What is it about soccer? It seems like every other street punk band is singing about it, ok that’s a pretty big exaggeration, but still. I’m sure most of you have already heard of The Business. This British oi/street punk acting has been kicking around (horrible pun intended) for quite some time now.

This album is typical of their style, sing along choruses, lyrics about soccer, drinking, drinking, and sometimes soccer, you get the idea. It’s just a fun album to listen to. It’s the most challenging album, it doesn’t have the deepest lyrics ever, it’s not a concept album, but who cares? This CD is just a solid punk album, done the way it should be done. I haven’t been very familiar with the band’s back catalog, so I won’t make comparisons to past albums, but I can say that this one is well done. Track 5, “Viva Bobby Moore”, would have to be my personal favorite, with its catchy repeating chorus of what else but “Viva Bobby Moore!”

This won’t be a good accompaniment to your new Noam Chomsky book, but don’t like that bother you. This album is still good, even if the lyrics aren’t anything special. This is just music to listen to when you’re in a good mood. Even if you’re in a bad mood, you can pop this is your CD player, get yourself a beer, and use whatever was in there before as a nice, shiny coaster. Actually, that coaster thing is probably a bad idea, but the rest seems good in theory.

If you’re in the market for a good, fun punk rock album, then this won’t disappoint in the least. I don’t think there’s much more to say without sounding redundant.

Shame the reviewer isn't familiar with the back catalog, because this is the best thing they've done in years! Makes me want to shave my head and watch soccer... almost!

"I like Chomsky and I fucking like the Business. Stop your prejudice right now
    "

Easy, I didn't mean it like that. I simply meant that there isn't in depth political commentary here, but it's still fun to listen to.

Hardcore Hooligan shows the band in their finest form in years. Highly recommended.

I like Chomsky and I fucking like the Business. Stop your prejudice right now

Premiership is about the only thing I get to watch, as it's just about all they show on Fox Sports World. I don't have direct TV or satellite or anything, so, I get to enjoy what I have.

dude, premiership... boo... england is not cool no more. for europe, italia is easily the most fun.

Hey morons!!! punk music website!!!! helloooooo! business rulz. Soccer/futbol doesn't. Nuf said. Be loud, proud and punk for a day, you'll feel a lot better.

    Poisonthesink (August 28, 2003)

If your lucky enough to have direct tv(i don't, but friend told me about...) you can watch the premier league, even though no beckham, it's still better than Minor League Soccer.

    "Lyrics about soccer?"

This is an English Oi band, what the fuck do you think they sing about? It's not really soccer so much at it's football hooliganism...

And the Real McKenzies? Come off it.

also, the real mckenzies (a band i prefer to the business) have a couple songs about soccer, you should see them live, paul goes nuts kicking invisible balls and what not.

my opinion soccer dominates everything, hockey is the only other sport worth watching. the only way to watch in the states is on univision, sundays at around 10. you have to wake up early, but you either get a liga mexicana game or a top-notch european league game. i prefer mexican league myself, but, good soccer is good soccer.

cruz azul will eat your children and then beat them at soccer

Lyrics about soccer? Ok......lyrics about any sport wouldn't excite me....but to each his own i guess.

    Edgie (August 27, 2003)

At least you have a fucking team! They pulled the Mutiny before I got into soccer.

"Cursive is great. Sorry if they arent punk enough for you. This is awesome too! Gotta love the Business."

They aren't punk enough for me. they suck.

to the fist peron that posted: MLS does indeed blow. and NY/NJ metrostars are a joke.

    hungryjoe (August 27, 2003)

If they're British, shouldn't it be football?

    GreenVandal (August 27, 2003)

Cursive is great. Sorry if they arent punk enough for you. This is awesome too! Gotta love the Business.

SUBURBAN REBELS!!! enough said. one of the best songs ever.

    Anonymous (August 26, 2003)

Tim Kasher? cursive? good music? good one

    Anonymous (August 26, 2003)

It's Kasher, Tim Kasher. If you're gonna insult good music, don't do it poorly.

    Edgie (August 26, 2003)

    (Am the original poster, heh)

I know what you mean.. I'm way too out of shape to play in any sort of local league, and it's hard to find enough friends who'd be interested in playing even a half-assed game on a field.

    Anonymous (August 26, 2003)

    "Soccer fucking rules, man."

It's fun to play, I can't watch it though.

    Anonymous (August 26, 2003)

I love this CD for the simple fact that it has nothing to do with Cursive or Tim Krashner or any of those other fucks... In a time when artists have to CHALLENGE an unchangable status quo in rock, these guys are kicking it like its 1982. Their first, though, was their best.

Soccer fucking rules, man. I wish we had a halfway decent league state-side instead of the shit league they call the MLS.

    Major league my left nut.
