I don't see thought how people cannot like at least SOME of their songs, like "To the Tune of 5,000 Screaming Children", "Constellation", "Duane Joseph", "Is Patience Still Waiting", and "If I Told You This Was Killing Me." Oh well I guess.

Yep. You're a genius Waste. Compared to most bands, this list is not too bad. Also, consider that all the stuff about equipment and stage placement is rather normal for bands to do, and I assure you most venues have No trouble providing that stuff, it's more of a heads up as in what to be ready to set up. Also consider that they are on Epic Records now. The only thing they had say in probably was the stage set up and the food (which again, is NOTHING compared to a lot of other bands) I know for a fact the venue I saw them at a few weeks ago did not live up to half of these "requirments" and they played...yea.

Bands often have a ridiculous list of food and beverage wants for tours. This is usually due to this situation:
Tour manager: *phone rings* "Hey guys, this is Bob. What stuff do you guys want for catering?"
Band guys: "Oh, um, Hot Dogs, and uh, hey, doesn't Jeff like Triscuits? Yea, and popcorn, haha. Hmmm, what else, Chris really likes Bud Light, and get some of coke or something too, and maybe some Sprite, and might as well get some skittles, we all like those. What else? Well, I think we all need water too, you know waters good when you are on stage"...etc etc etc, you see how it goes. Welcome to the world of touring in a band that sells records people.

Sadly, yet another case of people trying to find "faults" in bands, simply because they think they can convince others to hate them. Nice try though.

Technical Requirements

Promoter to provide at no cost to Artist adequate sound (consisting of at least a vocal and keyboard P.A.) and lights in excellent working condition. Keep in mind, the juliana theory uses 5 (5) amplifiers (broken down into the following): three guitar players (including one acoustic guitar), a bass guitar, and a keyboard.

If direct boxes are to be used: one (1) mono direct box for the bass guitar will be needed and one (1) stereo direct box will be needed for the keyboard will be needed.

-No less than two (4) High- Quality vocal mics with accompanying straight microphone stands.
-No less than four (4) PA monitors including three (3) front wedges and one (1) drum monitor.
-Sound must accomodate the use of an in-ear monitor system. This requires at least one (1) auxillary (or comparable) send that is unoccupied by any other instrument. It also requires one power supply.

Stage Plot

From stage right to stage left:
One guitar half stack. One bass guitar rig. One large keyboard amp. 4 Piece drum kit (at center stage). One combo guitar amplifier. One guitar half stack. Microphones: one at very far stage right. one at stage right. one at center. one at very far stage left.

Conditions
· Promoter to provide ten (10) complimentary tickets per show or comparable
space on the guest list. Promoter to provide accurate address information and directions to the venue. These should be faxed or emailed to artist booking agency at least two (2) weeks prior to show. Promoter to provide Artist with adequate and detailed accounting of all box office receipts, including an account of guests.
Promoter will guarantee space for a large van and trailer directly
outside of the venue.
Promoter to pay guarantee directly to band representative before
performance on night of show.
Promoter shall be responsible for the security of the Artist and Artist's
property while Artist is in the venue.
Artist reserves the right to sell merchandise at the show(s) and retain
all profits.
Artist reserve the right to audio and videotape performances at the venue at the venue at no cost whatever. Still photographers are always welcome and encouraged.
If promoter does not comply with the rider, Artist has the right to
cancel, in which case the guarantee will nonetheless be due and payable.
Cancellation by promoter or venue less than four (4) weeks prior to
engagement will result in full payment of the guarantee to the artist,
regardless of reason for cancellation."

The Juliana Theory was the band that got me into "the scene" in the first place, and while I used to love them, I absolutely hate this album. It is incredibly boring to listen to besides "Congratulations" and "Into the Dark", which wasn't even written for this album. I am just going to pretend that this cd did not come from them. Thank god it's being sold for so cheap though.

The thing about thins band is, the first time I saw them I thought they were amazing, it was in a small club and their self-assuredness and rock staredness really got me, but later in a larger venue I realized that although I liked some of their songs, these guys were too pompous to take seriously.

