It has been just around ten years since the CD that in my opinion is the essential punk rock album for people born during the mid to late '80s, Dookie, was released. Just like anyone at that time, the first time I saw the video for “Longview” I was hooked and I knew I loved it. Ten years, three albums, one greatest hits, and one B-sides collection later Green Day is about to release their newest epic known as American Idiot. But before that as many of you know they planned a small four date club tour in which they would play their entire new album in it’s entirety for all to hear and enjoy.

Hey, to the guy who wrote the review for the show, IT WAS A GOOD REVIEW. It's pretty stupid to read a review of a Green Day concert if all you want to know is the setlist, because a Green Day concert is about the whole EVENT, not just what the band plays or says (altough I do like hearing that too!) greenday is the best.......they r so rad..i give them a ten just seen green day at the MEN in Manchester (american idiot tour). i LOVE green day.there probly one of the best punk bands out there..if you hate them get the hell outta here and listen to britney spears ok?! I saw the show in Chicago, and it was unbelievable, so much that the following week, we went to Toronto and saw the club show in Toronto. Greenday plays an amazing live show, and everyone should see them play live. For all of you that don't like the "heyyyyyyy Ohhhhhhh's," go to a Dave concert and dance around, or better yet, just watch him on TV because he could care less if you are there or not. I have seen a ton a concerts, and Green Day by far puts on the best show, and their true fans know that. I saw them play in NYC Sept. 22 and it was so great I just about peed my pants. :) I love these guys to pieces. It was a free show out on the street and they --even so! -- played for about an hour. I saw them ten years ago, I saw them this year, and they're always amazing. Billie Joe gives away his heart and guts to every audience. He has a huge heart and is incredibly generous to his fans. I couldn't stop giggling and grinning for days afterwards. Uhhhh, yeah, that was me. I could have sworn I was logged in but I guess not. I don't remember the whole set or the exact order but I know it included: NachoHat ... Can you post a setlist from the Voodoofest show? "the band closed the set and left everyone in the place remembering why they first fell in love with Green Day in the first place. " as a very long time fan of this band, i must say i think their latest record is their best. better than dookie, even, and dookie is one of the greatest records of all time. Sure, this isn't quite as solid through and through as dookie, but it's so goddamn ambitious, and they pull it off ridiculously well. Also, they didn't fucking hold back this time around. yeah, there are a bunch of more mid tempo and deliberate songs on here, but god damn were there some rockers that sounded as fresh as the first time i listened to dookie. i am so fucking happy about this album it makes me sick. I'd say seeing a classic band; let's say the clash, rancid, or nofx, with extra horn players, keyboardists, and back-up singers or any additional performers adds to the diversity of a live show and enables bands to perform more melodic or ska numbers such as in the "the decline", the trombone part played live by the black hornet, or rancid playing with steel drums for a song such as "coppers". someone already did that for Kerplunk! .....so they say... Billy...... I would kill for u to invite me to thnksgiving at ur house this year!!!! i love you!!!!!!!!!!! i prefer pinhead gunpowder. I agree, they could work with the venue to charge less. Usually that's done by sponsorship, a la Weezer's Yahoo tour, and the Honda Civic Tour, etc. That's how you get tickets cheaper, but then everyone screams "Sellout!" and still people complain. Keep in mind though, 35 bucks is cheaper than most other concerts you'll go to where the main act has sold close to 75 million albums. Metallica ten years ago was a 50 dollar ticket (Green Day on Insomniac tour 17 bucks), and they toured with bumfuck Corrosion of Conformity, they played places the same as Green Day is now. Dave Matthews Band? Try to find 35 dollar tickets to one of his shows. My point being, it's not cheap to see Green Day, but it's cheaper than seeing acts of comparable popularity. I stilll think bands should write songs that they can fully perform live by themselves.......having extra musicians isn't bad on a record, but greenday does it a LOT on american idiot - sometimes with three guitar parts. I dunno if alot of you people know this, but Green Day doesn't charge 35 for the ticket. The venue charges 35 for a ticket, because they know they can get it. Green Day is given what is called a "Guarantee" to play a show, and then the venue charges the ticket price to make their money back and then some off the show. So calling Green Day "punk rock" to charge 35 bucks is bullshit. Some of you people need to learn how all this shit works before you start complaining about shit being the band's fault. There are so many other things that go into paying for a show, especially with all of the extra musicians. Ye. i like at the drive in. Please point out to me exactly where in the review it talked about dialouge between the reviewer and other people and drinking soda? The new album's good-- but is it just me, or does it sound like a technically simpler and less interesting version of NOFX's "The Decline?" quit quoting shit you wouldn't know