Reviews

This one’s from a skater band in Georgia that, according to their one-sheet, grew up in “a simple way”, and got into punk rock...la-la-la-la-la. They eventually, by magic, drifted onto just the right combination of instruments to despoil a genre of music with an ease that comes from listening to what’s already been ripped off and then ripping that off. Yes, you lads kept the Pieces all right. And now Sum 41 want them all back.

There really isn’t much you can say about an album this devoid of originality or merit. Even the artwork in the CD looks like it’s probably someone else’s, and it’s pretty sad what record labels waste money on in hopes of reaching into the wallets of kids trying to embrace some new music. Why, this is such an utter Piece of shit, that I’m not even gonna try it on the dumpster down the alley from my house for fear it might explode. If you see this album in stores calmly walk away and ask an employee to phone Hazmat.

To the reviewer : U obviously know nothing about this band. First of all, they wrote their own damn songs, so it makes no sense that they are copying someone else. 2nd The art on the front of the cd, is a drawing of the ppl in the band u dumbass! Most of all no one cares what u think! this band is kickass and furthermore mark is awesome!! hes a great person and has a great family!!! Considering his lil bro is my best friend coming from TOWNS COUNTY!!!! so once again ur a dumbass!!! yeah they came from ga, the only to be comin from is the south!!! u sound like a yankee so take ur opinion and stick it farther up ur ass! Thanks, GITTER DUN!

    My Score:

fuck that shit assed thornberry. i think all the "pro-reviewer" comments were posted by the same shit head who reviewed the cd. i saw them live recently and it was incredible. there were 50 people at their show while the incredibly inferior "S.O.T.Y." had A couple thousand. if you miss this band on warped tour you are missing one of the best shows i have seen, and this is one of the best albums i have heard since the smashing pumpkins broke up. i have to say though, the cover art is pretty shitty. check out their web site. Mark Walker, the singer is sexy as hell, and the Bassist, John Addington is one of the coolest people i have ever been lucky enough to meet. and i must repeat the show kicked ass.

to the toolbags who cried on their mommy's shoulder when they read this, IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE REVIEW OR THE REVIEWER, DON'T COME BACK!! its that simple chump. i come to this site because i know what the reviewers like and like their reviewing style.

meanwhile, a small victory is still sucking cock in hell, and no, they don't "kick ass".

glad i listened to the cd BEFORE reading your shitty-ass review, ya fuckin bitchtard. like some kid said before, even if you don't like the cd, your "review" could've said something about the actual music... but i guess that would've been the right way to do it. that's cool if you don't like the music, but you don't gotta be such a bitter-ass about it. i happen to like it and have seen the band live multiple times- they fucking rock. if your goal was to piss people off, congratu-fucking-lations because i'm pissed. but whatev... when they make it big you'll feel like a real dipshit.

what the crap? did you even listen to the fucking cd? where thehell did you pull Sum 41 from? Seriously, just because your head is firmly planted in your ass doesn't mean the you can pull reveiws from there too. You are suriously one of the stupidest reviewers I've ever seen. And even if you didn't like it, you did an especially shitty job of explaining it. You see, in a MUSIC review, one must actually talk about the MUSIC dipshit. Just stop reviewing, you suck and are by far one of the most incompetent reviewers/writers ever. Just do everyone a favor, and go get hit by a bus or something.

who the fuck is this guy? its sad to see that they are just letting any douche with no music experience write reviews...if you want anyone to take your reviews seriously you should think about coming up with something better than "this is such an utter Piece of shit" or "Yes, you lads kept the Pieces all right. And now Sum 41 want them all back" ...real clever.

    My Score:

I just wanted to say that you are a complete jackass. This band kicks ass and obviously you have no taste in music or listen to much of it. I go to many shows and A Small Victory is very original in their style of music and put on a hell of a show. So I suggest that you take your head and stick it up your ass cause all your reviews suck. You sound like all the other kids trying to fit in a by cool by saying negative things so people will read your shit. Well you have a good day you fucking dick head.

I actually gave this band a shot, but i'm sorely dissapointed.

How the fuck are people passing this shit off as music now?

Posted by Anonymous on Friday, January 23, 2004 at 1:46 AM (EST)
    My Score:

This band isn't nearly as bad as you make out. Any dickhead can write a review that is overly critical of the scene and perhaps even a certain band's place in that scene. A real writer would make more of an effort in explaining, in a musical sense, why this release is so poor.

you must be a pretty douche. the few songs i have heard off of this cd sound great. some of the lyrics are a bit cheesy, though. i know that you are doing your best to reject anything new or whatever, but youre not very convincing and throwing out a few curse words isnt convincing me NOT to buy it. i should be the damn reviewer.

ok, you don't like the band, that is great, but they sound nothing like sum 41. did you even listen to this album or are you just trying to impress people by trashing a band you know others don't like?

This guy definitely is an asshat, but this band, or this CD at least, isn't very good either. I generally like bands of similar styles, and even some who have no originality (SOTY, Spitalfield), but this stuff is just too bland. Lobster can do and has done much better.

Posted by Haggard on 2004-01-20 16:36:27

Since this asshat's reviews usually are terrible and off-base, I'll assume this band is amazing.

In order to review a CD you have to give it a chance. I despise the emo fake hardcore genre and this CD is really one of the better ones of last year.

To bad he is right completely.

This band is the worst thing I've ever heard.

Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at 10:35 AM (EST)
    My Score:

Strongly reserved vocals carry nary a trace of nasal induction nor whiny tones. The layered, varied riffs between the two guitarists keep it fun and interesting, and are fairly air guitar-worthy; no half-assed palm mutes here, people. The subtle tempo and mood changes throughout the tunes sneak up on you seemingly out of nowhere. The band, carefully, even carries the occasional inclining hint at the college emo rock explosion of the 1990s. All these functions portrayed within a solid six-pack of songs.

THIS IS HOW YOU REVIEW TALK ABOUT THE MUSIC!
