The ‘Your Silence = Your Death’ tour rolled into Chicago on April 22, 2004. Arriving early, I was expecting the Code to come on first. Unbeknownst to me, Much The Same had been added to the bill at the last minute. I’m sure they’re all very nice people, but their brand of pop-punk isn’t my favorite thing in the world. Most of the songs hit the dreaded and boring three-minute mark. An interesting thing did happen during their set though. They announced that for $10 you could get a recording of any band’s set from the night. Cool! Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
I think they play so much off of D by D because that's the only record that a lot of people talk about. I personally like the other records a lot and wish they would play more off of the them, but I know kids would bitch if they did. I thought they were even better on this tour than at Warped which was badass. suicide machines rule. past the fact that their albums rule and their live shows are almost second to none these days and always have been(third time i saw em was with the descendents in '96..haha fuckers) these guys are some of the coolest, most down to earth people you could meet (who else jumps down from the stage to throw mics in people's faces on just about every song during a warped tour set?)probably only second to hot water music or the bouncing souls. awesome music, incredible shows, genuine people...what more could you ask for? nothin. tsm are proof real punk music is still out there. "oh and 'i hate everything' is a lame song, it just sounds like a joke rap metal song." To whoever said that Derek was responsible for DBD being great: Can't wait to see this show next friday. s/t is an ok record now, in hindsight, but when that came out...my god i hated it. 2 awesome ska/punk albums and then a pop album w/ no ska. it was a bit much to swallow at the time. now i can get into about half the songs on it. DBD and Battle Hymns are both sick , and yea, their old drummer and bassist were the shit, but their new bassist is no joke either. negate part of that last comment, i forgot derek played on battle hymns, but "i hate everything" still owns if derek grant had so much to do with writing on destruction by definition, how come the new alkaline trio record could suck the chrome off a black mans rims. the use of the words "tits" and "cooter" makes me wonder if that post was by a kid that goes by the name Smutty. Just wondering. The Suicide Machines are fuckin tits. All of Destruction by Definition is tigher than a goddamn 12 year olds cooter. "Does anyone else think that the suicide machines sound kind of like a cross between a simple plan and hepcat?" I'd honestly go and say that "Steal This Record" is my all-time 2nd favorite album. It just rocks so fucking much. The only Suicide Machines cd I don't have is "Steal this Record" but I have the "Least Worst" cd that has songs from it and I think the songs are awesome. Especially the song "Scars". I don't see why so many people don't like that cd.........is it because they got rid of the ska?? And I actually think their ska songs on the new cd are better than the ones on DBD. 100% wrong description. Does anyone else think that the suicide machines sound kind of like a cross between a simple plan and hepcat? Man I do. Pretty good stuff though. I don't think the code suck at all maybe much the same and definately the Vacancy, but not the code. "Bands like the Suicide Machines deserve much more recognition than many of the bands who are unfortunately in the limelight presently." AF records does suck pretty hard. the code are shitty, same with much the same. but that other guy was right. NMDS rule hard. I went to this show in LA and it was incredible. Fairly good turnout too, which was good to see. Bands like the Suicide Machines deserve much more recognition than many of the bands who are unfortunately in the limelight presently. I've never been disappointed in their live show. Someone PLEASE tell me AAA is playing "Nothing to Lose" at some of the dates... yeah the aaa toronto show was pretty much the same. with the two songs left out as well, i suppose. i actually snagged one of AAA's setlists from the des moines show: Sounds like the exact same show happened in Cleveland, except we didn't get Much the Same :( GOd damn, sounds great, wish this tour had come to Central Florida! Oh yeah, "They played "Hey" at the 2003 X-mas show, the first tiume they ever did it without horns. It kicked ass, and I skanked my ass off" Bill- They played "Hey" at the 2003 X-mas show, the first tiume they ever did it without horns. It kicked ass, and I skanked my ass off Hey Scott, Adam, or Aubin, can you add "So Long" to the Suicide Machines set list? I realized I forgot it after I submitted it. yeah, AAA played hard as fuck in des moines too, thats weird that they didnt play it there i think aaa should play when it comes down to you and sacaob and vanzetti or whatever that song is called. side one dummy has linked up the review. whattttttt HA! I am seeing them Sunday with the Ska is Dead tour. I hope they play Hey. i think the new suicide machines is pretty good. Good show. AAA played hard as fuck at the slc show i thought i was going to be able to go to this show in la, but the dates punknews posted weren't the same as what was actually happening, so i couldn't make it. i've lost count of how many times i've missed the suicide machines. This show hits baltimore next week, see you there!!!-oldpunker- Despite Anti-Flag sucking hard, AF Records has very good bands on its roster. NMDS are fucking great. "Is it just me, or does it seem sad that the album most represented in the Suicide Machines set list is what, almost 10 years old now?" I agree they should play Kaliedoscope, thats my fav song on the new cd. i'm going tomorrow and will return with the setlist. or whatever is etched into my memory. You're welcome! i would have liked to see kaliedoscope, damn that song is good, and the aaa setlist wouldve been rad to see damn. suicide /AAA and over it/a wilhelm scream playing at the same date in NY. i'm gonna be a busy person that day. living in des moines, naturally i was at the stop here. it was INSANE! AAA did the Holiday In Cambodia cover, plus an encore cover of Walking Revolution. The Code played their Op. Ivy "Unity" cover here too, that's pretty much when everybody decided that they were alright. The Suicide Machines were crazy awesome as always. The only problem was that they did the TV PSA intro thing with the THX sound test and tornado siren...and it was CRANKED and my ears are still ringing... the awesome thing about TSM is that Jason remembers all sorts of crap from the couple of times they'd played in des moines in the past. Wrapping things up, this show kicked mammoth arse! Is it just me, or does it seem sad that the album most represented in the Suicide Machines set list is what, almost 10 years old now? Goddammit, now I'm even more pissed that I couldn't go this or the Des Moines stop of this tour. |
