Best man alive. Personally, I am a little more fond of the slower songs. But the whole album is really good. while i agree with the positive points about "blood money" found in the review, i find that the best tracks are slower tunes like coney island baby. if you really listen to the ballads, the band is still playing really hard. everything is really tight (drums, bass, piano, etc), and it almost sounds like an old 45 slowed down...its that precise. Pavement sucks soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking bad! I rape sheep. "The Ramones were awful." Tom Waits' the man! I consider this album to be his second best after Real Gone. "God's Away on Business", "Another Man's Vine" and "Starving in the Belly of a Whale" are simply amazing songs. All in all, Blood Money is a masterpiece as every other Waits' albums. The Ramones were awful. that post was sooooooo punk. avril, corporate whore, songs about boys, hmm... no i do not believe she is of the punk mindset. she is probably closer to what many would consider the "punk sound," because that's what she was tailored to fit. but since there is no real punk sound (many say velvet underground was one of the first "punk" bands, and they're probably closer to waits than the ramones) and punk is a frame of mind, it's fairly clear that avril is not in that frame of mind. it's funny seeing someone who knows nothing about tom waits try and review his music. score is for the album. I'll listen to Tom Waits over what most of you call "punk" any day of the fucking week. "and punk is a frame of mind, it's fairly clear that avril is not in that frame of mind." Did anyone else think of VH1's Behind the Music when they saw the cover? avril, corporate whore, songs about boys, hmm... no i do not believe she is of the punk mindset. she is probably closer to what many would consider the "punk sound," because that's what she was tailored to fit. but since there is no real punk sound (many say velvet underground was one of the first "punk" bands, and they're probably closer to waits than the ramones) and punk is a frame of mind, it's fairly clear that avril is not in that frame of mind. "everyone needs to listen to Tom Waits!! This man along with Bob Dylan is one of the best song writers ever. Get Rain Dogs, Blood Money, Alice and Real Gone along with all the others. I'm FUCKING DRUNK right now listening to my Tom Wiats hobo music." "NEWSFLASH: You do not own "punk" or any of it's subsidaries or trademarks. It is a mindset, not a sound." everyone needs to listen to Tom Waits!! This man along with Bob Dylan is one of the best song writers ever. Comment below me: well i will say that tom waits is an amazing musician, and easily one of my top nominees in the categoree of "the man", just because epitaph released this doesn't make it a punk album and therefore i feel that this space is wasted There was a great article on Tom Waits in the Exclaim! a few months back. One quote I found really funny was: Good rating. There are some great songs on here, but about 3-4 of them are instrumentals that go nowhere. It's still better than "Alice." His singing voice is like that cuz that what his voice sounds like when he speaks.... :) |