They aren't emo. They aren't rockstars. They don't suck live. Brett doesn't use a headset, he uses an ear monitor so he can hear his band because he's hard of hearing. Who cares what bands wear. Quit sucking up to Buddyhead.com.

As for the album, it has some bright spots. I really like In Conversation and Bring It Low. But I still prefer their older stuff. Yea.

why the fuck are people comparing this shit to Coheed? did i miss something. these bands sound nothing alike.while i think coheed is overrated (i mean cmon,evey song on the album is like 6 minutes long and sounds liek a variatiuon of the track b4 it), this album is complete shit. fuck fuck fuck this kind of uninventive sedative music. do something new or do somehting exciting. not every band has to reinvent rock and roll, but at least do something fun then. these guys had some fucking song that went 'baaaaby baaaaby bayb baybebyabyyab" i mean how fucking lame is that?this brett detar dork ( who i hear is from pittsburgh,tell me thats not true, i'm from pitt and thats more embarassing than having to admit anti flag is the most accomplished punk band from this area) acts like he's brian wilson or something, with the whole concept album and shit. and LOVE. what the fuck. with an album title like that you better have a go;ddam profound musical statement to make. this better be led zepplin 4 part 2. but no. its actually the same old boo hoo dorkus pseudo tortured artist drivel on the previous albums. fuck fuck fuck fuck. i need to go listen to the new afi again.

i honestly tried to get into these guys. i heard all the fuss about them 2 to 3 years ago, so i borrowed the first 2 albums off him. i don't get it. whats the big deal? i mean their not terrible...but definately not good. i've heard worse. i hear this album just sounds like incubus or something. the single is terrible. they have completey changed their style album to album from what i can pick up. thats cool if your saves the day and you change for the better or something equally good. they make me want to poop. i have to go poop now

This is definitely a great cd. No, its not emo. No they're not stupid rockstars. He wears leather pants, yes, but if you base your judgement on bands based on what they wear then you shouldn't listen to any music. Go out and buy it and listen to it, its great.

man for whoever it was who mentioned zao, yah they rocked. and still do all the time. as for juliana theory well im up and down on them . i mean sometimes i like them othertimes i dont. i mean it depends on teh song and the album. The ep they put out music from another room i think thats what it is was actually pretty good. but emotion is dead has soem really dead tracks on it. but for the most part pretty accomplished band in theyre own right i would proboly listen to this album cause id like to hear what they are doing now.

Yeah, it sucks about this band. I remember right before Understand this is a Dream came out I saw them at a show with like 10 kids. I liked that album and it went steadily downhill since then. Then I tried to support them just because they were from Pittsburgh, support your scene you know, but I couldn't even do that; iI have never been so dissapointed about a band. They just played at Penn State and were complaining that it was the smallest stage and audience they have ever played. Fuck Bret Deter and his long hair and his headset mic and his tight leather pants. You should go see them just for the trainwreck that is the Juliana theory live.

Juliana Theory is one of the best bands easily to come out of the emo trend and still have a credible name. Their music is honest, incredible and intelligent, not too mention that they are incredibly talented. The riffage, especially on this album really packs a punch. Granted, this is more of a rock album than punk or emo, but that is always where they were headed anyway. For those of you who are skeptics, remember Brett (the lead singer) played in Zao. Also, I must add that you don't truly know this band until you have seen them live. I saw them two nights ago with a bunch of trashy bands from the record label, but if you can catch em with anyone, you will be truly blessed I promise you. My favorite live show by far. Definately pick this album up or at least give it a listen, it isnt radio mumbo jumbo and its definately not your little sister's emo. It is sparkling well written excellent rock music.

i agree with the post below me. the lead singer looks like the guy from creed. onstage he looks like such an ass. I remember seeing them a long time ago in a little youth center. i didnt think they were bad, but when i saw them recently, i seriously wanted to kill myself. Suddenly they think they're huge rockstars. The only band worse than them is the band that opened for them, vendetta red.
