great vocals. i am not a huge fan of christian bands but mewithoutYou goes about christianity differently than your average christ-core mother fucker. i respect that

"Marion" is a poor judge of music and probably most other things in life as well. This is the most smplistic and worthless review I've ever read. How hard is it to understand the lyrics on this album? Did this reviewer even READ the lyrics? Ever heard of a metaphor? Or creativity? The lyrics on this album give me faith in music today. A reviewer should have something more meaningful to say about an album than something about the end of songs being cool and eerie. Huh? As for the vocals, I guess he should apologize for not sounding like American Idol or some bullshit, right? What he has is called EMOTION. Could Bob Dylan sing? Nope. He sounded like shit. But he was a great songwriter. The craft of this album is beautiful. Plus he's not singing, it's called spoken vocals...what's with someone complaining about it being off key? He's speaking. I can't remember the last time i put a melody to my speaking.

Oh yeah, I'm an atheist, but I think this album is excellent. They aren't a Christian rock band. They just happen to be Christian...there's no need to even associate them with Christianity. Yeah, they mention God/praying in a couple songs like "The Soviet" and "Four Word Letter" but people's interpretations of "God" differ. I don't know why people freak out about that kind of thing.

If you don't want to listen to forward-thinking artists that's fine. Just go listen to some more Clay Aiken, and stop bashing shit you've "never heard before"

For the most part, I just listened to 1979 and Paper Hanger, which strongly stand out. I couldn't get into the rest of them. Paper Hanger in particular is one of my all-time favorite works. And this is from a guy who has never even been remotely interested in this genre. Er...this general kind of heavy music with shouted vocals...not sure I should place it in a specific genre.

To briefly address the article posted before (*slightly* off-topic), your faith will always come down to faith. It seems to me you can neither prove it nor disprove it, as much of it is beyond our scope. If you could, wouldn't that sort of eliminate the point? It's certainly a topic worth discussing, but you'll always end up different where you begun. Faith through obedience, or denial of faith. Take your pick and be responsible for it.

I'm posting this because a lot of people are confused about how anyone could believe the Bible. What's the difference between believing that and a fairy tale. I can understand the skeptical views from a lot of people. I really can because many people are under the impression that the Bible is another religious book with no empirical evidence to back it up. But the Bible is definitely worth considering even if it was written by man. It being written by man is irrelevant to whether it's the word of God or not. God could have used weedeaters to record his word if he wanted to. So why couldn't he use man. The question is this. Is the Bible written by fallible man or the infallible God, but God just used man to make sure that he was carefully getting his thoughts recorded. Take some time to read this post. Maybe you'll be surprised by the Bible being the only religious book to have fulfilled prophecies. Maybe you'd be shocked by it's numerous scientific facts and archeological accounts. But first let's get into the nitty gritty.....or at least try to..........
What’s this talk about the Bible. It seems like so many people talk about it today. You’ve probably thought at one point that it’s very stupid to put your trust in a book. Where do we learn about our history, math, and other countless topics? We assume that those books are valid and truth because they are widely accepted. The Bible is not a very accepted book in today’s society. Either this is because there is no truth to it. Or there’s a reason by this. In the Bible God explains that men don’t want to come to the light because they love darkness. If there’s no truth to this book than it needs to be exposed because millions have been deceived by it. But if there is evidence behind it than it seriously needs to be explored because the consequences are so serious if it’s true.
In his book God Doesn't Believe in Atheists (A book based on testing how true of an atheist you are) Ray Comfort says, "There either is a God or there isn't. Both possibilities are frightening." If there is no God than we are hurling through space with no one in control. If there is a God we better find out what exactly it is that it wants. Thomas Edison once said "We do not know a millionth of 1 percent about anything." Imagine the universe as a giant circle. We are a tiny dot in that circle. Is there a chance that out of all the vast knowledge that occupies the universe that I could say I know everything? No. Than how could I say there is no God? If there's a God……….. who created God? What if this God stands outside of time and created time? Just as there is no beginning and end to space what if there's no beginning and end to God. It stretches your mind to think about. Some say there is no way there's a God because this world is terrible. This absence proves there's no God. But if my emotions tells me "Posh! I don’t believe in electricity" and I go stick my finger in an electrical outlet than it doesn’t mean that electricity doesn’t exist. Others say there is a God and there's an explanation for the madness and corruptibility in this world......sin. Some say there is a God, but he's evil. But where does this standard of good and evil that we set come from. If you compare the teachings of the Egyptians, Babylonians, Hindus, Chinese, Greeks, and Romans what’s weird is how very similar they are to each other. C.S. Lewis once asked in what country one would be admired for running away in battle or a man admired for double crossing everyone who has been kind to him. Like mathematics there is a standard for right and wrong. Where does it come from? We're forced to believe in right and wrong. If there is no true morality than what's better about my conduct over the Nazi's. C.S. Lewis in his book "Mere Christianity" states "One man said to me "3 hundred years ago people in England were putting witches to death. Would you call that the rule of human nature or the rule of right conducts? Lewis goes on saying "Surely the reason we do not execute witches is that we do not believe there are such things. Science magazine reported, "Shells from living snails were carbon dated as being 27,000 years old" (vol 224, 1984). A science article in Time (June 11, 1990) subtitled "Geologists show that carbon dating can be way off" shows that science can be off on this topic. "The lower leg of the Fairbanks Creek Mammoth had a radio carbon age of 15,380 Radio Carbon Years while it’s skin and flesh were 21,300 Radio Carbon Years" according to Harold E. Anthony’s "Nature’s Deep Freeze" "One part of the Vollosovitch mammoth carbon dated at 29,500 years and another part at 44,000" According to Troy C. Powe. So Carbon Dating can definitely be way off.
Time magazine also said "Scientists concede that their most cherished theories are based on embarrassingly few fossil fragments and that huge gaps exist in the fossil record" (November 7, 1977) Charles Darwin who popularized evolution said "I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion out of them!" Many of the things evolutionist followers still use as arguments were cracked a long time ago. (The following is from Ray Comfort’s "God Doesn’t Believe in Athiests" Nebraska Man was "scientifically" built up from one tooth, which was later found to be from a pig. Java man (found early in the last century) was nothing more than piece of skull, a fragment of thigh bone, and three molar teeth. The rest was the work of the imagination and plaster of Paris. Heidelberg man was built up from a jawbone, a large chin section, and some teeth. Most scientists of the day have rejected it because it’s similar to the jawbone found in modern man. Still, many evolutionists believe he’s 250,000 years old. And don’t look to Neanderthal man for any evidence of evolution. He died of exposure. His skull was exposed as being fully human, not ape. Not only was his stooped posture found to be caused by disease, but he spoke and was artistic and religious. After Piltdown man celebrated his 500,000th birthday, his skull turned out to belong to a 600 year old woman and his jaw to a modern ape. All evidence of Peking man, who was said to have been around at the time of his friend and neighbor, Piltdown, has completely disappeared. He’s been reclassified as human. New Guinea Man dates way back to 1970, while Cro-Magnon Man is described as being "one of the earliest and best established fossils… at least equal in physique and brain capacity to that of modern man: (a small brain) In other words there’s no difference. G.K. Chesterton was so right when he said, "The evolutionists seem to know everything about the missing link except the fact that it is missing.")

