| Shattered RealmBroken Ties... Spoken Lies2002 Eulogy
Review by: FortyMinutesWest See others by this writer Eulogy (link) Only registered users can post comments Published on April 4th 2003 These guys are tough! They have a skull on their CD, so beware! If that wasn't enough, the press release described vocalist Chris' style as "a fortified growl(whatever the hell that's supposed to mean) and a punishing shout". Yeah, it's punishing alright. Meaning, I feel like I'm being punished by listening to this band. For further proof, look on the back of the booklet to see these guys striking their best "core" poses. Unfortunately, they end up looking like a bunch of wannabe "gangstas" pouting over the fact that they can't afford the new Nelly CD. I wonder if these guys got together and said "Hmm..it would be cool if we ripped off Hatebreed..Wait! How about we rip off Slayer too!". Because it sure sounds like it. I'm not one to bash bands for not being totally original, but I could predict virtually everthing this band threw at me. For those of you who like intellectual lyrics, this is a must buy. Lines like "you two faced half stepping punk" and "you will face the hand of doom" will certainly send droves of intellectuals into a frenzy as they try to compete. The song "You've Been Warned" is aptly titled, because I was warned, but unfortunately I listened to this CD anyway and now I'm paying the price.
If you're in a crew that goes to shows and beats people up with help of your friends, you'll love this. Otherwise, stay away. Now excuse me while I hide under my desk, so this band doesn't "bestow pain, eternal suffering, misery, and hatred everlasting" on me.

This has to be one of my favorite reviews ever. greenvandel who are you? i was the original bassist for rb. and im wondering if you hung out with us, or eric brian and kens strange black metal spinoff. i had quit by then because the original drummer was out and i wasnt feeling were it was goin. email me and let me know. ulu@trust-me.com i didnt mean to give this band 5 stars, they suck the big one, i hope they read this and quit all together. D&D for life m/. Welllll, id love to tell you, but considering my rant against this band I really would prefer not to get my ass kicked if they found out who I was. Lame I know, but im a very large pussy. Hehehe. You probably dont know me anyway, I never really chilled with RS, but I hung with Realitys Brutality alot. New Jersey is a dump...I used to live there so I can fully agree. Richmond is a dump too, but at least we don't have all the stupid tolls. And for that matter, we drive better too. Greenvandel, who are you? I used to be boys with RS For bands from New Jersey, Ensign owns these guys. The New Jersey scene died with Rational Solution. The only decent thing still happening here is The Survivors. This whole fucking state is lame, and full of bands that "bring the mosh" well m sorry, but when i was 15 bringing the mosh might have kept my attention for 15 minutes but I like music that comes from the heart and is written well. And if they are so nice then...read my rant below. Posturing is lame. This state needs to be burnt to shit. Then maybe something good will grow out of what was left. You all are fuckin lame. Just cause these guys are 'tuff' at shows means nothing. Try talking to them, they are real people. Not to mention, they are some of the nicest and funniest people. In NJ, kids love them, as do I. :chug chug *metal riff* chug chug: You can't even bring that up cause bands from Poison the Well to Bulldoze to From Autumn to Ashes do that too. Shattered Realm brings the mosh, and has a good time doing it. I love this band. THE END. Also, NJ has the best scene ANYWHERE The sr show with throwdown was pretty packed. Tough Guy hardcore rules The score is for the review, funny stuff. I'll avoid shattered realms draw in nj is wierd. they played hamilton st to like 50 kids i heard. but on friday they are headlining the big room at krome. last time they played krom it was with throwdown i believe and it was in the lounge so that may be why it sold out. i dont remember it being overly crowded though. either was SR is just straight up tough guy hardcore and i like it. good band and awsome live show. Wow this review has gotten so big, Ive jus been watching it grow up right before my eyes. If a band plays music that is all about beating kids who dont like them down, and chillin with their crew, and demanding respect, then I would imagine the music would reflect there opinions and feelings. Any person that thinks, feels, or acts like what this music says is a pice of shit. And your right, i wouldnt say such harsh words to their face, cuz I would be scared shitless. And admitting that doesnt really prove anything, outside of they must be quite limited minded if i fear for myself around them. And why do they deserve my respect? Respect is something you earn, not just suddenly get because your in a hardcore band. Music about kikin ass and having fun doing it does not strike me as something I should respect. it strikes me as idiots who like to throw around there weight to prove how much better they are then everyone else. fear is not something to respect. it something to hate. But