For me, early 80's hardcore punk is an aquiered taste. The Circle Jerks are no exeption. As I listen to this record more and more, it grows on me.

Enough about me, on to the album. This record, as the title suggests is a compilation of the albums Group Sex, and Wild in the Streets. Unfortunately, since I bought it, I have not been able to find this album online. However, the two albums it contains are widely available individually. The 29 tracks contained do not dissapoint, if you're a fan of early 80's hardcore punk. To compare this to other bands in their scence, this is: early Bad Religion, with better production. Dead Kennedys, with a little less musical diversity, as there are no surf elements to be found. Minor Threat, with a more hedonistic approach to life. A little more coherent than Angry Samoans.

If you're a fan of the bands I listed above, you need this record. It might be just what you're looking for.

If your exposure to punk rock is limited to Green Day and Sum41, this album will probably come as quite a shock.

    My Score:

Ok, Wild In The Streets is kinda mediocre. I'm just gonna review Group Sex.

Group Sex is pure stupid genius. 14 songs in 16 minutes, all of them catchy and aggressive. The lyrics tackle a variety of topics, ranging from drinking to politics to hysterectomies.

Contrary to the above review, this is a fairly accessible album. Most hardcore albums aren't half as melodic or catchy as this one. Even if you're a punk newbie, you might like this. It's a hell of a lot more approachable than Minor Threat (whom the Jerks sound virtually nothing like).

review wasn't great, however Group Sex is reason enough to buy this album. Shockingly fast songs, which are suprisingly catchy

I kinda like short reviews. I don't think he really needed to say anything more than what he said. Come on, some people write 3000 word reviews and you don't have a fucking clue what it sounds like. At least he makes his point. All you english majors that want a fucking essay are extremely boring to everyone but yourselves.

thank you for keeping this review short instead of the punknews two page spread reviews that have become the norm.