The Bible is composed of 66 books. It is written by 40 different people over a period of 1600 years. It astonishingly has never been disproved, and has no contradictions. Evangelist Ray comfort from www.livingwaters.com and partners with Kirk Cameron, actor from growing pains claims that if anyone can show him one contradiction in the Bible he will reward them 1000 dollars. Many have tried to do it, but there hasn’t been one person who has succeeded in doing so. There are numerous scientific facts that are found in the Bible. At one point science taught that the earth sat on a foundation of either a large animal or a giant in 1500 BC. The Bible speaks of the earth's free float in space in Job 26:7. "He hangs the earth on nothing" Here is a quote from Time Magazine. "Most cosmologists (those are scientists who study the origin and structure of the earth's universe) agree that the Genesis account of creation, in imagining an initial void may be uncannily close to the truth." Science expresses the universe in five terms: time, space, matter, power, and motion. Genesis 1:1, 2 showed such truths to the Hebrews in 1450 B.C.: "In the beginning (Time) God created (power) the heaven (space) and the earth (matter) and the spirit of God moved (motion) upon the face of the waters"
In Isaiah 40:22 The Bible tells us that the earth is round: "It is he who sits above the circle of the earth" This wasn't accepted until 2400 years later. Not many people know that radio and light waves are two forms of the same thing. God told this to Job in 1500 BC. Job 38:35 states "Can you send out lightnings that they may go, and say to you here we are?" The British scientist James Clerk Maxwell suggested that electricity and light waves were two forms of the same thing. When science was in the dark about why the dinosaur disappeared, the Bible would seem to shed light on the subject. In Job 40: 15-24 God describes the largest of the creatures he made. The animal is spoken of as being herbivorous, having it's strength in it's hips, a tail like a large tree, very strong bones a habitat among the trees, able to consume large amounts of water, and being of great height. Then the Bible says "Only he who made him can bring near his sword." So the Bible says God destroyed the dinosaur which is a word that wasn't invented until 1847 A.D. and beforehand were commonly called dragons. In Genesis 6 God gave Noah the dimensions of the 1.5 million cubic foot ark he was to build. In 1609 at Hoorn in Holland, a ship was built after that same pattern, revolutionizing shipbuilding. By 1900 every large ship of the high seas was inclined toward the proportions of the ark (according to "Lloyd's register of Shipping" in the world almanac)
Job states that God "made a law for the rain and a path for the thunderbolt" (Job 28:26) Centuries later scientists began to discern the "law for rain" The Bible also says "If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth… All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; to the place from which the rivers come, there they return again: (Ecclesiastes 11:3; 1:7) Amos 9:6 says " He…calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the face of the earth; the LORD is his name."