unless you saw "high fidelity" you fucking posers. score is for the review. "hey i waited outside for so long and saw all these people and then so-and-so came up and we talked for a while and i had some soda later blah blah blah oh yeah, green day played or something." talk about the band, dumbass. no one gives a shit how you saw some 10 year olds with their parents. "the CD that in my opinion is the essential punk rock album for people born during the mid to late '80s, Dookie" unless u saw the pistols live u cant talk "if bands only wrote songs that they could play live, then Nevermind the Bollocks wouldn't exist, cos the Pistols couldn't play their instruments for shit. Not taking anything away from the Pistols, cos it was the energy that made them great, but it was a stupid comment." "I heard that television and still little fingers and the stooges and all those guys, totally learned everything they know from billy joe" "Hah kids are hilarious.... "Everyone likes something... SO I FUCKING HATE IT" Kids these days dont know where there punk rock roots are from" was the reviewer suppose to list each song one after another... you know the set list..fool "Terrible review. I agree with the guy below. I think it's pathetic that bands need extra musicians to come on stage and play. If you can't play the songs live without extra musicians, then don't write songs that require more members than you band has." A review of a show where a band plays a whole CD from front to back and you only mentioned three songs off of the said CD? for all the green day haters. why bother reading a reveiw on a band you hate so much, and then just bash them? i know i dont read about bands that i dislike just to diss them! Hah kids are hilarious.... "Everyone likes something... SO I FUCKING HATE IT" Kids these days dont know where there punk rock roots are from i agree with the guy who said that he pictured you in blue but is more partial to the red Terrible review. I agree with the guy below. I think it's pathetic that bands need extra musicians to come on stage and play. If you can't play the songs live without extra musicians, then don't write songs that require more members than you band has. to the reviewer - if you're gonna review just the show, review the show. dont give me the story of how u waited in line to get tickets - no one gives a shit. this was a terrible review, you should quit life i pictured you in blue but i'd have to say i'm more partial to the red i wish i coulda been at one of those shows, but it pisses me off when a band has to have extra instruments added just to do a show. Meh... Bad boring ass licking review, too much of a fan review. Plus Green Day would be a hell of a lot better live if they skipped some of the fake applause shit and played more songs... remember, the reason people came to see them? no... ah forgeddit. did tre sing rock and roll girlfriend? Green Day is so punk rock, they charge $35 a ticket. really good review. i wish i couldve seen one of these shows. i love this band Sounds like a good show. The 'heyyy--ooos' get really boring really fast, though. Green who? I hate this band. you guys are whiners. ever hear of the phrase *leave 'em wanting more*? obviously they did. and if they play 20 mins or 2 hours id still think its worth it. you wont see many bands better than them live. NightProwler said everything I could have. It was a good time, but shoudlv'e been so much better. To the person a few comments down, this reviewer didn't mean Green Day never played smaller venues. He meant he himself had never seen them at a smaller venue, ya fuckin' turd burglar. To the person below this, no. For the launch of the new album, Green Day decided to do a smaller venues tour first where the main focus was to play the new album in its entirety, before going out on the larger tour with NFG and Sugarcult, where I'm sure Green Day's set will be the usual mix of old and new. Were these the shows with Sugarcult and NFG? I like how this fucking idiot, believes that all the've ever played are stadiums. Every band has to come up from somewhere assbag. That's why I was so pissed off that they only played an hour and a half cause this was only a four show deal and these were all special because of them playing their new album & the show being in a small venue. 1 1/2 hours? In July they played for about 3 hours over here in Cali. It was a secret show $10 FUCKING DOLLARS! God damn, I wish I saw the NYC show. To "The night Prowler" I posted this review and you are right I did put down the wrong song however the reason for that is because I was going through my Green Day play list and accidently copied and pasted the wrong song name (as to not have a spelling error) So I am an idiot and accidently posted the wrong song. For that I suck. I'm I the only asshole that thinks Green Day hasnt put out anything decent since "Dookie"? "as well as your frat guys who I’m sure still pop in Dookie in between their Dave Matthews band and G-Unit CDs." The band didn’t let up as they kicked into “Brain Stew” followed by the fast and energy filled “Platypus (I Hate You)” from the Nimrod album great review....i tried to get tix for the show out here in ca. but it sold out before the guy could even look it up. the tickets sold out in 30 seconds to this show oh, and there's nothing wrong with dave. carter is one of the best percussionists out there. G-Unit blows, but it's all about kanye baby. Someone else put up a review of this show. Good to see. this band makes me cum. billy, fuck me fuck me FUCK ME! |