i dont now these guys...so this is assumption. but like i said, if they write songs about it, i would thn they would be that way. And if they arent like this, then there songs are just posturing and thats pretty lame. We "pc punks" arent blind, you are. Fuck this bands music. Fuck tough guy hardcore. Fuck New Jersey. I don't give a fuck how many people this band draws, they suck. Tough guy hardcore blows. A mother joke? Wow, you epitomize clever. heh .. completely different. hardcore bands like this that draw big crowds are obviously legit because the scene embraces them. blink 182 and good charlotte are embraced by people who go from one band to the next more than i change condoms when i'm fucking your mother. I see the point you're trying to make, but your logic is flawed. Based on what you're saying, Blink 182 and Good Charlotte would be considered good bands. its funny how this kid disses this band saying how horrible they are but whenever they play in NJ they otudraw most bands that come to Jersey. Last time they played Krome im pretty sure they sold it out. And these guysarent wanna be tuff guys in the least sense This band spawns more tough guys than DMX. "i guarantee your words wouldn't be so harsh in a face to face meeting with them." sickboi's probably had more sex than a slut-turned-prostitute. Yo, SR is tough. Foreal. The cd is total mosh, and it rules. Im with you, lets go beat up anyone who disagrees!!! I love that xxx shit... Man, I want to start something for those of us who drink, do drugs and fuck a lot. How about ddd....? (Drinkin, Drugs, and Doin' it) Who's with me? "let me get this straight... you can throw all of the bullshit remarks you want out there, but the minute someone calls you on it... that person is out of line? well ain't that some shit. i guess i fucked up. go free mumia or something fucker. I said they looked like they were trying hard to be hardcore in the picture on the back on the booklet, look at it and tell me they aren't. I couldn't give a fuck if these guys are really tough or not, I don't give a fuck if they could beat my ass, that doesn't make them or their lyrics any better. If they're tough, fine, but don't shove it down my throat, the art work, lyrics, and press release make it kind of hard to take these guys seriously. The music is awful as well, especially the vocals. as i said, you're entitled to your opinion and to some your opinions on this disc might be valid... but when it comes to insulting who these guys are [thereby insulting the lives they have lead and how they grew up], you have no idea what/who the fuck you're talking about. though i will be the first to try to pull away from 'beatdown' hardcore... these guys are truthful and they have their place amongst those that feel the same. they're not throwing out these statements to look tough or anything of the sort. they are exactly as they seem. let me get this straight... you can throw all of the bullshit remarks you want out there, but the minute someone calls you on it... that person is out of line? well ain't that some shit. i guess i fucked up. go free mumia or something fucker. I've never heard the band, but I will say that I found this review to be pretty funny. The quote in the last line is just hilarious. Furthermore, I like alot of heavy hardcore, this band just doesn't play the style well. Bitch, bitch, bitch, you can like this if you want, I don't care. But don't throw condescending bullshit like "The stuff you kids listen to" at me, fuck off. i don't know where to begin with this review... as was stated, you are entitled to your own opinion. but when it comes to the 'wannabe gangstas' statement, you should learn a little more about the people you're talking about before you open your mouth. yeah these guys are scary as hell, but they're also some of the nicest guys i've ever met. it's all about respect. you disrespect them, and they'll stand up for themselves and if this is the case, you'll have a real problem on your hands because trust me... these 'wannabe gangstas' have paid their dues and could likely tear apart any 'true thug' you could throw at 'em. Their press release cites Hatebreed as an influence, this CD is terrible. while this isn't the best album .. your 'ripoff' comment about hatebreed wasn't too accurate. shattered realm has essentially been around nearly as long as hatebreed - or at least when hatebreed adopted their more metalesque sound. but anyhow, i can see how you might think they did rip them off, so fine. but anyone who likes straight-up hardcore, listen to this band's ep 'all will suffer.' it's very good. hahahahaha I'd like to bestow eternal diarrhea on bands like this. please keep my name a secret... i live in the same area as this band, they are very scary and although we all want to say what you have said about this band, we can't for fear of our lives and our families' lives. thank you for this review. "If you're in a crew that goes to shows and beats people up with help of your friends, you'll love this. " "The song "You've Been Warned" is aptly titled, because I was warned, but unfortunately I listened to this cd anyway and now I'm paying the price." "Shattered Realm"? You have to be fucking kidding me... |