Genesis 2.1 says "Thus, the heavens and the earth and the host of them were finished" The Hebrew used the past tense for the verb finished", indicating an action completed in the past ,never again to occur. In Isaiah 5:6, Psalm 102:26, and Hebrews 1:11 it's indicated that the earth is wearing out. This is what the second law of thermodynamics states "Everything is running down and wearing out as energy is becoming less and less available for use. God told Abraham that on the 8th day newborn baby males were to be circumcised in Genesis 17:12. This is the day that the coagulating factor in the blood, called prothrombin, is the highest. Medical science has discovered that this is when the human body is at its peak. Genesis 3:15 speaks of how the female processes "The seed of life" this wasn't common knowledge until a couple centuries ago. It was common knowledge that the male processed the seed of life and that the woman was nothing more than an incubator. Only in recent years has man discovered that there were mountains on the ocean floor. This was revealed in the Bible thousands of years ago. Jonah 2:6 states "I went down to the moorings of the mountains." Psalm 8:8 states "the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas" A Christian named Matthew Maury who lived from 1806 to 1873 declared "If God said there are paths in the sea I am going to find them." His book on oceanography is considered a foundational text and is still used in universities.
There are archeological facts from the Bible. In the 1970's Ebla tablets which were discovered in Northern Syria. There are documents written on clay tablets from around 2300 B.C. And they show that person and place names in the Patriarchal accounts are genuine. In Ebla the name "Canaan" was used. Critics once said that it was a name that was not used at that time and was used incorrectly in the early chapters of the Bible. The tablets refer to all 5 cities of the plain. Mentioned in Genesis 14 and were previously assumed to be mere legends. In 1896 Egypt. A tablet the Merneptah Stela was found that mentions Israel. (Merneptah ruled Egypt in 1212-1202 BC The Stella indicates that Israel was a significant entity in the late 13th Century B.C.
The Hittites were once thought to be a biblical legend, until their capital and records were discovered in Turkey. The walls of Jericho were discovered in 1930 by John Garstang. The walls fell suddenly and outwardly so Israelites could clamber over the ruins into the city (Joshua 6:20) In 1990 Harvard researchers found a silver plated bronze calf described as the huge golden calf mentioned in the book of Exodus. It was once said that there was no Assyrian king named Sargon as put in Isaiah 20:1, because this name was not known in any other record. Then Sargon's palace was discovered in Iraq. The very event mentioned in Isaiah 20, his capture of Ashdod, was recorded in the palace walls! The ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah have been discovered southeast of the Dead Sea. Evidence at the site seems right on key with the Biblical account: "Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah__ from the Lord out of the heavens." The destruction and mess was about 3 feet thick and buildings were burned from fires that started on the rooftops.(Archeological facts found on http://faithfacts.gospelcom.net/) In 1947, the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and these manuscripts had large portions of the Old Testament, a thousand years earlier than any existing copies. Study of the scrolls has made it known that the Bible hasn’t change in content down through the ages as many skeptics though. According to Lee Strobel, a journalist who wrote "The Case for Christ" says "There are over 5000 copies of the New Testament manuscripts copied in Greek and 8,000 to 10,000 in Latin, eight thousand more in other languages such as Ethiopic, Slavic, and Armenian. Throw in a few miscellaneous other manuscripts, and there are 24,000 New Testament manuscripts in all. The amazing thing is that they all say the same thing! You’ll find some variations in spelling and stuff like that, but 99.5 percent of the manuscripts match up."

The God of the Bible is described to have created time, and is not subject to it. Biblical prophecies are coming true today, and were fulfilled when Christ came to the earth. There are over 300 prophecies about the coming messiah and all were fulfilled by Christ. The first Greek translation of the Old Testament was done 250 years before Jesus was born. How could they have known he could be born? How could they have known that he would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver? It was prophesied that he would be crucified when crucifixions didn't even exist in the form of capital punishment yet. Prophecy is still coming true today. Signs of Christ's coming growing nearer are all through the Bible.

In the United States, 390,000 tons of pesticides are sprayed on crops each year to prevent the growing problem. The sign that is the culmination of all these signs will be the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem. Luke 21:29-30. In 1948 after 1900 years without a homeland the Jews set foot in Jerusalem fulfilling these words of Jesus Christ that were spoken 2000 years earlier. God had warned that if the Jews forsook his law, he would scatter them all over the earth, allowing them to be put to shame. Then he would draw them back to Israel (Ezekiel 36:24). In Isaiah 66:8 (700 BC) Isaiah prophesied "Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? As soon as Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children." In 1922, the League of Nations gave Great Britain the political authority over Palestine. On May 14, 1948, Britain withdrew her mandate, and the nation of Israel was "born in a day." There are over 25 Bible prophecies concerning Palestine that have been fulfilled. The probability of these being accidentally fulfilled is slightly more than one chance in 33,000,000. People say that the Bible was made up like countless other religions to console man’s fear of death. But the Bible is far from comfortable. It’s terrifying in fact for some, but it also offers incomprehensible hope. The Bible says the soul that sins shall die. Unfortunately 10 out of 10 people die which is proof that you and I have sinned. Who knows maybe God will overlook sin and let people into heaven? Maybe we can get there by being a good person. Let’s see how you match up. Let’s look at the 10 commandments. Have you ever told a lie…Even a little white lie? If you’re honest you know you have. That makes you a liar. Have you ever stolen anything regardless of the value? If so that makes you a thief. Have you ever committed adultery? Jesus said that if you even look at someone with lust that you’ve already committed adultery in your heart. Have you ever hated someone and thus committed murder in your heart? Have you ever used God’s name in vain. This is called blasphemy. If you were to be judged by these standards would you end up in heaven or hell? You know it would be hell. That’s not God’s will. He sent his one and only son to die your for on the cross. Our works or good deeds can’t save us. A murderer can’t stand before a judge and say "look at all the people I didn’t kill!" Jesus stepped in the courtroom and paid your fine and if you repent and put your faith in trust in Christ alone for salvation you will be saved and spend eternity in heaven. You don’t know the moment of your death. So be ready. Listen to your conscience. Don’t wait till you’re old to get things right with God. You may not have tomorrow. Compared to eternity this life ends in the twinkle of an eye. You could drop dead reading this. Your days are undetermined. No one has death marked down on their calendar and it usually comes when you least expect it. Very few of us get a warning before it comes knocking. And believe me. It will come. Take a look at history and see the countless people who have existed. Don’t wait to do this. You won’t regret it. ………...Repent of your sins and trust in Jesus. Nothing else is like it. God is not wanting anyone to die apart with him. Hell is an eternal state. And noone can comprehend eternity. We dwell in time, but in eternity the clock stops and you're there forever. So repent of your sins and trust in the blood that was shed for you by Jesus Christ. God was willing to become a man and die on a cross to save many.

