| TraitorsBring Me The Head Of Matt Skiba2004 Johann's Face
Review by: Scott See others by this writer Johann's Face Records (link) Only registered users can post comments Published on June 11th 2004 First off - Matt Skiba used to play drums for the Traitors, way back when. This 7" is tongue-firmly-in-cheek. That being said, it's terrible. But I think the Traitors would get mad if you actually liked their band. Their sound is that of really bad, really "generic"-sounding punk rock. It's sloppy, it's alcohol-induced, it's the type of band that you only watch if your friend's in the group [and even then it's a stretch]. The three songs on here all contain some of the most laughably bad lyrics ever. A sample from the title track: "Bring me the head of Matt SkibaShakespeare it ain't. The drunkenness continues onto side B, with the pairing of "Too Live To Die" and "I Can See Your Dirty Pillows." These gems include lines such as "I am just a fucking pussy" and "Dirty fuckin' whore - yeah!". This is the kind of band that you purposely like in your early teenage years just to get your parents mad. There's not much substance here beyond that. I can't recommend this record for much more than it's novelty value. The title track's good for a laugh once or twice, but I don't see myself ever putting this back on my turntable for the expressed purpose of enjoying it by myself. the Traitors are as funny as gumby ha ha ha...that's fucking funny...."white nigger" i'm just hoping that bought the record. "if those are the shows scott went to see at the fireside, then it looks like someone else should've reviewed this record. it's like asking punk planet to review the new Velvet Revolver. i think they have reviewer spots open for scott at punk planet...." if those are the shows scott went to see at the fireside, then it looks like someone else should've reviewed this record. it's like asking punk planet to review the new Velvet Revolver. i think they have reviewer spots open for scott at punk planet.... " work at the shithole fireside. I've never seen this loser reviewer there." great band, great title, shitty cover, shitty record. they should have gotten Hammer to do spoken word on the b-side. Alcohol-induced lyrics? That is way too lenient! The Traitors are in fact traitors to the very essence of what humans call music. Listening to some half-garbled nonsense for the duration of Traitors' set was just about as bearable as listening to kids on certain websites babbling about how punk they are with their new T-shirts manufactured in sweat-shops and then bought over the internet using a Visa Credit Card. That or being forced to crawl into the hind-quarters of an ornery hippopotamus in a vat of boiling Tang. It's funny how pissed people get when they read a bad review about a band they like. They feel obligated to say how terribly wrong the reviewer is. Who gives a fuck whether or not the reviewer liked it, it's just one person's opinion. Oh yes, listen to the Thermals I work at the shithole fireside. I've never seen this loser reviewer there. Does he know that the bass player for the Traitors works there as well. I'd like to see Scott say shit about the Traitors to him. Traitors are great, the reviewer is a generic, alcohol indulged asshole What a gimmick. Lets make a rule that Scott shouldn’t review Chicago bands he has hardly experienced for one show only. These guys were the fucking classic punk band, pissing everyone off and they wrote great tunes like “Am I Pretty Yet?”. Their lineup with Skiba had Todd From Apocalypse Hoboken in it as well. They had some great songs and finally released them a few years ago. I heard they had Swastikas on stage when they played the benefit show in Chicago. Have none of you new punks ever heard "bring me the head of Jon Spencer" by Jack-o-Fire. "they they suck" =/= "that they suck" "they they suck" = "that they suck" All other arguments about they they suck aside, the title is a pretty pathetic attempt at exposure by name-dropping. Plus, they suck. traitors rule, their final full length was awesome. i just got shitty on Old Style last night someone has to pull the rapestick on these queers. Does anyone else wish Scott would just shut up? and quit signing his own posts. This band got together, pissed a bunch of people off, got kicked out of many venues, and then went their seperate ways. They were a great live act, if you were able to see catch it while it lasted. Maybe they dont want to be so fucking serious!! who wants that all the time?? he fingered his own ass?!! classic. that's motherfuckin funny as all hell. you know what makes stupid shit like that even funnier? when someone gets pissed. i gotta see these bad boys. I bought this 7'' just to have it because its called, "bring me the head of matt skiba." good ol' homocore... i saw these guys open for strung out in 1997 or something and the lead singer just screamed and fell on the floor and continually fingered his asshole... The title of the record is pure comedic gold. If it would encourage hordes of youth to decapitate the Matt Skiba's of the world...if only. "the TRAITORS are old skool Chicago." "The Traitors have put out a lot of good tunes over the years. I can guarantee 100% this is the first time Scott has listened to them at all even though they have been around for a decade." It should go: the TRAITORS are old skool Chicago. you kind of had to be there to get it. Scott - you missed the boat on this one. The Traitors have put out a lot of good tunes over the years. I can guarantee 100% this is the first time Scott has listened to them at all even though they have been around for a decade. This is such a piss poor review What Jesse said. I hate Matt Skiba. I wish this weren't tongue in cheek. This is the stupidest thing that i have ever seen. wow scott, you have some time on your hands to listen to this garbagio and review it too Well that's cute. |
