hate it when someone - who is obviously suffering from a staggering lack of self-esteem - makes a half-witted, absolutely moronic comment on a web board (ie; go cry into a pillow, or count to ten before you burst) which is intented soley as a means to belittle, and then is doubly compounded by some knob who thinks it was the best thing ever, and the only thing left for you to do is shove the words "ooooooh kaaaaay" into a bazooka and shoot them into outer space? Yeah, me too. Best comment of the day award. I hate Elliott too. "Further Seems Forever / Elliott / Early November / Salem" insert SUBjective for objective I find it strange that someone who likes Further Seems Forever that much has never heard of Elliot. Not good or bad persay, just strange. Elliot has been doing this for years on top of years, creating emotional music before the starting line were in grade school. I stopped reading your review after I read the line about it being artsy, because my dear that is just a poor choice of words and took very little thought on your part. Just because it's slow doesn't make it exude extra "art". Try not to make your reviews so objective and they will come across with a better stand point. It seems to me that the reviewer - despite her obvious (and kinda weird) love for ska - is sincere in her desire to embody what I would classify as the 'punk spirit.' That is, supporting the bands by attending a show, experiencing something new and then trying to give something back to the community (that being the review). I didn’t realize that before attending a show we were all supposed to be well versed on the bio of each band. She went to a show, saw one band she knew and three others that she wasn’t as familiar with. Isn’t that what this scene is all about? I mean, I’m sure that Further Seems Forever appreciates the fact that they might be gaining fans via those who came to see Elliott or Salem...and vice versa. While the review wasn’t the most descriptive, it appears that the only thing truly wrong with this thread (beside the fact that someone thinks Far was the originator of Emo) is that a bunch of Elliot fans got miffed that someone said something less than flattering about their fave band. GASP! It happens dudes, get over it. It’s noble that you all came to the rescue of Elliott (ie; Elliott makes me wanna wack it! Wheeeeee! That’s good stuff.) but there doesn’t have to be personal attacks thrown in the mix. Some of you forget that you weren’t at the actual show. Maybe Elliott did suck it that night. "do some fucking homework" did you ever think my "homework" for finding out about bands i dont know is to go to their shows?? I dont have a great computer so i can't download music, so i'll pick up a sampler here and there an go to shows to hear new stuff. so think before you start typing and maybe you'll sound more intellegent. "raise the bar." How bout you raise the bar and stop being anonymous and write some of your own reviews??? just some food for thought ...and then was this other band I've never heard of.. and then was this other band that I've never heard of.. do some fucking homework. I read this shit to find out what shows are like in other states or in other scenes and I always get crap reviews from people. Honestly raise the bar. the the guy who says as friends rust would get blown away by hwm... It's so funny how some people will just sit back and do nothing, then flame the ones who try. It's even funnier that the same people that started flaming will suddenly (and obviously) post as anonymous. I'm only anon because i'm lazy and hate punk :P I have no idea who these bands are and I'm not about to pretend I know anything about their sounds. Why am I writing? Because I think everyone should have the right to write a review and take pride in what they have to say, even when a bunch of FSF, Elliott, Early Nov and Salem band freaks begin to lose their cool in the form of heinous notes. Good job IlikeSka. (Half Past Noon) First off... Far kicks ass. Second, Elliott kicks a lot more ass, this band is just disgustingly good. Third, sorry, kid, your review really wasn't that great (even outside of your poor opinions). That is all. Oh wait, the scooter/jizz/scott comment: what the fuck? Honestly now... You guys are so lame. "You shouldnt like that band, you should like this band." "This band is the best band in the history of music." "This reviewer should die because she doesn't like a band I like." etc etc. You can never discuss the bands or the tour that was talked about in the review. You're always attacking the reviewer personally, or bringing up bands that aren't related to the the review. hey, spell check genius, Far did not start "emo". although it took you 3 times, well said! That was the worst review i have ever read so hopefully it will be your last. Elliott (that's 2 T's for all you who claim to be fans but cant spell it right *timus*) is the most powerful band since the originaters of this whole "emo" scene, Far, and will make any other band sound worse than NFG. It doesnt surprise me though as to why you would think FSF is better... because Chris Carrabba used to be in the band and anything associated with him should be hailed to, huh? pathetic. This review was one of the worst ones i have ever read so hopefully it will be your last. Elliott (that's 2 T's for all you who claim to like them yet can't spell the name correctly *timus*) is one of the most powerful bands since the originaters of this whole "emo" scene, Far, and they will make anyother band on this tour sound worse than NFG... so dont even try to discredit that Mrs. Carrabba. i call you that because you are probably some MTV-loving little girl who thinks anything associated with Chris Carrabba should be hailed by all. pathetic I was at this show also. I was really disapointed in it. The bands didn't do anything great to impress me and the audio was horrid. It was so plat sounding. It sounded like a radion broadcast vs a compact disc. All bass, very little mid, and the treble wasn't there. I think the fact that the audio stunk so bad made it really hard to enjoy any of the music. I'm not sure if anyone stuck around after it was over for the late night show, but the best band of the night played then. A local band called .08 (Point O 8) Anyway, on a scale of one to 10. I'lle give the main show a C. I'm surprised scott had time to take his hands out of his pants long enough to type his moronic response. Don't let your fingers slip off of the keyboard there scooter with all that goo all over them.......... That reviewer is really something special !!!! I felt like I was there !!! 1. As Friends Rust was amazing. Salem is shit. Salem with Hot Water Music? Do you want them to get blown away? They shouldnt even be in the same building with them. I saw them a couple weeks ago and thought they were a very bland and average band. At least at that show they were. FSF is a decent band, looking forward to hearing the new album. Peace, sometimes, a certain group of human beings come together a a group, pick up musical instruments, and consequently rock harder than anything this world has ever known. this group is called elliot, end of story. timis, i think it is funny you give off this "i am better than you and know all the best bands" vibe, i would just like to say, this review is my opinion (since you seem to have forgotten that). also, i did not say that Elliot is the worst of all time and anyone who likes them needs to go kill themselves...lol. i dont understand why you make me out to be some hot topic groupie...i dont think those kids even know what SKA is, and i mean real ska. so yeah, just stop *trying* to start shit please and i'll be a very happy person, but now that i said that you'll just keep on going.... salem shouldn't be playing with bands like this. they played the movielife/brand new tour too. lame. put salem back on the road with hot water music and trent from cadillac blindside's new band. and trust me, it'll blow you away. My apologies too about making fun of your screen name. here let me make it better. "Artsy music"? You must have meant to have said "good music" because Elliott destroys FSF and Early November. If you want to hear bland bands that sound like everything else out there, check out those bands. If you want a band that's unique and powerful, check out Elliott. My apologies, madam. Let's try this again. if you like FSF and don't know who Elliot is, you need to get out of Hot Topic. scott- Elliott kicks ass and the new album will be awesome! When I saw Elliott, they fucked with Drive Onto Me too much and I didn't like the new arrangement at all. i think his/her chump screen name says it all scott..... Dear sir- |