Sir Fred Hoyle, professor of astrology at Cambridge University, made a similar finding: "The chance that higher life forms might have emerged in this way is comparable to the change that a tornado sweeping through a junkyard might assemble a Boeing 747 from the materials therein. The likelihood of the formation of life from inanimate matter is one out of 10 to the 40,000 power." Einstein once said, "All our knowledge is but the knowledge of schoolchildren." Many have claimed Albert Einstein was an atheist, but Einstein quote said "In the view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what makes me really angry is that they quote me for such views." He also said "I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know his thoughts. The rest are details." Sir Arthur Keith, (who wrote the forward to Darwin’s Origin of Species, 100th edition) said, "Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it only because the only alternative is special creation, and that is unthinkable." What about carbon dating? Science magazine reported, "Shells from living snails were carbon dated as being 27,000 years old" (vol 224, 1984). A science article in Time (June 11, 1990) subtitled "Geologists show that carbon dating can be way off" shows that science can be off on this topic. "The lower leg of the Fairbanks Creek Mammoth had a radio carbon age of 15,380 Radio Carbon Years while it’s skin and flesh were 21,300 Radio Carbon Years" according to Harold E. Anthony’s "Nature’s Deep Freeze" "One part of the Vollosovitch mammoth carbon dated at 29,500 years and another part at 44,000" According to Troy C. Powe. So Carbon Dating can definitely be way off.
Time magazine also said "Scientists concede that their most cherished theories are based on embarrassingly few fossil fragments and that huge gaps exist in the fossil record" (November 7, 1977) Charles Darwin who popularized evolution said "I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion out of them!" Many of the things evolutionist followers still use as arguments were cracked a long time ago. (The following is from Ray Comfort’s "God Doesn’t Believe in Athiests" Nebraska Man was "scientifically" built up from one tooth, which was later found to be from a pig. Java man (found early in the last century) was nothing more than piece of skull, a fragment of thigh bone, and three molar teeth. The rest was the work of the imagination and plaster of Paris. Heidelberg man was built up from a jawbone, a large chin section, and some teeth. Most scientists of the day have rejected it because it’s similar to the jawbone found in modern man. Still, many evolutionists believe he’s 250,000 years old. And don’t look to Neanderthal man for any evidence of evolution. He died of exposure. His skull was exposed as being fully human, not ape. Not only was his stooped posture found to be caused by disease, but he spoke and was artistic and religious. After Piltdown man celebrated his 500,000th birthday, his skull turned out to belong to a 600 year old woman and his jaw to a modern ape. All evidence of Peking man, who was said to have been around at the time of his friend and neighbor, Piltdown, has completely disappeared. He’s been reclassified as human. New Guinea Man dates way back to 1970, while Cro-Magnon Man is described as being "one of the earliest and best established fossils… at least equal in physique and brain capacity to that of modern man: (a small brain) In other words there’s no difference. G.K. Chesterton was so right when he said, "The evolutionists seem to know everything about the missing link except the fact that it is missing.")
The Bible is commonly known by most today and is often scoffed at. Many see the Bible as the word of God. Others see it as a good moral guide. Others are indifferent. The Bible is not a single book. The Bible is composed of 66 books. It is written by 40 different people over a period of 1600 years. It astonishingly has never been disproved, and has no contradictions. Evangelist Ray comfort from www.livingwaters.com and partners with Kirk Cameron, actor from growing pains claims that if anyone can show him one contradiction in the Bible he will reward them 1000 dollars. Many have tried to do it, but there hasn’t been one person who has succeeded in doing so. There are numerous scientific facts that are found in the Bible. At one point science taught that the earth sat on a foundation of either a large animal or a giant in 1500 BC. The Bible speaks of the earth's free float in space in Job 26:7. "He hangs the earth on nothing" Here is a quote from Time Magazine. "Most cosmologists (those are scientists who study the origin and structure of the earth's universe) agree that the Genesis account of creation, in imagining an initial void may be uncannily close to the truth." Science expresses the universe in five terms: time, space, matter, power, and motion. Genesis 1:1, 2 showed such truths to the Hebrews in 1450 B.C.: "In the beginning (Time) God created (power) the heaven (space) and the earth (matter) and the spirit of God moved (motion) upon the face of the waters"
In Isaiah 40:22 The Bible tells us that the earth is round: "It is he who sits above the circle of the earth" This wasn't accepted until 2400 years later. Not many people know that radio and light waves are two forms of the same thing. God told this to Job in 1500 BC. Job 38:35 states "Can you send out lightnings that they may go, and say to you here we are?" The British scientist James Clerk Maxwell suggested that electricity and light waves were two forms of the same thing. When science was in the dark about why the dinosaur disappeared, the Bible would seem to shed light on the subject. In Job 40: 15-24 God describes the largest of the creatures he made. The animal is spoken of as being herbivorous, having it's strength in it's hips, a tail like a large tree, very strong bones a habitat among the trees, able to consume large amounts of water, and being of great height. Then the Bible says "Only he who made him can bring near his sword." So the Bible says God destroyed the dinosaur which is a word that wasn't invented until 1847 A.D. and beforehand were commonly called dragons. In Genesis 6 God gave Noah the dimensions of the 1.5 million cubic foot ark he was to build. In 1609 at Hoorn in Holland, a ship was built after that same pattern, revolutionizing shipbuilding. By 1900 every large ship of the high seas was inclined toward the proportions of the ark (according to "Lloyd's register of Shipping" in the world almanac)
