Epitaph Records -- Millencolin

Bands like the Blood Brothers don't just pop out of nowhere, but to many mainstream fans, it may seem that this is just what they've done. Last year they came out with the phenomenal "March On Electric Children" on Justin Pearson of The Locust's label, Three.One.G. Fans of that album will not be disappointed.

Burn Piano Island, Burn picks up right where March On Electric Children left off, furthering the stories of the siamese gun and of course Piano Island. And musically, well musically, it's the greatest thing I've ever heard. This album has such raw intensity, such passionate vocals, such spastic melodies that...well you won't be able to stop yourself from jumping up and dancing around screaming like an idiot along with the words.

Personally I think it may be a little too intense for mainstream listeners, but obviously ARTISTdirect doesn't think so. Any diehard fan of punk rock or hardcore will surely appreciate this masterpiece though.

It also shows growth on behalf of the Blood Brothers. The Jerome's Dream-esque song "Guitarmy" shows that the band doesn't care to stick to typical format, while the experimental "Piano Song" demonstrates the group's ability to branch out and leave behind their typically guitar led music. Fans may or may not be pleased that the band is more fully utilizing the keyboards in songs like "Cecilia & The Silhouette Saloon."

I could talk about this album for hours to tell you the truth, tell you every last thing about it, but I'll let you discover this on your own. It's gonna blow your fucking mind.

I think this album was one of their best, they toned down with crimes and then again with Young Machetes.

I'd like to reiterate that this album may require multiple listens for newer fans. However, once you realize the talent of the band, perfection of the lyrics, and beauty of the vocals, you'll see why so many people shit their pants over this band.

The Blood Brothers don't tour much anywhere other than the west coast, but should they come to your town, I would strongly advise against not seeing them. The energy at the shows is insane and Jordan really does manage to hit all of the notes perfectly. You'll definetely be kicking yourself for missing out.

I've tried. I really have. With this album, but mostly with the previous two albums. I first learned about them through Waxwing, but I just can't get into it. I just don't think metal or hardcore can be done by someone with a nasally, high pitched voice. It just sounds like you're fast forwarding a childrens nursery rhyme sing-a-long tape.

Well, to each her own, but I don't understand how anyone can listen to this. After seeing them the first time, I thought they were one of the worst bands I've ever seen, but deceided to give them a second chance. I should've listened to my first instincts. Drummer and bass player seem competant, but the guitars are horrendous. And the vocals. . .not exactly sure what they are screaming, but it sounds like two little kids screaming for their parents in a haunted house. . .hardly listenable. But if thats your thing, I guess you would like this album.

couldn't find the e-card you were talking about...i downloaded ambulance vs ambulance instead since i found that online. i like the lead singer who sounds like jason nelson when he's actually singing but that's because i'm a fan of mu330 and orangetree....i still don't see much of anything that's revolutionary or special to the point of this kind of praise.

if you want revolutionary...listen to the first movement of john adams' harmonielehre if you can find it somewhere...it's just one chord but the way the guy makes use of it and the way he orchestrates it and all....that's revolutionary. using one chord and making 17:14 of music out of it. then again....that isn't punk. i guess it's revolutionary in punk....but how hard is it? just copy some old hardcore to proove that you're punk and do faster experimental rock and you're revolutionary. then again, i don't have much right to speak i've yet to write anything fresh/new.....in any genre for that matter. then again, who knows?

i dunno, i'm really jaded and pissed at the world so excuse me if i'm being an asshole.

but as far as this band being the saviors of punk, that's bullshit. punk has no saviors, just survivors and those who market it.

*checks out the 3 videos on the website*

....i don't see what's so fresh or new or exciting about this group.....all the singer does is scream in a really high pictched voice and the music isn't anything new.

i can't really see how you people can praise such people for doing something that isn't really that special....at most they combined some of the riffs of emo music and mixed it with screaming unintelligble vocals.

then again, i've only heard the 3 songs that they have on the site that i can listen to. so maybe there's some other side to this great and wonderful band? maybe some other type of music to it? because if not, this band is just pure shit.

is there any song i could listen to that has a different sound from birthskin or jennifer or siamese gun?

this is all unimpressive so far....

I know my 2 cents really don't matter, from reading all these comments...but I'd like to say that this is the best album i've bought then Progress by RxB two years ago...to the guy who said this is a "pro-tooled piece of crap" or whatever, go see them live, then get back to me...i've seen them three times and have the DVD, so i've seen a very mixed setlist and they can play just about every song live...I hate all the nu-emo bullshit, largely because bands like Taking Back Sunday and Thursday are so over-produced that they can't hit any high notes whatsoever, and the live experience is suffocated for that reason...Did someone say to go listen to good hardcore like "Give up the Ghost?" Jesus dont get me started...they were upstaged by blood brothers on the glassjaw tour, it wasn't even funny...this album is a must-have for anyone who has appreciation for talented music

But with the blood brothers this is a very true statement. They are so random and different from anything i have ever heard, you have to listen to them not expecting anything, and always looking for something. There songs perfectly combine technical prowess, humor, storytelling, and creativity in 4 minute long bursts of noise. At least thats what it sounds like at first. What im saying is...please dont judge this after one listen. Give it like 4 spins and then make up your mind. If you still dont like it, then just ignore me, we all have our own tastes. but i just cannot understand why someone would not like a band like this.

I think people are either gonna love this album or hate it. It's really random and crazy, but the production quality is really good. I need to get a lyrics sheet, if their lyrics hold up then this is deifnitely a top release of the year for me. The spazzy vocals are another love 'em or hate 'em thing, they take some getting used to, but once you do they are great. Like I said before, they remind me of the Germs kind of, in the random agrosity. It's not the hardest stuff you'll ever here, but it is extremely creative spazzy hardcore with random elements thrown in. It's the musical equivalent to a nervous breakdown. The high production values don't detract to much, since most of their albums sound similar to this.

They're on a major? What? This could actually get on a major? that's cool. Best Major Label punk release since Amen's 2000 album. Of course this will probably get no attention, most people are just to weak to deal with music this intense.

This album grows on me each time i listen to it. At first listen to this band i was like "What the fuck!?! Whacked out!"...like a moron, but i love their intensity and almost spastic screams. This reminds me of Leftover Crack in it's raw insanity and the Germs in it's explosive spastic intensity.
