The first thing I thought when I heard this was "Shit, this sounds like label-mates Black Cross." Now that I'm listening to it again, boy how wrong I am. To adequately describe them, I'd say it's more like early metal (Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden) mixed with punk and hardcore in the style of "The Shape of Punk to Come." And goddamn does it rock. LORDS ep is actually 7 songs in just over 10 minutes......the last track is the entire cd played backwards in mono. Some of the shit between songs are seperate tracks....so it shows up 10 songs......enjoy. I picked this up for $8 at the Lords/Black Cross show. I was kind of pissed when I put it in my CD player and it told me I had purchased 30 minutes of music when in fact it was only 10, but 10 minutes of dead air and 10 minutes of them being ever so clever. Still, this is just an EP, I've paid more for less at other times, and now that they've had their artsy fun they can devote themselves to producing the killer full-length I deserve. i just got back from seeing black cross. lords opened. based on this review i expected something really pretentious but they were quite the oposite. i enjoyed them. maybe i'll pick this up. The last track sounds overrated if I had ever thought about listening to what it's supposed to be. i think they are saying, from what he read, it sounds overrated, but they havent heard it for themself. "The last track sounds overrated" hey silent storms. keep talking. so will i. Hey Steve, There used to be this "gang" around here that called themselves the Lords. I wonder whatever happened to that. "In exactly thirty minutes, Lords blaze through ten songs, even though one is only twelve seconds long, and the last track seems to be the entire album played backwards with a few minutes of dead air in front of and behind it." i thought black cross has been releasing stuff on EVR. at least i know Art Offensive was. "In exactly thirty minutes, Lords blaze through ten songs, even though one is only twelve seconds long, and the last track seems to be the entire album played backwards with a few minutes of dead air in front of and behind it." Friday July 30th Bloomfield Ave Cafe Montclair NJ then back to my question... are the twelve tracks what make up the 30 minutes, or is the noise included in the 30 minutes? Because it's not about the noise, it's about the twelve tracks before it. chinatown's the man. thats exactly what i'm talking about Alright, so this record lasts for 30 minutes, 19 of those minutes are "unlistenable noise," and this receives an 8? The cover art sells them to me alone. The last track sounds overrated. since when does 19 minutes of unlistenable noise give any band artistic credit. give me a break This band kills. |