Job states that God "made a law for the rain and a path for the thunderbolt" (Job 28:26) Centuries later scientists began to discern the "law for rain" The Bible also says "If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth… All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; to the place from which the rivers come, there they return again: (Ecclesiastes 11:3; 1:7) Amos 9:6 says " He…calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the face of the earth; the LORD is his name."
In Psalm 19: verses 5 and 6 contain several scientific facts. It says about the sun "It's rising from one end of heaven, and its circuit to the other end, and there is nothing hidden from its heat." Many years several scoffed at the Bible citing that this verse taught false doctrine of geocentricity. (I.E. the sun revolves around the earth) In recent years there was a discovery that the sun is in fact moving through space. It is not stationary as was once thought. Estimation proclaims it to be moving at approximately 600,000 miles per hour, in an orbit so large that it would take approximately 200 million years to complete just one orbit. The first law of thermodynamics states that neither matter nor energy can be destroyed. Genesis 2.1 says "Thus, the heavens and the earth and the host of them were finished" The Hebrew used the past tense for the verb finished", indicating an action completed in the past ,never again to occur. In Isaiah 5:6, Psalm 102:26, and Hebrews 1:11 it's indicated that the earth is wearing out. This is what the second law of thermodynamics states "Everything is running down and wearing out as energy is becoming less and less available for use. God told Abraham that on the 8th day newborn baby males were to be circumcised in Genesis 17:12. This is the day that the coagulating factor in the blood, called prothrombin, is the highest. Medical science has discovered that this is when the human body is at its peak. Genesis 3:15 speaks of how the female processes "The seed of life" this wasn't common knowledge until a couple centuries ago. It was common knowledge that the male processed the seed of life and that the woman was nothing more than an incubator. Only in recent years has man discovered that there were mountains on the ocean floor. This was revealed in the Bible thousands of years ago. Jonah 2:6 states "I went down to the moorings of the mountains." Psalm 8:8 states "the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas" A Christian named Matthew Maury who lived from 1806 to 1873 declared "If God said there are paths in the sea I am going to find them." His book on oceanography is considered a foundational text and is still used in universities.
There are archeological facts from the Bible. In the 1970's Ebla tablets which were discovered in Northern Syria. There are documents written on clay tablets from around 2300 B.C. And they show that person and place names in the Patriarchal accounts are genuine. In Ebla the name "Canaan" was used. Critics once said that it was a name that was not used at that time and was used incorrectly in the early chapters of the Bible. The tablets refer to all 5 cities of the plain. Mentioned in Genesis 14 and were previously assumed to be mere legends. In 1896 Egypt. A tablet the Merneptah Stela was found that mentions Israel. (Merneptah ruled Egypt in 1212-1202 BC The Stella indicates that Israel was a significant entity in the late 13th Century B.C.
The Hittites were once thought to be a biblical legend, until their capital and records were discovered in Turkey. The walls of Jericho were discovered in 1930 by John Garstang. The walls fell suddenly and outwardly so Israelites could clamber over the ruins into the city (Joshua 6:20) In 1990 Harvard researchers found a silver plated bronze calf described as the huge golden calf mentioned in the book of Exodus. It was once said that there was no Assyrian king named Sargon as put in Isaiah 20:1, because this name was not known in any other record. Then Sargon's palace was discovered in Iraq. The very event mentioned in Isaiah 20, his capture of Ashdod, was recorded in the palace walls! The ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah have been discovered southeast of the Dead Sea. Evidence at the site seems right on key with the Biblical account: "Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah__ from the Lord out of the heavens." The destruction and mess was about 3 feet thick and buildings were burned from fires that started on the rooftops.(Archeological facts found on http://faithfacts.gospelcom.net/) In 1947, the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and these manuscripts had large portions of the Old Testament, a thousand years earlier than any existing copies. Study of the scrolls has made it known that the Bible hasn’t change in content down through the ages as many skeptics though. According to Lee Strobel, a journalist who wrote "The Case for Christ" says "There are over 5000 copies of the New Testament manuscripts copied in Greek and 8,000 to 10,000 in Latin, eight thousand more in other languages such as Ethiopic, Slavic, and Armenian. Throw in a few miscellaneous other manuscripts, and there are 24,000 New Testament manuscripts in all. The amazing thing is that they all say the same thing! You’ll find some variations in spelling and stuff like that, but 99.5 percent of the manuscripts match up."
And there are numerous more facts that archeology has found in the old and new testament books.
