Wow, its been a few years since the Souls came to Richmond. Since the glory days of Twisters. Wow. I would have never assumed that after the recent success and popularity they have been experiencing that they would make the trek back to our dirty little city. Sure enough, as I am commonly wrong in life, Richmond was named as one of the few cities on a short East Coast tour. Please login or register to post comments. "the bouncing souls logo is stupid looking" god, i could swear the people who post here must be english majors in college. congrads you, you.... stupid boy. The bouncing souls logo is stupid looking. 50 Cent is shit...but he was shot, so yeah, hes cool to me. And The Casualties make me guilty for living in the state of New Jersey. Im thinkin about pikin up that souls DVD you are all talking about though....sounds like a good time. did mtv tell you that you unoriginal bastard I was at the Ottobar, it was fantastic Great review sickboi, did anyone checkout the show at ottobar? -oldpunker- 50 cent has also been shot a few times. that, and only that, makes him cool in my book. Yeah, saw Roger Miret and the Disasters early March with VGS in Long Island. Awesome, really impressive. That record is dyn-o-mite. Seeing them again tonight with the Souls and Casualties. Can't wait. word on 929 is that last nights show was the last. despite rumors of the city of richmond tkaing over the building (come on now) what the case is is that 929 wasnt making enough money back for the renevations, and wasnt booking as many shows that would draw a crowd and money. they were booking what they liked more than what would make them the money back. so, 929 was getting further and further into debt, and decided it wasnt worth it to stay open. almost all of the shows have been picked up by alley katz or canal club. I hate their music, I don't hate them as people. Wow, I saw this show in buffalo ( Strike Anywhere who fuckin rocked), and it was my first souls show. It has to have been some of the most fun I've had in a long time. sickboi- you're on the money on this review. and if you hate the souls, find the dvd and watch it, you may change your mind when you realize their motivation. A good song doesn't have to be complex. Oh- and The Pete said the new album is going to be released in August! Way too long to wait. The Bouncing Soul's music was never about playing a style of complicating notes. If you watched the DVD, you can clearly see that what they learned in all those years was "Structuring". The key to writing a good song is knowing how to arrange your music in a way that sounds good. There are tons of musicians out there that I know for a fact are more talented than the souls, but in fact they don't know the first step to writing a good song. So what if the music is simple? That dosen't mean that they can't write good songs and it dosen't mean they aren't good musicians outside of the band. If you want to hear good guitar work, listen to The Pets's solo on "No Security". Yes, lets all progress musically as The Bouncing Souls have. If, by progress, you mean after a decade you still have the inability to sing on key, or at all, keep a steady beat on a drumset, or play more then 4 chords in a song. Oh, but yeah, they've really come a long way. Heh if you like the Souls, good, but, I wouldn't take any music lessons from them. Thats what I love to read you captured why I love going to see the Souls. They said it best " The Bouncing Souls is that feeling you get when you leave a show totally inspired" HAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!! Somebody give the guy below me 50 bucks!! Zak, don't forget "Proud to be Punk" and "Street Punk." You gotta give these guys credit for their unsurpassable lyrical talent. If I may quote a passage: 50 cent isn't a wanksta, i know that much. bouncing souls are fuckin tight. some feel good music. "By the way 50 cent is a rich kid from new hampshire who was PROGRAMMED TO BE "GANGSTA"" Hah! Never! The Souls own your being. Give in. Leave it to a Dropkick Murphys fan to not catch a joke..Oh yeah, I hate the Bouncing Souls. Oh yeah, the Casualties are lucky that Shattered Realm, Count the Stars, Total Chaos and Snowdogs are around to narrowly beat them out for the worst bands ever title. ok they 1 guy talkking about 50 cent can suck a dick. Get off the damn punk site! By the way 50 cent is a rich kid from new hampshire who was PROGRAMMED TO BE "GANGSTA" the bouncing souls kick some serious ass ans so does roger miret and the disasters check them both out. The one dud already said it but the casualties have humongus f^cking hair The Souls on the same stage as the Casual-ties? *Rasberry* Fuck y'all bizznitches. 50 cent is where it's at you muthafuckas. ole ole ole. love the souls. I am punker than thou you motherfucker Yeah, whats the scoop on that? The Utters show got moved to Alley Katz... the last time they played in richmond it was the fall of 2000 with mustard plug in twisters. Oh boy, typos galore. how the hell can the casualties tour with bad religion? the casualties have big hair i can name many casualties songs off the top of my head. "punx and skins," "punx for life," "for the punx," "punk rock love." anyone notice a trend? they're playing here at penn state tomorrow with my band for $5. email andrewlikefire@hotmail.com for more info. |
