Explosions in the Sky have created a beautiful piece of art. The music is sweeping and monumental. 5 songs span 43 minutes, and when it ends you'll be wishing for more. Passion and melodies pour from the speakers whether the songs are a bare whisper or a loud roar. And every song contains equal parts whisper and roar. Every song rises and falls from one end of the spectrum to the other; hushed and soothing one minute and loud and rushing the next. The build ups and let downs of the music are incredible, and the entire album flows oh so smoothly. Each song bleeds into the other, but in a good way. Everything doesn't blend together to sound like one giant song. This album says so much more without lyrics than most bands say in their lifetimes. Every minute of this album is glorious, I found myslef closing my eyes and just drifting away numerous times. But you won't drift to far because there will always be a wall of guitars and drums to keep you from going to far. Whether you enjoy instrumental music or not, give this a try, you may be surprised.

i forgot to give my score....great band. fuckin killer band. not one bad comment. everyone should buy this cd. for sure. This album is pretty fucking rad. And I never, ever, ever use the word rad. I'm sry I can't really give this band a rating cuz I never heard of them. I would have to say I had fun readin all of your reviews though. I guess I've never been into hard rock, but maybe I'll have to check them out sometime. I give you guys props though for making songs and stuff. Keep following your dreams, k. If u want 2 comment back just do it and maybe I'll run into this site again alright, bye! Keep making music! :) this band did the sound track for the friday night lights movie. download it, buy it, steal it, go see them live... some way, put your ear to this sound. awesome, awesome album. Rarely does an album move me like this one did. Everyone should listen to this release. hahahaha...oh man that's great. anytime pitchfork fucks up i'm happy. damn pedantic bastards. "there is no song called "this plane will crash tomorrow". That phrase is printed inside on the cd jacket" This score is for this album, which is now being pirated in Russia, thanks to me. not to be a picky asshole, but there is no song called "this plane will crash tomorrow". That phrase is printed inside on the cd jacket. on the same page is a plane flying over a blood red sky with soldiers below holding rifles. i think they had that phrase printed on stickers too, which they had placed all over their equipment making their trip back home from europe (where they were when september 11th occured) all the more diffilcult. probably didn't help that one of the band member's name is Munaf Rayani either. in case you can't tell i have an unhealthy obsession with this band ;-) Hahahahahaha Everyone loves my hip hop CD collection of raw azz niggaz "Yeah, Forty, I haven't written here recently cuz I got a full-time gig at Delusions of Adequacy. "Plane"* This band creeps me the FUCK out all because of the coincedence surrounding the fact that a band called Explosions in the Sky released their debut album on September 10th, 2001, and with a song called "This Place Will Crash Tomorrow." This is a very sexy band and a very sexual album "Relay, I was expecting to see your name at the bottom of this review, you're slacking." I'm confused why this is here, but that doesn't stop me from saying this album slays. i know everyone hates the name, but I would set myself on fire for you have some songs that are very godspeed-esque. i know atleast one of them is up on hxcmp3.com. it's called "the first word that comes to mind". i think theres a couple more too. this album fucking owns. "first breath after come" is so intense.i Relay, I was expecting to see your name at the bottom of this review, you're slacking. yes, maserati is great. their split with the mercury program released last year is fantastic. Just got this album... It's reaaaaaally good. If you aren't into the whole post-rock Godspeed You! Black Emperor thing, give these guys a try. They're a lot easier to handle. I've got their other album. Veeeerrrry nice. Anybody heard Maserati? Hot damn, I didn't expect this to be reviewed here. This album kicks ass. this album fucking owns. "first breath after come" is so intense. I can't listen to this band all the time, but if I'm in the right mood I dig it. The reviewer's name is still hilarious. explosions in the sky are amazing. truely amazing. they deserve to have that word describe them and their beautiful music. i love this. I'm going to pick this up in a couple minutes. Peace. wasn't this reviewer voted off the site or something? Truly a great cd and a great band. The BEST live act i've ever seen. this album, does, in fact, rule. |