The God of the Bible is described to have created time, and is not subject to it. Biblical prophecies are coming true today, and were fulfilled when Christ came to the earth. There are over 300 prophecies about the coming messiah and all were fulfilled by Christ. The first Greek translation of the Old Testament was done 250 years before Jesus was born. How could they have known he could be born? How could they have known that he would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver? It was prophesied that he would be crucified when crucifixions didn't even exist in the form of capital punishment yet. Prophecy is still coming true today. Signs of Christ's coming growing nearer are all through the Bible.
False Bible teachers will be money hungry, and will have many followers, and slur the Christian faith. 2 Peter 2:1-3. Earthquakes will be widespread Matthew 24:7.
Many wars will erupt (Matthew 24:6). There have been over one hundred wars since 1945, with more than 16 million deaths. Deadly diseases will be prevalent Matthew 24:7. The Ten Commandments will be forsaken(Lawlessness) (Matthew 24:12). There will be a cold religious system denying God's power (2 Timothy 3:5.) Men will substitute false Christian beliefs in replacement of true Christianity. (2 Timothy 4:4) God once flooding the earth will be denied (2 Peter 3:5).There will be an increase in pestilence. In the United States, 390,000 tons of pesticides are sprayed on crops each year to prevent the growing problem. The sign that is the culmination of all these signs will be the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem. Luke 21:29-30. In 1948 after 1900 years without a homeland the Jews set foot in Jerusalem fulfilling these words of Jesus Christ that were spoken 2000 years earlier. God had warned that if the Jews forsook his law, he would scatter them all over the earth, allowing them to be put to shame. Then he would draw them back to Israel (Ezekiel 36:24). In Isaiah 66:8 (700 BC) Isaiah prophesied "Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? As soon as Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children." In 1922, the League of Nations gave Great Britain the political authority over Palestine. On May 14, 1948, Britain withdrew her mandate, and the nation of Israel was "born in a day." There are over 25 Bible prophecies concerning Palestine that have been fulfilled. The probability of these being accidentally fulfilled is slightly more than one chance in 33,000,000. (According to Ray Comfort) Israel is like the nightlight on the clock of Biblical prophecy. Scripture also informs us that Jerusalem will become a "Burdensome stone for all people" (Zechariah 12:3)
those are just a few of the facts that are provided from the Bible. Believe it or not there is not one shred of evidence for evolution. What you say? Than how do they teach it in schools? It is simply a theory! Creationism scientist Kent Hovind, is offering 250,000 dollars to anyone who can give one fact for evolution. This is a legit deal. So far no one has collected the money. There are a lot of arguments that have arose. Lots of people say Jesus is the son of God. Some say he’s a great moral teacher. There is no middle ground. If Jesus wasn’t the son of God than he was nuts. Who goes around calling themselves God telling everyone that he can forgive their sins? If one went around telling everyone he or she was God and that they could get everyone into heaven than you’d probably laugh at me. First off because I have no proof to even back that authority. But what if they did miracles and there were prophecies that they fulfilled? The Bible it’s worth considering. Real people wrote down what they saw. People say that the Bible was made up like countless other religions to console man’s fear of death. But the Bible is far from comfortable. It’s terrifying in fact for some, but it also offers incomprehensible hope. The Bible says the soul that sins shall die. Unfortunately 10 out of 10 people die which is proof that you and I have sinned. Who knows maybe God will overlook sin and let people into heaven? Maybe we can get there by being a good person. Let’s see how you match up. Let’s look at the 10 commandments. Have you ever told a lie…Even a little white lie? If you’re honest you know you have. That makes you a liar. Have you ever stolen anything regardless of the value? If so that makes you a thief. Have you ever committed adultery? Jesus said that if you even look at someone with lust that you’ve already committed adultery in your heart. Have you ever hated someone and thus committed murder in your heart? Have you ever used God’s name in vain. This is called blasphemy. If you were to be judged by these standards would you end up in heaven or hell? You know it would be hell. That’s not God’s will. He sent his one and only son to die your for on the cross. Our works or good deeds can’t save us. A murderer can’t stand before a judge and say "look at all the people I didn’t kill!" Jesus stepped in the courtroom and paid your fine and if you repent and put your faith in trust in Christ alone for salvation you will be saved and spend eternity in heaven. You don’t know the moment of your death. So be ready. Listen to your conscience. Don’t wait till you’re old to get things right with God. You may not have tomorrow. Compared to eternity this life ends in the twinkle of an eye. You could drop dead reading this. Your days are undetermined. No one has death marked down on their calendar and it usually comes when you least expect it. Very few of us get a warning before it comes knocking. And believe me. It will come. Take a look at history and see the countless people who have existed. Don’t wait to do this. You won’t regret it. ………...Repent of your sins and trust in Jesus. Nothing else is like it. God deeply loves all souls and isn't wanting anyone to slip into this horrible state. So repent and trust in the blood that was shed for your sins. God was willing to die so you wouldn't have to go to hell.

