I feel the need to review old albums so heres Ignition by The Offspring. Though this wasn't the huge CD Smash was, it certaintly should've been. Maybe it just came out a year too early, or wasn't appealing enough, but I'll go on a limb and say this is The Offspring at their best. This set down things to come for The Offspring and contains some of their best songs. "Session" one of the few songs Offspring still play live sounds fresh even after 8 years. "LAPD" mocks the police force of LA and thrashs from begining to end. "Hypodermic" showing off the slower, darker Offspring sound & lyrics. This album mixes serious topics with some middle eastern riffs and punk flare and is the combo that worked best for Offspring. Every song is a winner on this disc, no fillers, deep and dark messages in a lot of the songs. If you like The Offspring or any of the punk bands that hit it big in the mid 90's punk explosion, you'll love this album. Please login or register to post comments. Too bad they don't sound like this anymore Agreed. This is also my favorite Offspring album, though I'm probably too young to say that. Kick Him When He's Down is my fvorite song on the album. That one and Dirty Magic are super fun to play on guitar! Quite possibly my favorite punk album of all time. This album is amazingly melodic punk and brilliant. This is my favorite Offspring album.. Score is for Dirty Magic. Such a cool band!!!! Greta music!!! Conspiracy of one was a lot better than americana, although neither was really any good. Splinter is a slight improvement, aside from a few horrible songs thrown in. I agree, Offspring could have been up there with social d and tsol but wrecked it with conspiracy of one, as well as the shit songs on americana and ixnay In my opinion. this is awesome record and they kept it going on with smash. after smash, it was kinda downhill in terms of old school offspring. americana came out, u all wut happen one of the greatest punk records of all time - no shitty pop-punk, no singles, no filler, just what we want the offspring be but they are not...sometimes i feel like the offspring's Ignition is too great to be true... ARGHHHHH!! This album is so amazing!!! the chorus of L.A.P.D just makes you want to stand and shout it out! Every single song on this album makes you feel different, yet all of them are so amazing its hard to feel anything other than utter bliss! If you say that your into punk rock and you don't like this album..... you really need to take out the cotten wool and start listening instead of hearing!!!- django Offspring could have been right up there with Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys, Social Distortion, Minor Thraet, Black Flag , and the Adolescents as one of the greatest punk bands of all time. When I heard the first time Ignition, I thought "Good cd but Smash is better". i think this album kicks one fucking ass and i think my great uncle in law is great for getting me this cd It's not Offsping's best work, but it kicks some major ass. Buy it, you bastards. S'okay. I was still in kindergarden when this came out, for crying out loud. It's like some people hate younger punk fans because their parents didn't fuck early enough for them to be into punk when it was growing in status. it's cool sr.poperi. sorry for all the shit i gave you .really.- fathead I've only posted on two so far out five. I'm not a DIEHARD Offspring fan, and I've thrown out their two newest CD's which were the first ones I got because I was not even listening to music when their first four came out. you know, it's funny how senor poperi claims to be a hardcore offspring fan(if that isn't funny enough) but this is the only album he hasn't posted on?????kinda makes you wonder just how cool he is dont it- fathead Back before a punk band ever went platinum. This CD is everything you could want out of the Offspring. Back when they were serious, and when being serious meant something. The Offspring's cd Ignition is their best, bar none. Every song is great. This cd is so much better than the rest it is ridiculous. The other cd's is great, but Ignition is amazing. What makes the cd so good is that the songs have different styles and the lyrics are nto about the same thing, they do good mixing. Unlike most punk bands that always stay the same, Offspring change styles and still put out great music. They still do, it may not be as "punk" as before, but goddamnit it is good. Though both Smash and Self Titled are both good albums...(Heck even Ixnay is bearable at times.) Ignition really shows their true talent at full swing. Certainly agree with The Offspring at its best, although it's not as raw, aggressive and therefore fun to listen as their first album (titles like 'beheaded' or 'kill the president' are quite funny if you look at the band nowadays). Surely pure quality, and 'forever and a day' is one of my favourite songs by The Offspring. is take it like a man on 'ignition'? it's been so long since i've heard it, i cant remember. oh well, what i remember of it was really good.- fathead | Features
