Undoubtedly one of my favorite cd's so far this year is "This Time Next Year" by The Movielife. Though it was technically released late last year, it will surely make my list of this years best albums. Perhaps you haven't heard of this band...neither had I until a few months ago, when I saw the bands name dropped in a Dashboard Confessional interview. From there I checked out some mp3's, and I liked them, so I ordered this hard to find cd from my local (capitalist pigs) HMV store. To me that is one of the great things about to underground punk scene, discovering new bands. One can feel a certain sense of ownership when discovering a new underground punk band, when you discover a new top 40 band, it's not just you discovering them but thousands of others too. Just thought I'd share that tidbit...anyhow back to my review, a clever infusion of pop-punk and hardcore, The Movielife hails from Long Island, New York; home of long island iced tea, and east coast hardcore. Their sound can best be described as a unique infusion of pop punk (or emo-core) and hardcore. The vocals are in the vein of other punk bands but they add hardcore elements in the instrumentation, timing, and at times, the vocals.

You're wrong i have to say prolly the worst cd from movielife tho i loved the song another friend mmm...feces. movielife blow my bunghole...at least, in my dreams they do...mmmm. alas, why can't i come to terms with my sexuality? im oh so sexually frustrated. -fathead yeah and then i heard their cd. shitty generic pop-punk. bleh. still, check them out live. they play like a hardcore band. i can't really comment on the cd as i havent even heard it yet, but i saw these guys open for h2o a few days ago... and they were fucking incredible. these guys just tore up the stage, so much energy and passion, they never slowed down. the whole place was practically rioting, everyone was into it. watch out for these guys, they're gonne be big. and if you ever get a chance to see them live, do it. you WONT be disappointed. that was almost english.nice try. almost funny too. please if your gonna talk shit and crack jokes about me, make it readable. I love fucking with people as much as the next guy, but your comments are stupid. please try again.- the real fathead Man what would rule is if the siner from the MovieLife would shit on my fae - FatHead to whoever signed my name to the comment below, I will hunt you down and gruesomely slaughter you in front of all your family. what the real fathead has heard of the movielife is pretty fucking good. be ready to die- fathead doesnt sound like a girl on the new disc. this band is gonna be big...i hope they keep their edge. Ok i havent heard "this time next year" yet, But i did pick up "its go time" the other day. Ok do they have a guy or a girl singer..i cant tell....the CD was good...but i think the singer needs to hurry up and hit puberty. fathead needs to take a laxative cuz he's full of shit. i think they are so unique in sound, and thats why i love it. theyre not another pennywise (like the deviates) thats the beauty of it, that they dont stick to a style.....you guys are assholes that just want every band to be another rancid or something. These guys are confused, they want to have emo vocals and rippin' guitars. Its not emo-core because the music is too loud. Make up your friggin' mind... I'm backing Fathead hard on this one..this band is the most embarassing thing I've heard, not named Pennywise that is, thy need to consider suicide - not record more records. I would of given this crap a zero but I can't, all I can say is BUTT SHIT, I hate all that poppy crap!-Fathead long island iced tea rules, and so does this band! yes! great cd....looking forward to their new album next spring! |