I head way too much of their first CD (A>B Life). I didn't like it.

So when this one came out, I didn't want to listen to it.

I heard "January 1979" and enjoyed it.
Then I heard "Paper Hangers" and decided to give the whole CD a chance.

WOW!! This is one of the all around BEST works of art I've heard in my 45 years on this planet!

Someone said they thought the lyrics were "random" - You've got to let your brain out once in a while and excercise it.

This is a great album by a band that keeps growing artistically. mewithoutYou focuses on the lyrics with this release and the poetry flows through Aaron's spoken word vocals. It's such a brilliant collection of songs that I don't even mind the heavy Christian overtones at the end.

No word could do this album justice

I've listened to meWithoutYou on and off, and had always reacted to them fairly neutrally. I never thought their music was terrible, but it was neevr really that inspiring either. Recently, I saw them live with the blood brothers and they have now been downgraded to worst new band ever, because of the singer. At one point during their set he spit a huge wad up into the air, then subsequently had to dodge it when it almsot landed on his face. This was during the middle of their song.....ridiculous.

In making the comment, "Quite simply, it’s the vocals. I have trouble really comprehending what the hell vocalists is singing about," the reviewer is essentially admitting that he did not spend enough time absorbing this album. Mewithoutyou's messages are actually quite clear if one spends a few focused listening sessions on "Catch For us The Foxes." The lyricist/vocalist also does not "take lyrics out of the Bible," as a few poasts have stated. Rather, Mewithoutyou draw on their faith - and the struggles to maintain it - as inspiration to compose inspiring pieces of music.

mewithoutyou quite possibly is the most passionate band i've seen play in a while....i actually got a chance to sit down and talk with them at their austin show...and for anyone to criticize them shows ignorance...i mean people like what they like and people don't have the same taste in music...but don't criticize the artist...

saying that mewithoutYou has nothing meaningful to say is speaking in complete ignorance. this isnt self-important, elitist indie talk when i say this is poetry. have you even bothered to learn what theyre saying, to explicate this? its deep, involved, skilled, and above all: passionate.

"getting your stuff from the Bible" is the most unorgininal thing you can do? its called an allusion. its a very common writing tool used by the educated and if you study any literature, yes youll see there was a lot of it. theres a reason for this. its a great piece of literature in history and there is a lot to draw from it. what mwY does allude to in the Bible is typically very creative and adeptly.

the music? yes, its unorthodox. the vocals are not singing and that i understand is hard to appreciate but the best way i can explain it is that mellody in the vocals does not matter because the complexity of the instrumental arrangement demonstrates their musical ability and the scream/recitation better conveys the raw passion that cannot be forced into the constraints of melodic presentation. consider john donne, his emotional lines were so effective because the meter was forcefully arranged, consideration not given to easy of read and orthodoxy.

one more thing. it pains me to see even the fans of mwY to be so vulgar sometimes and it makes me think that they entirely miss the basis of their poetry/music. "theres a call to Love my brothers, that can never be destroyed." theres a great Love out there that they sing about, some incredible Grace that saves us at the depths of our dispair, thats what these songs are about. so if you want to appreciate all of them, appreciate Who theyre singing about, or try. hey, id be more than happy to discuss this with any of you. so if you believe What aaron 'sings' about, lets keep filthy language out, lets show some calm and restraint and Love to others. i know its frustrating.

This band is phenominal in concert.

They made highly exhausted.

I left with a headache and my clothes spelled like smoke but nonetheless I highly enjoyed their presence.

Aaron.....unspeakable....just an awesome vocalist..etc.

Comment on genre's/Christian(which is just another placed genre) I like to leave wel enough alone.

They are what they are.

What is embedded in the studio comes out full force on stage.

I'd recommend purchases of their album to anyone.
Also the old stuff.

Seriously, though, getting your stuff from the Bible is about the most uncreative thing possible. It's the oldest literature in existance. Ok if you dont understand gods romance for your beautiful heart you will not understand this band. arron talking about his ex symbolizes gods longing for your heart! arron talking about god symbolizes the brides romance with the beloved, and how jesus forgives your sins so you can have intimacy with him! so really all mewithoutyou writes about is THE ROMANCE with GOD that the band has.
Oh and im sure most the bands from tooth and nail records have picked up their crosses and are following the lamb, ready to hang.. well i know i am! sorry if my coments offended anyone, that is not gods plan! he has just called me to minister to the hurt fatherless children who needs love, and intimacy!

Lead singer Aaron Weiss's vocals are what makes mewithoutYou the band that they are. To say that they should have a different style of vocals is like saying that Jay-Z's music would be better if he didn't rap. If you don't even understand what a band is doing in their music, you shouldn't even review. Just because their vocal style is different than what you're used to doesn't mean that it "doesn't make sense," maybe it just means that you're not trying to understand it.

I think everyone should stop their meaningless slander. What I get from the reviewer is that he doesnt like the vocals. SO what? Thats perfectly fine. Not to make any comments like "he just doesnt get it", but it probably doesnt sound appealing to him. I understand that. I for one, love the band. I have been a fan for a long time. I saw them play a few years back at this huge hardcore festival. For me, they stole the show away from all 20 bands to play that day.

