Now this is what DIY is all about. Fledgling suburban Chicago label Be Mine Records has released this split CD between two complete unknowns in the Chicago scene [shit, even *I* hadn't ever heard of them, and I pour over Chicago show listings to keep up-to-date]. After taking in the humorous liner notes [each band wrote a story about the other band, with varying success], I get the picture that all eight of these guys must be really good friends. While the two bands don't have a ton in common musically, the bond that unites this split CD is what is so sorely missing in so many of the "big budget" pairings that seem to exist only to sell more records. Friendship is getting scarcer and scarcer in the ever-growing "indie" scene. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
i dunno.. i think lucky boys could kick some ass Listen here first, about the "poor" recording, well what do you honestly expect some amazing recording like that of Blink 182 or some other shitty pop punk waste? First, they're paying for other expenses that cause them not to only put money into their music, they don't have their mommies and daddies doing everything for them and having them take care of all their bills, so you have to expect the fact they're not going to have tons of money to record, yet. And you're called punknews, punk, which before this new phase of pop punk crap came out, meant DIY, if you look at any of the bands first cds or so, none of which the production is really great, AFI (have you heard Mini Trucks Suck), Bad Religion 80-85, NoFX - Liberal Animation, Unseen, Casualties, all of which are crap but over the span of 5 years or so, they got better and made money, they didn't have to worry about college or anything anymore, while AI still has a little while to go, so when they come out with a new cd, watch on the production will change once they have a little extra cash. I just wanted to let you know that there are two different people who sing in BOT. The signer of "Boyscout Dropout" does not sign the rest of the songs. This could be very well why you wouldn't expect the belting screams from the same person signing "Stretched Around A Dream". Considering your reviewing this CD, you should know who is signing what song. The B.O.T. song is actually pretty charming. I guess I have to say I dig it. The correct spelling is 'pore'. 'Pour' implies something different altogether. Is the pgsonline.net address online? I've been having computer difficulties so I cannot be sure if this is just me. havent heard anything yet but bots bio is great, always good to see a band teaching kids geography |
