In the past, hardcore rockers Death By Stereo have been reguarded as more than the typical hardcore band, known for their intense live shows and the sucess of other epitaph releases, they have built up quite a following, and this release "Into the valley of death" will only see it growing more. This is the last album that Jim Miner wrote with the band, and for that....it fucking rules. Listen to the difference in song writing between the first three records and Death for Life. DFL still rules but the J. Miner era was something truly to behold. I like their music, but a don't really care for the vocalist, it kind of annoys me. rude album.. too bad i lost it when i was drunk.. what the fuck was that wanker on when he or she (wel even ladyboy cos u do get them) said that converge were grindcore wow first comment for two years Whoa, hold on there, matey! These guys have some issues. First off, why does this guy have to say anything about Catholic priests when everyone already knows that and feels that way? It is obvious that his hatred comes from a different angle. He is jealous that Catholic priests get to "have all the fun." What a wierd-o! Second thing, this guy really hates the US. Why? Because Fat Mike is pulling the strings. These guys don't even come up with an original idea or angle about it. It's the same-"We hate the country we live in", "We hate the hand that feeds us", "I hate my dad", "Why can't I get 'lucky' like Catholic priests", and "Stop killing people, and Kill Americans!" Did anyone else pick up on the content of the track "I wouldn't piss on your eyelids if your brain was on fire"? Its obviously about all that crap from Warped and the bus last year. Pretty good tune. Yes, I have reconsidered my "classic" statement. There hasn't been and probably won't be another DBS album as good as their first, which was classic. But, that doesn't mean that this album should be tossed aside, as it is still pretty damn good, containing a few "classic" level DBS songs. So, you don't need to bitch just cause a band can't make every album the one that blows your mind if they can keep putting out solid releases on the thunder of something that once blew your mind. That may sound dumb, but DBS doesn't. wyzo get over it. Metallica hasn't put out a good album in almost a decade & a half. wyzo get over it. This is the anathema of there first record, the song titles sound obligatory, the guitars are rehashed, and the songs are just over drawn out midtempo rock songs done with pitch harmonics. I really wish I had some money right now, cause this is at the top of my list. Go listen to it, the whole e-card thing is a great idea, you can figure out if an album is absolutely classic or not. Th casualties kick fuckin ass yay!!!! what's up with Efrem's hair!? It's cool, he kind of reminds me of H.R. (no not henry rollins) in that video. Emo Holocaust, and most of the stuff DBS does is tongue in cheek, so don't take that too seriously. I love these guys, but that new video on the Epitaph site is so bad... These guys totally underwhelmed me at warped tour. They came off as total steak heads. I dont know enough about them to pass judgement, but after that performance im pretty sure they are way overrated. "Emo Homicide" huh? Please. I saw these guys on he Volcom stage at Warped Tour last year, and thier singer was pissed that nobody was moving around, and he kept pointing at people and saying "I'm coming after you" and eventually jumped off stage and started running into people. He then backed up and pulled out his dick and started flopping it around and grabbing while insulting the crowd. I was hooked after that. These guys are pissed. Some of the dudes from The Casualties who were in the crowd were kinda stunned too. Some punkers they are. dbs does it again. get this album. this album rocks.. best dbs album.. That video for "Wasted Words" is really fucking creepy. AFI and A3 should take note, thats some scary shit. amazing record This band should grasp the attention of all those nu-metal fans! -insincere dave- Raised Fist blasts every other band out of the water. I'm digging this album. Efrem's screams/growls are really awesome. Whoa this CD is really good. This is the the third actual really good CD that has came out this year. There probly wont be any more really good CDs untill alkaline tri,LTJ, and rancid release there new CDs. operaman on SNL was kind of cool Opera, and yes he is. On this album he just went nuts with the vocals. Efrem is the punkrock opraman.(sp?) i thought the singer from suicide file was the old singer from no reply...... DBS' first drummer has played for far too many bands, but currently fronts the very rocking Suicide File. As far as lyrics go, I think "Shhhh, It'll be our little secret" is by far their best these guys rocked my ass at warped tour. great fucking band. go listen to this album right now. its streaming over at epitaph.com Well, it's no Rancid... Sickboi played this shit in my car and I liked what I heard. I'll be picking it up. the first non epitaph album was good, then the guys voice got less hardcore more whiny, and they got more metal. They went from DLR to Sammy hagar. bad move fellas. i know i'll be picking this one up but i bet no song on that album can compare to "no cuts, no butts, no coconuts," "lookin at for no.1," "sticks and bones".......well the whole looks could kill album. By God, buy this CD if you have any blood pumping in your pathetic little body....if you're wearing shoes, better take them off or your socks are gonna get blown right through them! DBS' first drummer filled in with Hope Conspiracy for a while. I'd have to disagree with you on this one, DBS has actually immatured over their releases, sure they've gone more metal, but their music is definitely less technical than on their first release? Do you remember their first drummer? HOLY SHIT, I want to know what he's doing. Yes, they've gone downhill since If Looks Could Kill, like many bands do, but DBS is still one of the most engrossing harcore acts around today, and I'll still buy this album because it just fucking rocks. This album is amazing. I still can't get enough of Wasted Words which is one of the best songs I've heard in a while. |