I will also say, that I was underwhelmed the first time I heard the new album. As if it wasnt what I was expecting after the first album. But it has grown on me. And I can now say that, for me, Mewithoutyou is one of the best rock bands in the world right now.

This album is absolutely incredible.
I thought that [A-->B] Life was good, but Catch Us For The Foxes is probably the best album I've ever heard.
Aaron Weiss is just unexplainably talented.
His voice is gorgeous, it might be shouting, random yelling, talking.. whatever, it's incredible. He is one of the most interesting people to watch perform live as well, I just went to their show the 11th and it was painful it was so beautiful and amazing. For anyone to think this band is not one of the greatest ever formed has something wrong with them. I don't see how someone could dislike this band, they are better than anything you will ever take part in. Amazing.

Yes, i know, i was really angry when i wrote that, i just was blown away when i read that it was about "nothing". I probably wouldn't know what it means if i weren't a christian, but maybe he should do some research on the lyrics before he writes a review about how they don't mean anything.

Obviously whoever wrote this review wasn't a christian, since they say aaron goes on about "nothing"...have you ever read the bible? i guess not...obviously you haven't if it doesn't "make sense". His lyrics are pretty much poems about what it says in the bible. Read Song of Solomon 2:14-16 it reads "Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom. " duh

this album gets my vote for best album i've heard this year... the music and lyrics are brilliant and a fresh of breath air in the atmosphere of sameness that surrounds music of this genre... if you don't like it, fine, that's your choice... but judge for yrself... check out the tracks at http://www.purevolume.com/mewithoutyou ... make up yr own mind... and to all the people that like to drag mewithoutyou through the mud because they believe in god... i think you're being more judgemental and narrow-minded than the christians you stand against... here's an interesting quote from frontman aaron weiss from a recent interview concerning his beliefs... "my response to people who disagree with this isn't to try to convince them that we're right and they're wrong. i think in a lot of cases what they're rebelling against isn't goodness or kindness or even faithfulness, but maybe just the hypocrisy that they've seen in the church. you know, they go to a place full of people that are claiming to follow the man who said 'do not judge or you'll be judged', and they encounter all this judgement and self-righteousness. i've seen that myself and it's made me question my faith and say, 'well, if this is what it means to follow jesus, then i don't want to follow jesus'... "

regardless of what you believe, this band is by no means preachy... in fact they're brutally honest... on track number seven, 'the soviet', aaron croons..."when i looked down as if to pray, well, i was looking down her dress"...

Dude, I totally agree with you. Catch for Us the Foxes was weak. The music and vocals lacked energy. This disc is especially dissapointing when held up to the light of mewithouYou's first cd, [A-->B] Life. Have you listened to that album? If your friend that you were talking about has it, steal it from her. The songs are similar to January 1979, only way better. You'll go out of your mind, it'st so awesome!!!!

if i was grading the review, i would give it a 1. mewithoutyou on the other hand is a different story. i think this may be my favorite album of the year, even passing interpol's latest record. mewithoutyou deserves much more credit than it deserves in the mainstream indie scene. regardless of the subject of the lyrics, it is an amazingly well made record. oh, and did i mention original? it's one of the oddest albums i've heard, but it's oh so good. regarding aaron's vocals and writing, yes, that is one of the big things that makes them who they are, but come on! give some credit to the rest of the guys! it's all around goodness. i could say more, but i've probably said enough. i must remind myself that i don't have the all-knowing and wise title of a punknews.org writer. who am i to say such things?

Alright...I skimmed the lyrics. A few about God and a few about life. It's written fine and the prose is pretty good, but really, I hate God lyrics especially on a Christian label.

And to defend Xiu Xiu. Jaime Stuart's lyrics are about problems he learns from the children he teaches from school (sexual child abuse, etc.). I think he really focuses with real socially damaging problems currently happening.

mewithoutYou is amazing band and this is a wonderful sophomore effort for them. Aaron is a unique vocalist who offers something new for listeners. He almost does his vocals in recitative. The band is very creative in a market full of cliches. They put on a wonderful live performance. Bravo to mewithoutYou for another great album.

well let's just say i've never been scared shitless by a band (even though it was just the dude jamie and an accompaning women doing percussion type stuff). that guy has to have some severe emotional problems. it was fucking frightening. really good though.

This reviewer doesn't get it. At all.

The spoken word lyrics are the whole point of the band.

If not, I could just go listen to Fugazi or ATDI or something else. however, mewithoutYou has their own sound and they're good at it.

and so what if he talks about his ex-girlfriend and god? at least he's talking about what he knows. tough crowd.

Oh great, some guys thought they could be the next Fugazi if they played some dissonant chords and had some guy who sounds constipated speak "emotionally" over them. This is the shit kids who listen to all the shitty Christian Tooth and Nail bands like Mae and The Juliana Theory pop in when they want to get "arty" and "abstract."

Ignorant in the fact that you generalize the lyrics without even hearing it. There's a difference between an opinion and an assumption.

And I think Xiu Xiu is a novelty just how much longer can you listen to a really creepy (REALLY, REALLY creepy) dude sing about the most fucked up shit ever. I will be honest and say that it's pretty decent music, but they're to me a band that I would only listen to if I wanted to be creeped out or make my friends laugh.

By the way, I apologize for coming off like a dick in my first post, although I meant every word of it, I should've phrased it differently. At least it gets us talkin' eh
